Atlantic Waves

This is a lovely ground floor flat with a view of the sea.

I was a little bit concerned about it having read some of the reviews, but honestly it was perfect, very comfortable and well equipped. We had a great time staying there. Just a note, the dishwasher is not slimline, it’s a table top dishwasher and small. It didn’t bother us, but I thought it was worth a mention.

It felt a bit like we were the first visitors of the season after the property had been forgotten about for the winter.

There was a thick layer of dust on pictures, wall lights, and the clothes horse. The clothes horse was broken - this had been commented on previously in the guest book. There were dead flies in the wall lights. We couldn’t get the extractor fan over the hob to work - this had previously been commented upon in the guest book. The covering of grease on the light fitting above suggests this has been a problem for a while. The dishwasher seemed like a low budget replacement for a previously built in one and had both salt and rinse aid warning lights showing. There was a pair of underwear in the washing machine! The battery in the remote for the stereo was flat. The bedroom door had been shoddily painted. It generally felt like the property gets away with being sub-standard because it’s in an amazing location. Whilst the arrival gifts were great, general maintenance and care would be my priority.

From day 1, we noted oven was dirty, not been cleaned, BT hub channels were not available so had no TV for a week.

This was difficult with young children in the evenings. I reported the issues at day 1 and someone was going to come round. No one did. Eventually on evening of last day, I received a call to see if all issues were resolved, I said no. Enquired about having no TV channels, I was told the small JVC report (which controls the cd unit) would power the BT hub for channels and the white remote was to switch on the TV. This was clearly incorrect advice. I even quoted the guidance given in the handbook left in the property re the BT remote needed. I had to purchase an amazon firestick to watch streaming channels for the kids. I reported this all but had no response. Very disappointed with the service and cleaning of the oven. Also would appear the dishwasher placed in the kitchen during our stay was temporary as it was too small for a family of 4 and we could not fit standard plates. Only could wash some glasses and cutlery. Kitchen was not equipped like other SA accommodation in Cornwall. The Internet was great and beds were comfortable.

The property was very nice to stay in .

Comfortable ,very clean and tidy. With all the accoutrements to do your own cooking. No complaints.

We enjoyed a week's break at Atalantic Waves, as we did last September, and were pleased again with the apartment.

However, we have two items to bring to your attention for future guests, which includes us for a possible further break. The tap in the sink in the bathroom, when in the hot position, only delivers a trickle of water into the sink and is only "warm". The other topic relates to the cill below the front door. The sealant/gap filler around the cill needs rectifying as there were a lot of ants in this area on our last two days. Fortunately they weren't in the apartment but this needs correcting. Firstly, the internet did not work for the entirety of our stay which meant we had to rely on expensive 4G coverage and the advertised entertainment package on the TV, Netflix, BT Sports etc, was not working.

We did report the internet fault whilst there and was told there was a fault in the local area and the engineer wouldn’t be attending until after we had left. This may have been the case, but we still paid for entertainment we didn’t receive so I believe we should be compensated for this. However, the main problem we had with the accommodation was just how dirty, run down and generally dated it was. These include: • Dust and spider webs in the kitchen cupboards. • Crockery and cutlery which clearly had not been cleaned before our arrival and had been sitting in cupboards/drawers collecting dust and with dried food on. • Mold on the inside of the main bedroom cupboard. • Mold on the inside of the kitchen cupboards. • A noticeable layer of dust on top of everything inside the main glass fronted cabinet in the living room, including glasses, which meant we had to fill the dishwasher with glasses before they were clean enough to drink out of. • A broken blind in the kitchen which just unfolds unless it was fully rolled up and left to balance on top of itself. This meant the blind could only be fully open, or fully down at any one time! Also, both kitchen blinds were covered in greasy food stains and the pull chains were caked in grease and were rusty. • Dust and stains on the skirting boards throughout the property. • Dirty, rusty bathroom towel rails. • Rust all along the base of the bar stools in the kitchen, which also had worn out upholstery. • A children’s highchair which was covered in food. • Mold and dirt around the fridge seals. • A frosted freezer section in the fridge which meant we could fit hardly anything in the freezer. • Food stains in the fridge. • The headrest rail above the bed in the main bedroom was covered in dust and dry skin flakes. • A filthy, moisture absorbing bag in the main bedroom cupboard which was caked in dust and filthy marks. • The storage cupboards either side of the front door inside the property were dirty and dusty. Unfortunately, all of this meant that we decided to leave a day earlier and travel home as we no longer wanted to stay here. The state of the accommodation severely impacted our holiday and we would like to be fully refunded as it was not found as advertised. Lovely apartment in a pretty good location with parking.

