A few annoying little things like.

..no bulb in shower, toilet leaking, toilet seat broken, tv in bedroom speaker distorted, the whole place is dimly lit. No walks on the doorstep so really need to take dogs out in car. All that said it is a really nice cottage with a great layout. I would definately go again.. the cottage so it is very good value.

Beautiful cottage, very comfortable.

Scenery is amazing and just a short drive away from a delightful dog friendly beach. Quiet and very peaceful. Everything needed for a relaxing self catered holiday.

Cottage was lovely shame it was filthy cooker floors fabric furniture dog hair all on it under furniture hairs an dust an rubbish Needs a good Deep clean .

We had a wonderful weeks stay, the cottage was full of character & equipped with what we needed.

I really dont understand the bad reviews myself as ive stayed in log cabins and some questionable hotels over my time. My only advice is that some of the cookware needs to be updated and the cleaning of the cottage needs to be addressed just slightly but this didnt effect our stay and as i said we had a wonderful week, one of the best holidays ive had. The owner checked in on me and gave me advise where to go within the area which I have never had before and appreciated massively. WiFi could be put in cottage to help with planning days, trips etc but it does clearly state in the descriptions no WiFi, I think some people need to read first before writting a comment on this. It was a lovely escape from the every day life & work and no phones to me and having conversations and playing board games with my 15 year old, I will cherish for a life time as he wasn't on his phone for all the time. Old school togetherness, im all for it.

Lots to do around the area including a beautiful beach in New Quay.

The cottage was very dirty and no phone signal tried to phone Sykes but had to go out village to make a call Pull cord for bathroom light and shower had been shortened so couldn’t reach it curtains hanging loose dog poo up back door.

Not secure garden and on main. Road sent complaint to Sykes but no answer cut our holiday short by a week had enough cobwebs behind all sofas and furniture also contacted the owner but still not resolved spoiled our anniversary

Nice area, lovely countryside, property 1st impression dirty inside, and out.

Dust, and cobwebs everywhere, greasy kitchen surfaces, windows dirty inside, and out. Garden overgrown, grass, weeds, bushes, and plants, ferns blocking front door entrance, this garden hadn’t been touched for months! Gardener came five days into our stay. Requested spare toilet roll at start of stay (only one available, partially used), didn’t arrive, so had to buy our own. How often do Sykes Cottages review their properties, and reassess suitability??

We had a lovely holiday overall, but unfortunately we were very disappointed with the cottage.

The exterior looked nothing like the photos on the website. The garden was extremely overgrown and poorly maintained, with long grass, weeds, and large bushes encroaching on the entrance. The outdoor table and chairs were filthy, sticky, and covered in ants. We love spending time outdoors, but the garden was so uninviting that we never used it and instead sat at the front of the property next to our car. Although the beds were clean, the rest of the cottage fell well below our expectations. There were cobwebs in virtually every corner, including between the beds, bedside tables, walls, and wardrobes. There were numerous dead flies on the windowsills, along with spider webs containing dead insects on the living room windows. Overall, the inside of the cottage was very dirty. We mentioned these issues in the visitors’ book, and confirmed our decision that we would not return. This wasn’t simply a little dust that you might expect in an old cottage—it appeared to be the result of a lack of thorough cleaning over a long period of time. We ended up using our own bleach to clean the plates and cutlery before using them and avoided using much of the kitchen equipment because we didn’t feel it was clean enough. It’s a shame, as the location itself was lovely, but the condition and cleanliness of the cottage were very disappointing.

Super cottage in a lovely location.

We had a wonderful week staying here and the weather was kind to us too so we managed to explore and make the most of the sunshine sitting in the garden. There’s a pub opposite the cottage which serves great food and everyone is very friendly. All in all a really great breakaway.

No WiFi (or phone signal) is a mixed blessing these days!

Would have preferred the former. Ironic that Sykes Cottages should email us the leaving instructions. Despite this we would not hesitate to stay again. NB the pub over the road looks closed when open - and they have WiFI!!

Lovely cottage, but some maintenance issues need addressing ,like the loose electric sockets, and loose toilet seat.

some of the windows cant be opened. The cleaning needs to be improved, several cobwebs and the windows and sills were dirty. the small garden needs maintenance, eg grass needs cutting.

Lovely cottage, we had such a great time.

The surroundings are beautiful and it’s ideal for relaxing, nice and peaceful. The place has real character and made our stay even more special.

was very comfortable. weather was appalling, so was nice being indoors, only downside was wifi, and no phone signal.

Lovely character cottage, well-equipped and ideally situated to get to all the local towns and beaches.

Friendly pub across the road. Cottage clean and comfy.

If you want a place away from the humdrum this place is perfect no phone or internet a total get away layout was amazing and the peace of mind that comes with no phone is well worth the visit
