  • "The apartment was beautiful, however we had children with us who stayed downstairs in the two single bedroom and the smells that were coming out of the shower and toilet were unspeakable."

    We had to buy drain stuff and keep their patio door open majority of the time. I hope this will be fixed for future visitors. Also the balcony furniture between the two main rooms were covered in cob webs and bird poo, which I guess is some what understandable as it’s out door furniture. Maybe some covers would be useful? The two main bedrooms are lovely with again good views(aside from train side) Kitchen was very well equipped with all that we needed. All in all a lovely comfortable stay, amazing views which I would love everyday and so close to places. Thank you so much

  • "Having read the bad reviews left in late 2021 we were very nervous about staying here."

    We were notified by Sykes prior to our stay the property had undergone refurbishment which is correct. The owners have clearly spent a lot of money upgrading this apartment to a better level than it was previously. The beds are brand new and are extremely comfortable. Linen and towels are also new. The whole apartment has been painted through from top to bottom and all carpets replaced. All of the lounge furniture has been replaced and makes the property feel very homely. Full credit must be given to the owners for their investment. The smell from the shower in the lower bedroom is still present but not as pungent. We left the door shut and didn't use it so it didn't cause us an issue. The only thing I would say the apartment is missing is a pair of oven gloves which in the grand scheme of things is nothing. There is literally nothing wrong with this apartment so book with confidence. Having stayed in other apartments like this in the block the fact the owner allows you to use the garage is a god send. Everyone is hosed down and wet suits washed and left to dry in the garage overnight along with our beach things. It means the sand stays outside and helps to keep the apartment tidy. What did let the apartment down is there has been an animal in the apartment as there was animal hair all over the Lounge carpet. This is the only reason I marked the cleanliness down as Sykes' cleaner has not hoovered the carpet properly. We only knew about this as I am allergic to pet hair and I couldn't stop sneezing! We would book this apartment again if the price was more in line with what the competitors are charging and not what Sykes want to charge!

  • "The apartment is in a lovely location, was clean and easy to access."

    The boiler was not working so there was no heating or hot water, this was due to low pressure suggesting the heating had not been used for months and is clearly not checked prior to check ins. There was no gas coming through to the oven so that was not usable until a gas engineer was sent out to fix it. Sadly there was a lot of building work going on around the apartment while I was staying. Including in the house opposite and the apartment next door which made spending time indoors from 8-4pm very unpleasant. On complaining about the building work noise Carbis Bay Holidays did nothing to visit the property to understand the problem or help. The owners were advised of these problems but took no responsibility for the issues. I requested a refund to reflect the detriment to the comfort of my stay on 5/7 days (70%) of my stay. I was offered 2% back as a gesture of goodwill, which was totally inadequate. I won't stay in this property again and would avoid other Carbis Bay Holidays properties too.

We are sorry that you experienced an issue with the boiler during your stay, we can confirm that the owners were in the property just before your arrival date and experienced no issues so it is unlikely to be from lack of use, therefore we have in-formed our property management team in case it is a possible fault with the system. In regard to the gas issue, we have looked into this and are unsure how it could have happened and for this we apologise, but are glad that the engineer that attended was able to rectify this so quickly. Unfortunately, we had not been made aware of any building work that was going to be taking place and we sincerely apologise that this disturbed your stay. Sadly the owners were also not made aware of the building work prior to it starting and therefore we could not add this to the website to inform guests. We do take inconvenience and disturbance to a guest's stay seriously and put any compensation requests to the owners and in your case the owners authorised a 2% good-will gesture to be returned to you. We are sorry to hear that you were unhappy with this refund offered, however we hope to get the opportunity to welcome you back in the future.   • "The apartment this time (having stayed here 5-6 times now) was pretty grubby, marks on the walls, dusty ledges / skirting boards, used cutlery in the kitchen drawers, the carpet is disgusting and needs a deep clean if not replacing all together and the bed was extremely uncomfortable (sags in the middle), drains foul smelling downstairs and the noise from building works next door and across the road was awful."

    Your high chair is totally grim too. Sadly won’t be returning again which is a shame after so many years, I see you have hiked the prices up for next year but the quality doesn’t anywhere near warrant this.

  • "The apartment exceeded all my expectations, just looking at the pictures doesn’t do it justice."

    Everything was clean when we moved in, even carpets seemed steamed. The biggest plus, however, was the proximity to the beach! Literally 3 min walk and not as crowded as St Ives. Would go back there again, for sure

Perhaps if visitors are going into St Ives by train a useful tip if there are 4 travelling together is to get a 1 stop group ticket for £4 return instead of £2 each, although the sign on Carbis station does not tell you this! if there is no one in the ticket office, catch the train to St Ives & buy the tickets there!"     The amazing views of the bay were fantastic and as described. I have shown photographs to friends and they find it difficult to believe that this is part of the English Coast line. The apartment felt more like a home than holiday rentals we have used in the past and was exceptionally well appointed. The description on the web site is not over exaggerated. There was something to cater for all ages and It was particularly good to have all the things required for the beach. The proximity of the railway station meant we were able to plan days out without having to take the car and we enjoyed the local fish and chip shop which provided excellent quality at a good price.I can honestly say that we are planning to return in the near future to enjoy more of the delights that Cornwall and Ocean Cove has to offer." St Ives 2 miles ; Hayle 3.5 miles ; Penzance 8.5 miles

Just a short drive from iconic St Ives, the seaside village of Carbis Bay is best-known for its beautiful stretch of pure white sand. With turquoise waters and sheltered conditions, the beach feels almost subtropical and is the perfect spot for a good old-fashioned day by the sea. The beach is also home to the Ocean Sports Centre, so if sunbathing is not really your thing, why not hire a kayak or SUP and get out on the water instead. Or why not treat yourself to a Spa day at the delightful hotel which overlooks the beach and has a fabulous terrace where cocktails can be enjoyed in the Cornish sunshine? Carbis Bay has a small range of local shops and restaurants as well as a fish & chip takeaway and railway branch line. The train journey from Carbis Bay into St Ives is perhaps one of the most beautiful in the country; St Ives additionally makes for a great day out, with plenty of galleries to explore. The quayside town of Hayle also isn't far and is home to activities for the all the family, including a golf and a wildlife sanctuary. The Godrevy Nature Reserve and Penwith Heritage Coast are also within easy reach from Carbis Bay, providing outdoors and watersports plans with even more activities to partake in, including coasteering and birdwatching. Carbis Bay is truly a wonderful holiday location for those wanting to experience Cornwall's breathtaking coastline.

There is a Good Housekeeping Bond of £250 for this property. Access from the driveway is up 12 steps (with hand rail) to the front door.
A carpeted staircase provides access to the upstairs bedrooms via 13 steps.

Building Work Notice - Planned for Early 2023
This work on the development is for external redecoration of the seaward side of the building including replacement of the metal corners, bellcasts and render beading with plastic, and making good, replacement of gutters and downpipes and repainting. The period it is due to cover is 1st February to 30th April 2023 but this may change due to weather or availability of trades and materials so please bear in mind when booking your stay.