We had added bonus of fabulous weather. Not a zip locked bed though in king sized bedroom (description needs amending) and small window lock was broken. Some pans didn't work on the hob, but that was a minor point. Overall very good accommodation..

It was very difficult to get the moisture out of the apartment despite intensive ventilation.

Not even the large plates fit in the dishwasher.

Beautiful cottage in a great location, at a good price.

Very well decorated, fully furnished with all that you need for an enjoyable self catering holiday. The beds were particularly comfortable and the cottage was nice and warm ensuring a peaceful nights sleep. We enjoyed visiting the local beach which was a short walk down the hill, the central position to other attractions ensured travel time was a minimum . Thank you for the welcome pack it was a pleasant surprise. Would definitely recommend this cottage to family and friends , many thanks and see you again, hopefully soon

Lovely flat, as described.

Very clean and comfortable and pretty furnishings. We really enjoyed the sea view. The TV was irritatingly intermittent - an updated BT box might help? Regarding small details, the can- opener and kitchen scissors are too well- used and need replacing- it's the small things that catch you out in holiday 'let's'. All in all, a great place to stay.

The apartment was lovely, we would have had a problem with the fuses for the appliances if our son wasnt with us as to turn them on he had to stand on a chair to reach them and the cooker was complicated to use,but that is my personal view,i am not very tall so i couldnt reach the cupboards to get crockery out nor could i reach the microwave nevertheless we had a great holiday and the beds are so comfortable the shower was easy to access

Beautiful apartment.

Lovely comfy beds & bedding. Delightful bathroom with good shower, comfy settees & good sea view. Own parking space which was a bonus plus rotary close line in the garden. All needs catered for. We had a problem with the dinning chairs which was dealt with promptly. The lack of a bread bin was a problem as we had to use one of the drawers & no cupboard space for food. The kitchen bin under the sink was also very awkward to use. A waste bin in each bedroom would have been a bonus. The floor didn't seem clean & we had to clean the bedroom drawers as we found hairs in one. Otherwise it was a lovely apartment which we would be more than happy to return to & recommend to our friends.

We overall had a lovely stay here.

The property was as expected from the photos and with a nice view of the sea! The beds and sofa were really comfy and the welcome treats were a lovely touch. The property itself was nice, comfortable and overall clean although we did have a few issues which we expressed to Carbis Bay Holidays who were quick to respond. Our toddler had dirty feet after crawling on the floor for a short time when we first arrived which wasn’t great so we ended up buying a mop and cleaning it ourselves. The highchair hadn’t been cleaned properly either which made us reluctant to use the travel cot due to cleanliness concerns. It is great that these items are available to use but please make sure that they are cleaned thoroughly and are presentable for the next guests as it’s not a great first impression. It was also inconvenient that the dishwasher was out of use for our stay but these things happen and we appreciated the good will gesture from the owner. Also bear in mind if travelling with mobile babies and toddlers that there are a few steps in the property.

We've stayed at several in the area and this was one of our favourites! Lovely comfortable sofas and beds, fantastic sea view, all the kitchen utensils you could want and parking right outside your door, what else could you need? We will definitely book again, thank you!

