The Croft Farm

This is our second visit as an extended family to Croft Farm and it just works for us, all of us!

I have a feeling it might become a regular event now such has been the enthusiasm of all three generations.

My 60th birthday celebration with my girlfriends from Fri 10th to Mon 13th Oct 2025 Well where do I start even before our arrival day I was in communication with Peter the owner who responded speedily and positively to my few requests, we then went on to meet him at the property and he was such a lovely friendly and helpful guy, as we were a houseful of women he mentioned if we needed anything during our stay just to call him as he lives locally and would be on hand.

As for the property itself it is an absolute credit to him and to his cleaners ( who we met on Monday morning and did compliment them on the extremely high standard of cleanliness they maintain ) The interior of all three properties qre presented so beautifully and tastefully, we wanted for nothing the owners have thought about everything. We had the most relaxed, fun filled weekend in such an amazing setting. We also had a birthday lunch at The Black Horse in Elton which was just a short Uber ride away and it was really good too. I cannot recommend highly enough this property and we will definitely be back

The Croft Farm is in a lovely location with plenty of off street parking available and very pleasant walks from the doorstep.

The bathrooms were immaculately clean and the beds were comfy. We only used the kitchen in The Granary and it was very well equipped and large. However, as we were cooking for 16 it would have been very helpful to have a couple of very large pans to use. However we found that the overall accommodation didn’t entirely suit our party of 16 as the biggest communal space (The Granary) couldn’t seat us all at the dining table or in the sitting area. We also found the bathroom and toilet configuration in The Farmhouse a little disappointing with those sleeping in the two attic rooms having to go down one flight of spiral stairs to the toilet and two flights to the bathrooms. The plumbing in The Farmhouse rattles and gurgles very loudly with every use of the toilets and bathrooms and woke us up several times!

It is the second time we have stayed as a family of 16, it is 4 years since we stayed and the property was just as fresh and clean as it was the first time we came.

There are ample Cooking Utensils, Pots, Pans, Plates etc. The bed are comfortable and really we wanted for nothing. It was a little disappointing that the Hot Tub was not warm enough until a few hours after our arrival so we could hardly use it Friday evening. Not sure why this was but we could not seem to get the temperature up. All in all a very pleasant stay. Would certainly consider again if the need arises.

Superbly furnished and decorated. Would highly recommend. Absolutely ideal for family get togethers.

Absolutely loved the property which is in a beautiful location.

We had 18 people stay across the 3 houses and it worked perfectly. Would definitely recommend! Only downside was that the hot tub only housed 6 people at a time. Also a couple of hairdryers available would have been nice, but this is very minor. Everything else was catered for! Will definitely be coming back

What a fantastic set up.

We hired The Croft Farm for my son’s wedding in Elton. I had my three sons and partners staying and all the ushers 14 altogether. The Croft is split into 3 separate houses which gave each group their privacy. Beautiful garden where we all met in the morning for breakfast. It honestly could not have been more perfect. Well equipped in all areas with plenty of towels for each guest - even toys indoor and out for my 3 year old grandson - perfect. The hot tub was an added bonus enjoyed by most guests over our stay. Briefly met Peter the owner who was very charming and helpful. Would definitely recommend this gorgeous property in the quite little village of Thorngaugh.

16 people stayed at the property for the weekend and we had 0 complaints between us.

The property is clean/ tidy, everything you need there, Beds are comfy(with our request of all double beds met), living areas are spacious, hot tub was clean, outside area was tidy.. owner of property was very polite and accommodating. Overall, was a lovely stay & would defo recommend for large group bookings.

We have just had a fantastic long weekend at Croft Farm.

Having access to all three buildings was ideal, and the layout perfect for our group of 11. The main building has such character, but matches the modern day comforts of the Granary and Barn. The grounds and setting were perfect, and it's so easy to access. The instructions were clear, and the owner extremely helpful attending to our requirements. All in all we would highly recommend this property, particularly for large groups. I have seen previous comments about the main house being cold, but once you get to grips with the heating booster we found it to be absolutely fine - and that was in February! Overall we had a memorable weekend, and genuinely hope to come back for another visit.

