This is a hidden gem.

Quirky upside down house, with beautiful views across the valley. It was well equipped, comfortable and everything needed for a holiday stay. Close to many places of interest.

Kitchen has everything you need, and you can't beat the scenery.

Location is very good being away from the main road in a peaceful spot with lovely views, but still within a short walk of public bus services to Llangollen (or even as far as Barmouth!

) or in the opposite direction towards Wrexham. Note it is a bit of an uphill walk to the cottage so if travelling by bus be prepared for it. There are also footpaths a short distance from the property to explore the surrounding area. Instructions to find and access the property were very clear too, and we were warmly greeted by Bronwyn who had kindly opened the windows prior to our arrival during the recent hot spell of weather. The kitchen in the property was well equipped, the bed and sofa were both comfortable, the rooms were a good size, and the patio furniture enabled us to enjoy the weather and lovely views. Welcome pack of a large bottle of milk and biscuits was a pleasant addition. Didn't skimp on essentials such as toilet paper, tissues, and kitchen towel either, which have sometimes been limited when we've stayed in other places. Adequate space to park directly outside the property as well. All in all a very pleasant stay.

We had a truly wonderful and peaceful stay in this beautiful cottage; it was more than we could have ever wished for!

The views are simply breathtaking, and the house felt so warm and cozy from the moment we arrived. Bronwen is a fantastic host whose thoughtfulness shines through in every detail, from the welcoming shortbread and milk to the incredibly well-equipped kitchen (stocked with everything from spices to cling film). We loved the "admin" nook with its impressive bookshelf, the super-fast shower, and the exceptionally comfortable bed. While we spent most days exploring, it was a treat to return to the comfy recliner sofa and the large TV. With great WiFi and plenty of storage throughout, it really felt like a home away from home. Thank you, Bronwen, for your amazing hospitality!

A very comfortable cottage; stunning to sit on the patio.

Walks in the region superb, local facilities very good. We intend to go back.

A most wonderful cottage with all the facilities one would hope for.

The views from the lounge and dining room windows were to die for. Great to have a sitting and picnic area in the sun too. The stairs to the lounge were a little steep but no problems for us two geriatrics using the rail. The owner was most helpful. We would certainly visit again. Recommended

The cottage was well equipped, warm and in a great location especially if you enjoy walking and don't find hills a problem.

Bronwen was friendly and helpful and on hand in case of queries, although there were none. Considering it was a January stay we were fortunate with the weather, but it would be lovely to sit outside in summer looking at the view and enjoying a drink or meal. We very much enjoyed our stay.

Lovely place to stay, asl long as you don't mind walking up a steep short hill.

Alternatively driving. We enjoyed our stay, pub, coffee shop, walks, anal and Aquaduct all within walking distance. Llangollen just under 5 km walk along the canal.

This cottage is a must spectacular views very peaceful and very well maintained.

Ideal for visiting many local places, Chester park and ride is very convenient and cheap. The cottage has lots of charm and qualities.

Ideal location close to UNESCO World Heritage site and with public transport connections a short walk downhill.

Good spot for walkers; maps and guides provided on loan. Very comfortable and roomy accommodation with sitting-room and kitchen, and a pleasant garden with outside seating and off-road parking.

Superb cottage with lovely views over the countryside.

Wonderful host Bronwen greeted us on arrival and was incredibly helpful. Comfortable lounge with countryside views, very comfortable bed, kitchen with every facility. Easy parking. Very pleasant village. Easy access to Llangollen with its railway. The Pontcysyllte Aqueduct (and nearby lovely park of Ty Mawr, with views of the viaduct and easy parking) is very close. Bala with its relaxing narrow gauge railway (we were very lucky with the weather!) and Lake Vyrnwy a 50 minute drive away, and Chester Park and Ride (very cheap and efficient) about 25 minutes. Fantastic stay in beautiful and friendly Wales, with The Cottage definitely recommended. Hope to stay there again in the future.

A very nice place to stay.