Lovely little ground floor apartment in a good location.

Well-equipped kitchen (incl a dishwasher and a washing machine, though information we received described it as washer/dryer and we couldn’t find instructions drying), nice bathroom, comfortable beds and sofas, good wifi and TV (but only basic package for those who prefer Sky). Off road parking right outside is a bonus. Great location - handy for local transport in and out of St Ives on foot or via the bus, train and the 'Coaster' bus. There’s a large Tesco for groceries 5 minutes walk away and it’s a 20 minute walk to Carbis Bay beach but a steep walk back up the hill. We would definitely recommend Atlantic Waves and Carbis Bay and would return.

We had a great holiday, this was our first time visiting Cornwall.

The property was exactly as advertised, it was clean and well looked after. We all enjoyed our stay and would happily rebook to come back.

A great little ground floor apartment and a good base for exploring.

The apartment has everything you need for your stay. Carbis Bay beach is beautiful and only a short walk down the hill - beware, its a steep walk back up. Dedicated car parking space, which is great. The coastal path to St Ives is a lovely walk and there's a regular bus service too.

We were really impressed with the apartment.

The apartment was clean and well stocked with all the things you'd need for a comfortable holiday. The little extras were really appreciated, for example the boules, kite and body boards in the cupboards. The apartment was easy to get to, park at, and a very reasonable distance from the beach and local facilities. The only minor things we noticed were that when we arrived certain plates and cutlery had bits of food remaining on them, so I assume it was the last occupant had not cleaned them very well, but worth adding to your check list. The second is that there is only a very small (Parmesan?) cheese grater, a full size one would be most useful. Also, we brought our own plug extensions which was fortunate, as there were not enough free sockets in the apartment for extra electronics like our laptops. Saying that though, this is one of the best places we've stayed in, and would certainly return!

We loved the apartment and it's location.

Its a 30 minute walk into st ives with a bus stop as an alternative 100 mtrs away excellent parking space. We would not hesitate in returning to Atlantic Waves. The Hemingways

We had a lovely stay at Atlantic Waves.

The property was perfect with everything we needed - well-equipped kitchen (including a dishwasher and a washing machine), nice bathroom, comfy beds and sofas, good wifi and TV and easy parking right outside. We were also really impressed with its location - so handy for transport in and out of St Ives on foot or via the train and for the 'Coaster' bus, close to the large Tesco and a (steep but manageable) walk to Carbis Bay beach - or options to pay for parking closer to the beach. We had our car with us but it was often much easier not to use it. Highly recommend Atlantic Waves and Carbis Bay.

This is a lovely property, just outside St.

Ives. It is on a very step gradient to be able to walk to the train station, but easy accessible by car. The apartment is small and modern, with everything catered for and we had a lovely few days. The only negative was that the bedrooms are close the main road and you can hear the traffic in the mornings which was quite loud. The apartment close by on day 1 was having renovation work which was very noisy and not relaxing, however I contacted Carbis holidays had a very prompt response and there after no further noise, so thank you.

The apartment is lovely and well equipped.

The only little niggle was that the fan unit behind the sofa is quite noisy and couldn't be turned off and there was a lot of noise from the flat above (but that can't be helped). Fully enjoyed our break away and would return.

Amazing property, it had everything we needed.

Found a problem with drainage on bathroom sink.

Unable to locate contact for housekeeper. Phoned Carbis Holidays office to report it. Sorted within hours. Excellent response.

Perfect place for us away from the crowds but easy walking distance to St Ives, couldn’t get in any restaurants so having a supermarket across the road helped a lot.

parking right outside was a bonus and the apartment had everything we needed for the week would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful apartment over looking Carbis Bay.

Had everything needed for a family holiday. Location was excellent for visiting St Ives only a 25 minute walk or a quick bus ride. Path to the beach is very steep so not suitable for anyone with walking difficulties. Lovely little garden attached to the property and it felt like a real home from home.