We had an amazing family celebration at The Croft Farm over new year for a 50th birthday surprise get together.

We booked all 3 houses for a large family party and it worked really well. The separation gave family members space when needed and then we were able to come together in the Granary for meal times. Having a connecting door between the Granary and the Barn was ideal (and unexpected). The Granary provided the perfect space for 14 people to eat, play games and socialise. Peter the host was friendly, responsive and very accommodating. Some of the kitchen utensils, glasses and pot and pans needed extra scrubbing before use, but I would say that's as much on previous guests to leave as they would wish to find them. The sun rise was amazing over the fields and well worth getting up for. The hot tub worked well, and is a really nice extra. Overall it was a great location, clean, good host and we had a great time.

We throughly enjoyed our stay at Croft Farm for our family's 40th & 50th birthday get together.

The accommodation in all three properties was ideal. Clean, comfortable & well equipped. The spacious living & dining area in the Granary was great for group gatherings & social game nights & meal times. The hot tub was an added bonus. Great & responsive communication from Peter when needed. Great location with plenty to explore & see locally & Stamford only a 10 minute drive away. Only thing to add is to remember to bring your own hairdryer & extra towels for the hot tub as these are not provided. All in all a great stay & will definitely return. Thanks very much. Debbie

A beautiful property in a gorgeous setting. We would happily return!

Lovely long weekend for my cousins 70 th birthday with 2 families including 3 babies .

It was nice to be spread across the 3 properties and to still have our own kitchen but yet to be in and out of each others houses and sharing the lovely garden and hot tub !! Garden secured for Dogs and children . Unfortunately the heating in the main house was very unreliable and the house was very cold a lot of the time - the thermostat for the heating was situated in the wrong place and consequently the rest of the house didnt heat up - we called the owner who was close by and he had to come a couple of times - we had to light the log burner on the last morning - this was disappointing - the Hot water was also too hot in the main house and could be a potential hazard when bathing young or old !! The drinking / wine Glasses were disappointing and a varied hotch potch of sizes , styles and quality some being plastic - which when you are paying a lot for 2 nights one would hope for much better standard . Otherwise we had a great time and would not hesitate to recommend, the surrounding country side is lovely and we did lots of nice walks and had a fabulous Bithday Tea at The Haycock Manor Hotel -which is most definitely worth a visit .

Fantastic stay.

Great facility, perfect for our needs. Lots of really good space to spread out if needed. Kitchen so well stocked with good quality knives, garlic press, tea towels etc. All the things you never get provided in other holiday homes. I didn't need to bring my own.

Absolutely stunning property!

Even bigger than it looks in the pictures. We stayed for a weekend, a mix of friends/family and had everything we needed, so much room to spread out across the 3 barns. We were pleasantly surprised to find a bbq, and 2 long bench tables outside too. And we almost missed the hidden bedroom/ensuite behind the bookshelf! Of course the hot tub was used too. Whole weekend was perfect.

Great cottages, lots of space.

Perfect for our big group of 18, near lots of attractions.

This is a wonderful location for a get together with extended family or a group of friends - with plenty of space to enjoy yourself and great facilities.

It was also helpful to have some accommodation on the ground floor. The decor and furnishing are lovely and all was very well equipped. The hot tub was an added bonus to help us feel that we were truly on holiday!

Some minor maintenance issues which have been reported before us had not been dealt with.

The owners were absolutely brilliant on our arrival. Our Tesco delivery had arrived way too early but they had put it all in the fridge or the freezer as necessary. They were also kind enough to allow us a little more time on our departure day as no-one else was coming in that day.

Was an amazing venue to hold my dads 80th Birthday celebrations, inc a Murder Mystery party for 16 adults!

! Lovely to have Peter to pop over and check all ok on our arrival, personal touch! Enough cutlery/plates etc for all of us (did have to move it between the three properties. Welcome basket was appreciated. The only downside was the noise of the water heater? in the hidden bedroom. Would definitely stay again.

