Description

Set amidst the excitement of Chester’s city centre is this Grade II listed canal side gem, Tower View Cottage.

This 200-year-old property is perfectly positioned for that long-awaited city escape that you have been seeking, ideally suited for a couple looking for a romantic getaway or for an action-packed break.

Up three old stone steps, you will enter this friendly and inviting home with its cosy sitting room, where you will find a comfy sofa and a wall-mounted TV.

In the spacious fireplace is a multi-function electric fire, which you can flick on for additional warmth and atmosphere during the winter months.

The adjoining dining area is perfect for indulging in a takeaway, popping open a bottle of wine or delighting in your home-cooked meal.

Step into the kitchen, where you will find a range of quality appliances, inviting you in to cook up a family favourite dish, with the stable door providing easy access to the attractive courtyard and the Georgian paned window with its lovely views to the back of the property.

Head upstairs to find the two bedrooms, with the single bedroom providing views of the city walls and the tower, which is lit up in the evening with a rosy glow.

The double bedroom with its ample storage gives a calm and serene atmosphere, thanks in part to the triple glazed windows.

Continuing to impress is the south-facing courtyard, where you can look forward to a spot of alfresco dining, with the city walls as your backdrop, or listen to the faint peel of Cathedral bells on a Sunday morning while you enjoy your morning coffee.

In addition to the choice of picking up the ‘hop on, hop off’ tourist bus just down the road, you have on the doorstep a superb selection of shops, ranging from convenience stores, supermarkets and high-street shops, accompanied by a plethora of quirky cafés, fine-dining restaurants, cosy pubs and fun-filled bars.

Uncover the city’s past by exploring the walls and the Cathedral, by visiting the amphitheatre of Roman times, as well as by shopping in and around the famous Tudor 'Rows', home to a fine selection of independent shops and boutiques.

Summer afternoons and evenings can be spent walking beside the River Dee, in Chester Meadows or enjoying a picnic and an open air performance in Grosvenor Park.

You might even be lucky enough to experience one of Chester's famous Mystery Plays.

Spend glorious days at the Chester Racecourse or meet the animals at the world renowned Chester Zoo, home to 35,000 animals and 128 acres of zoological gardens, promising a great day out for families.

For those feeling more adventures, take a scenic journey across North Wales to the Snowdonia National Park, where you will find a wide choice of outdoor activities, as well as climbing the highest mountain in the country, Snowdon or Yr Wyddfa as it is known in Welsh.

See the lovely Cheshire countryside with easy access via public transport links from the bus station just down the road or from Chester train station where you can also travel directly to Liverpool and Manchester, both hosting their own unique experiences for a family of all ages and tastes to enjoy.

A wonderful city break for a couple or a small family.

Tower View cottage was wonderful.

Central to all the city centre attractions, spotlessly clean, well equipped and tastefully decorated. The courtyard was a lovely setting for breakfast. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely return. Fiona was a very attentive yet unobtrusive host.

Lovely little cottage backing onto the canal which can be enjoyed from the courtyard overlooking it .

The cottage and its facilities are first rate. The front of the cottage however opens out onto a busy city road with the bus interchange only a few hundred yards away with vehicles coming and going morning to evening. There is extra glazing at the front to block off some of the traffic noise but the main bedroom is at the front and so ,for light sleepers could be a problem . So overall it's a balance between tranquil canal at the back and city hustle and bustle at the front . For us the traffic noise did detract from the charms of the canal, but if you're not noise sensitive,it's certainly a well situated cottage for all that Chester has to offer to visitors.

Tower View is a lovely cottage, comfortable and fully equipped with everything you could wish for.

The patio is a delightful little suntrap. The cottage is ideally situated for shops, restaurants, bus interchange and train station.