There are lots of things to see and do, such as the narrowboats and the aquaducs

The cottage was clean, comfortable, everything we needed and good quality bed and furnishings.

A fault developed with the microwave and this was dealt with promptly by the owner with a satisfactory outcome. We loved our stay and appreciated the garden with the bird feeders and the owner was very welcoming and informative on our arrival.

A perfectly placed cottage with lots to do within a short walk or drive, fantastic panoramic walks available from the door, approximately a mile to the world heritage site aquaduct.

Bronwen is a fantastic hostess with a wealth of local knowledge and has stocked the cottage with everything you might need, including a fabulous selection of local walks and tourist information for the area. Local shops and takeaways deliver to the property. It's cosy, peaceful and has some fantastic views across the Dee valley.

The property has outstanding long reaching views but that does mean it's a bit of a climb upto the property by car and then a short private driveway down to the property which may require some caution depending on what type of car you drive.

There were some walks from the door. Wi-Fi worked well. Bathroom was slightly eclectic but worked fine. Staircase is narrow and steep and there are steps upto the bedroom. The landing floor is topsy turvy but it's an old cottage. Bedroom is comfortable with nice furnishings. The kitchen has everything you need and more! There were far too many items of crockery in the cupboards so you had practically nowhere to store food. Recent hob and oven so both very clean. Nice outdoor table and chairs. We had a good week rarely using the car.

A very comfortable stay in beautiful surroundings.

This is a professionally presented holiday cottage thanks to the owner Bronwen and her housekeeper. An ideal location for exploring the UNESCO World Heritage Site which is the Llangollen Canal within a 15 minute walking distance; with the Offa's Dyke footpath similarly located. A good selection of pubs, restaurants and cafes close by; all with good food and welcoming staff

Our stay at The Cottage was excellent it was well equipped and clean.

The cottage was very comfy and the veiw from the garden was stunning. Bronwen was very helpful and friendly. We will be returning for another stay.

Very pleasant property, tranquil and with lovely views across the valley.

Owner very helpful. One slight drawback was that there was nowhere to eat within easy walking distance so we had to drive into Llangollen in the evening. However, this did not spoil our holiday.

Perfect location for a peaceful break in beautiful countryside setting .

The cottage kitchen is equipped with everything you need and more. The living room is upstairs and the views from the comfort of the sofa are stunning. The bed is comfy and the bathroom shower is powerful. We had the benefit of great weather so after a days sightseeing in Llangollen and beyond we were able to sit out on the patio .Bronwen is a perfect host , the milk and shortbread left for us on arrival was much appreciated. In my opinion the website photos do not do this beautiful property justice .

Brilliant excellent well kept cottage in idyllic location

We loved out stay in Llangollen.

Plenty to do in the area even though the weather was quite wet when we stayed there. Lots of lovely walks and interesting places to see. Highlights were walking over the Pontcysillitis aqueduct, walks along the Llangollen canal both ways, walking along the Offa`s Dyke over the hills to Llangollen , climbing up to Castell Dinas Bran ( not for the faint hearted ), visiting Plas Newydd House and a lovely walk to the Horseshoe Falls and back. When the rain was heavy we just enjoyed relaxing in the lovely warm lounge at the cottage and looking out of the window at the gorgeous view. The kitchen was very well equipped and we did quite a bit of cooking while we were there. Very quiet location and peaceful holiday which was what we needed.

The layout of the cottage suited us well and the view from the garden was superb. Loved that it was close to great walking and had character.

This cottage is in a nice location and well equipped.

Sadly I could only give 3 stars because the lounge sofa was hard and uncomfortable. Though we only sat on it for a couple of hours in an evening my husband and I both came away with bad backs. I will be seeing my osteopath to get sorted when I get home. Such a shame . This supplied an otherwise very nice holiday.

Everything there was clean and very cosy and comfortable. You went above and beyond to make our stay as stress free as possible. Great location for walking, cycling and the views, especially from the cottage, were amazing. Your Lemon drizzle loaf was lovely and the welcome touch of milk and shortbread biscuits was much appreciated.