We had a fantastic big family celebration weekend at Croft Farm.

All of the accommodation and facilities really are excellent and of a very high quality and clearly a lot of thought has gone into what guests want and need. Peter was really helpful with a few minor issues. I would love to return in warmer weather and make more use of the outside space. 5 stars from us!!!

A lovely cottage and perfect for a big group.

The secure garden meant the children and dog could be let outside without worry. Good size bedrooms and facilities.

Great stay over Christmas very clean, bedding fabulous all great.

Lost heating on the last night in the barn phoned the owner he provided a couple of fan heaters this did the trick all good

Perfect property for a family get together, super location and so much space and extra lovely that they had decorated it for Christmas!

An immaculately clean and welcoming holiday let.

As a let to accommodate a large family group, like ours (15), it was hard to sit us all comfortably together in a lounge area…. Although great options for eating together. Facilities were very good, our only suggestion would be to have a couple of large casserole or cook pots so that self caterers can cook for such a large group ( luckily one of us brought along large dishes). Also small niggle that I would expect at least a full toilet roll in every bathroom and maybe a couple of spares! Other than that an excellent property and we had a really lovely weekend stay.

The property was much larger than we had initially thought and two of the properties were connected which made things even more perfect.

Host was great at responding with any queries. Was super clean, lots of amenities. One cottage was very cute with a fire and secret room- perfect for cosy winter nights. The other cottage more modern but great for hosting dinner. Hope to be back! Thank you.

It was a great place for our large family group The Hot Tub was the highlight for many of the younger ones, and it was lovely to have the space.

The adults especially appreciated the good parking spaces. It was very comfortable with great TVs and Wifi that worked well. It would have been good to have indoor access to the main house from the Granary - through the Granary living room to the Main House kitchen - only because it would have saved going outside in damp in the evenings, and issues with kids' shoes etc. Minor issue tho! Otherwise it was just right.

This is a beautiful property.

We celebrated a family birthday here and it was fantastic. The three parts to the house are beautifully furnished and very well equipped with everything you need. The gardens have a large hot tub and seating areas for enjoying, we were lucky with the weather so spent most of our time outside. The owner was lovely and extremely helpful and answered all our queries very quickly. I am very happy to give this accommodation 10 out of 10, it’s wonderful.

Our family of four generations,ages ranging for 3 years to 87, all had a fantastic week at croft Farm.

The cottages were clean and well equipped and the outside space was perfect. This really was the perfect place for our annual family holiday and would highly recommend it.

The Croft Farm is simply perfect for groups and families who want to have a break away together.

The location itself is perfect, it is a matter of minutes from the A1 so it is super convenient for travel, but once you arrive you couldn't feel more miles away from everything. We went as 4 families all with young children (and a baby) and the cottages just seemed perfect for our needs, the fact that we could have 3 living spaces was ideal when people needed space, and we could have 1 set watching a film in the Granary, another in the Farmhouse playing boardgames. While the baby was nursed in peace in the Barn. The outside space also worked amazingly, it is so communal and can be accessed from all cottages. We had lovely weather so the hot tub got a lot of use and we managed to BBQ for everyone too, we spent a lot of time just chilling in the garden knowing all the kids could play safely and dog was safely enclosed. The owners could have been more helpful in the run up to our trip and answered every query quickly. The cottages themselves were beautiful, well equipped and just perfect for groups with The Granary being the perfect eating space for all of us. Also there was much excitement because it took a little while to find the "secret" bedroom, so if you go, enjoy finding it, its genuinely special. We are already looking at dates so we can book for even longer next year :)

Perfect venue for a large family gathering such as ours.

Plenty of choice,catering for the different requirements of all age groups. Be aware if you have a small dog who likes to escape,as the Granary has a large farm gate at the end of the garden which we had to cover up. Peter the owner was very friendly and always available to help. Perfect venue for large family gatherings .Thank you

Fabulous cottage’s beautiful surroundings and wonderful place to stay.

We are a group of 16 (4 families) who have been holidaying for 16 years together this was by far the best place we have stayed. We even re booked before we left.

The cottages were beautiful, and the attention to detail was second to none!

I absolutely loved our time staying there, probably one of the nicest cottages I've stayed in! Hot tub was lovely and hot too. If you have small dogs they may be able to get out of the gates so bare that in mind, one of our dogs was a bit bigger so he was fine! No complaints, at all the facilities inside the cottage were fab! Thank you :) xx

Excellent property - 3 properties of 9 bedrooms.

A great location for a cousin reunion of 12. Wonderful layout kitchen space for meals together ❤️. Really welcoming host. Look forward to visiting again, would really recommend.

We booked this accommodation for a family reunion It was absolutely excellent, though finding the 5 th bedroom in the farm house was a challenge, it has a secret door, very unique Peter the owner was extremely helpful and happy to help Hot tub was a great addition as light pollution is quite minimal and sitting in the tub gazing at the night sky was wonderful Thank you for a great break

Our extended family went here to celebrate an 80th birthday, what a beautiful house, the two cottages are linked, one ideal for people not too good with stairs and the farmhouse was just next door.

The secret bedroom was wonderful. I would definitely recommend a stay here and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We contacted the owner in relation to a potential minor issue, they responded immediately and sorted it out. Thank you, we would love to come back.

We booked for a pre-Christmas family weekend.

3 generations including grandparents, grandchildren, aunts, uncles, cousins and everything in-between. The accommodation was ideal for all ages. Amazed at the huge space to share ( we booked all three cottages) We didn't realise that two of the cottages were connected by a corridor which was a bonus. The only thing we couldn't figure was keeping the small ground floor bedroom warm or rather above 17 degrees. This made it a bit too chilly for my my elderly mum who was unable to do the stairs to one of the more toasty rooms in the accommodation. That said, it wouldn't stop us booking again in the future. We all loved the Christmas decorations and Christmas tree. Another nice touch!

Rooms were immaculate and had all the facilities you would need for a family gathering. Safe enclosed garden for children and dog, children enjoyed the hot tub and the adults had plenty of space to gather, share meals and socialise. Perfect

We had a very comfortable stay in Croft Farm, using all 3 of the properties.

We had 3 generations in our party, so the ground floor in The Barn was ideal for the octogenarians. Everything was very clean, and beautifully kitted out. Plenty of parking and enclosed garden for our dogs was extremely helpful. We would love to visit again sometime.

We had a delightful family reunion and the accommodation was perfect for a very mixed age group.

The owner was so helpful and the hob tub checked every day. It felt like a real family home.

What a beautiful place!

We visited Croft Farm with a group of 15 adults for my husband's 50th birthday and what a perfect location for our celebrations. Croft Farm was immaculately clean, very well equipped and extremely comfortable (especially the beds)! There was plenty of space in the Granary for the whole group to socialise, as well as lots of space/seating outside for when the sun was shining. If anyone wanted their own space there were several other lounge/dining areas to do so. Papermills pub in Wansford was a 25 minute walk away (perfect to freshen you up after a few drinks the night before) and the giant map on the Granary wall came in handy to identify a scenic route. Thank you Peter for your prompt replies to my several questions and for the early check in. I would highly recommend Croft Farm to anyone getting together in a large group. We all had a brilliant time and now just need an excuse to book the place again!

Croft Farm was perfect in every way for our family reunion.

The location was ideal as we had families travelling from north and south. The property itself was very clean & cozy and suited all the different age groups within the family, The Barn, with its ground floor accommodation being perfect for the older members of group and the Granary was great for gathering at mealtimes. The hot tub was also a great hit even in the 30+ degrees heat. Peter the owner was always prompt in responding to any queries and also very accommodating in allowing us to check in earlier and check out a little later. A fabulous and memorable time was had by all and Croft Farm will always bring back happy memories.