It's a cute little cottage, a bit DIY in fit out, but the location and the friendly pheasant in the garden make it a lovely place to stay.

A charming cottage with a homely feel, it is equipped with all that you need for an enjoyable stay.

The garden and view is delightful, we enjoyed having a meal or a drink outside. Bronwen is very welcoming and is there if you need anything but keeps a low profile. She even brought us a slice of homemade cake which was delicious and went down well with a cuppa!

A fabulous find.

A fairly quiet, rural location, not far from Llangollen, with beautiful views. Walking distance to the Pontcysyllte Aquaduct and the Llangollen Canal. Bronwen, the owner, was very welcoming. She was easy to contact, and very helpful with recommendations of where to eat, prior to our stay, and was generally available if we needed anything, though not at all intrusive. The cottage had everything we needed, and more, making it easy to stay in and eat if we wanted to.

A return stay at this little gem.

Very comfortable, clean with clearly a lot of thought gone into making everything so nice. Great location as you can walk in every direction from the cottage. A beautiful part of the world. So much to do and see if you like wildlife, nature, golf, cycling or watersports. We hope to return next year.

Beautiful cottage, friendly and helpful host, but not to in your face.

Stunning views Lovley garden full of wildlife. When the sun shines the garden is a sun trap it was Lovley to sit out side with a coffee just watching the wildlife. The cottage is well equipped if you don’t want to eat out we cooked a some nice meals. Its a nice spacious cottage. The bathroom is lovey and always warm the shower is perfect no messing with the temperature. The heating is amazing a couple of nights it turned cold we popped the heating on and it got hot straight away I wish my heating at home was as good . I am looking at booking here again fingers crossed if nothing changes next year , I highly recommend this cottage we had a perfect weeks stay .

A south facing patio with exceptional views from the garden, which we were fortunate to take full advantange of because of such good weather. Also same wonderful views from the kitchen and lounge. Lovely walks from the cottage such as the amazing Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and along the canal to LLangollen town. Two supermarkets within two to three miles and pubs for reasonably priced meals even closer. Although Bronwen the owner lived in the cottage attached she was not in the slightest intrusive. All the local people were extremely friendly. We always read the reviews that people make before we book any cottage, however, in all honesty, we loved the cottage and the area and would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending 'The Cottage' to our family and friends, or anyone else! We most definitely will return. Many thanks Bronwen and our best wishes to you too.

Beautiful characterful cottage in a superb setting.

Views from upstairs lounge are amazing. Comfortable, peaceful, very well equipped and a good shower. New boiler providing excellent heating and hot water. So many interesting places to visit - breakfast in the Ponderosa on top of the horseshoe pass a must, especially if the wind is gale force!!! Walk the viaducts and canal paths, calling in at well placed watering holes along the way. Friendly host a mine of local information, and makes really good cake. Thank you Bronwen for sharing your cottage.

One of the most comfortable holiday homes we have ever stayed in.

Very well equipped, the downstairs kitchen had everything we needed and the upstairs living room is so cosy. Amazing, panoramic views, and so many places of interest and beauty to visit. We have already booked again. Many thanks to our friendly host for providing a warm welcome and really valuable information on trips and walks.

The cottage is well situated being 10 minutes drive from Llangollen and 3 minutes from the famous Pontcysyllte aqueduct.

Walking over the aqueduct provides splendid views of the river Dee and the surrounding hills. It was our first visit to Llangollen and we found it a lovely location with nice places to eat and plenty to see and do. We took the opportunity to take the short journey to visit the lovely city of Chester and to spend time at Chester zoo. The Flat at The Cottage is well fitted out with all the facilities you need for a week's holiday. There are good views from the garden and plenty of opportunities for walkers. We met the owner who lives in The Cottage. Bronwen is very nice and willing to help with any questions relating to the flat and the area. We would certainly choose to stay there again and recommend it to any couple wanting a nice quiet place to stay. We were fortunate to enjoy a week of sunshine making our holiday most enjoyable.