Our stay at the Croft Farm was absolutely wonderful.

The place on arrival was spotless, with a bottle of wine in the fridge cooling and beautiful fresh flowers throughout. Peter arrived to welcome the party and was extremely friendly and helpful. We were permitted to use apples from the tree to bake crumbles and pies and enjoyed both the garden with BBQs, hot tub sessions and the lovely seating and the inside shared spaces for larger dinners and Warhammer nights! Thank you for such a delightful stay, we'll definately be returning!

We were very impressed with the high standard of cleanliness and quality of everything in the farmhouse and the barns.

There was plenty of crockery and cooking equipment, and as we had planned to eat in this was great. It was very helpful of the owner to be a bit more flexible about the arrival and leaving times. The hot tub was a great success especially for the younger members of the family. We managed to make the garden dog safe by simply moving a few items of furniture in front of the gates, but would recommend that this could be easily done with wire netting across the bottom of the gates. We had a lovely relaxing family reunion, & enjoyed the beautiful setting of the village decorated for the jubilee, and we were amazed to see red kites regularly overhead. Thank you.

Absolutely amazing - we are a group made up of 3 sometimes 4 families and spend a copious amount of time searching for ideal properties to stay to suit us all.

.. Croft Farm was perfect! The Barn was perfect for the older members of the group being all on one floor, the Farmhouse was fantastic for a couple of families with children (plenty of hiding places!) and the Granary is ideal for gathering for meals etc if you want to. Each accommodation was perfectly equipped, perfectly clean and perfectly close enough to the other properties but all still able to have some private space if needed. We had a fabulous time and we will definitely return. Oh.. and Peter is a very nice chap - left us to it but very happy to help when we needed it!

Great place to stay for a large diverse family group.

Modern and well equipped, friendly owner very helpful and cheerful. Lovely undiscovered area with plenty to explore.

The Croft Farm was perfect for the whole family to celebrate a 70th birthday as we were aged from 79 years old to 3 years old.

We were so lucky to have good weather so that we were able to enjoy the ample outdoor space too. Property was very clean and facilities very good and of a very high standard. The owner was very friendly and helpful. As there was no booking for the day we were leaving the owner very kindly let us stay a little longer than the usual vacate time.

Croft farm was absolutely stunning.

The pictures really do not show how beautiful the place is and its surroundings. As a group of 14 made up of 3 families it was so nice to be able to have our separate space over the 3 properties. The hot tub was a great addition which the kids loved. The owner Peter was so friendly and made us feel welcome. Communication prior to our stay was good too. We would 100% recommend Croft Farm to our friends and have already sent the information to a few friends that have asked for it. An image of the hot tub may be a nice addition to the listing as we were curious about this before we went.

Brilliant house for a lot of people, we had a great family get together here.

We didn't spend the time in the farmhouse as expected but one of the small properties as it had a bigger table and was more open. Decoration was fantastic, modern and comfortable. Only suggestion is possibly another sofa in there so everyone can sit comfortably. The farmhouse was as expected more farmhousey but still lovely. Great stay with lovely owners who had fantastic communication throughout the whole stay. Would recommend and stay again.

We celebrated my wife’s 70th Birthday at Croft Farm.

There were ten adults and seven children and we used all of the facilities afforded to us by The Farmhouse, The Granary and The Barn.Each of the properties was well equipped to a very high standard.Croft Farm ticked all of the boxes and we would highly recommend it.Our thanks go to Peter who made sure that we had everything we wanted.

What a place!

! We stayed at Croft farm for a long weekend and loved every single part of it. We celebrated my partner's 30th birthday. It was lovely to have all our friends together in such a beautiful place. We are definitely going to be rebooking. We had so much space and with us being a group of 16 it was the perfect place. Thank you so much!

Being a large group of 6 adults, 4 children and 2 dogs it is sometimes difficult to find the right place but this accommodation suited as perfectly.

There was plenty of room for everyone, the outdoor space was great for us all and the cleanliness of the property was 100%. Highly recommended
