Shamal

Absolutely loved our stay at Shamal.

It’s so well located with easy access to beaches, a supermarket and places to visit. The house itself is spacious and clean and it really suited us and our teenagers. They loved the extra TV space on the top floor. We all enjoyed the big living area with a view out across the sea. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again and I’m sure we will be back!

The property in size and location is brilliant and has everything to hand.

It’s the first time we have had to get the sweeping brush and hoover out when we arrived and also felt we needed to get cleaning products. The balcony looked like a beach and beer cans were behind the seats. The run in the living room my daughter was playing with her toys and her trousers were covered in sand and other bits. We opened the windows in the water bedroom because of the damp smell and got covered in dust from the window sill. All downstairs smells of damp but this has been mentioned on previous reviews. The door lock on the main bathroom fell off lucky we were in the let my wife out. The sheets in the master bedroom need to be binned the pillow cases had bleach marks and they had been washed one many times. The kettle also needs changing the lid can fall off when making drinks. For the value the property was I was disappointed, I know it’s summer holidays which makes the price more but defo needs some work. Thank you.

This is our second time in Shamal.

Compare with the first time in 2022, the house is older and normal T&W are more visible. The property was presented clean and the owner did much to make it a home away from home. We had great time again in the beautiful Shamal.

The most fantastic views from the balcony and mezzanine level and not far from carbis bay beach and a lovely walk into St Ives.

Shamal is a beautiful house, and was impeccably clean when we arrived.

The living space (first and second floors) is very comfortable, well equipped and a fantastic place to spend time relaxing. However, the ground floor felt and smelled damp and was much colder than the rest of the house. After spending time in the lounge, dining area, kitchen and 'playroom', we didn't really want to go to bed as this issue meant that the bedrooms (despite being tastefully decorated) were not welcoming.

Shamal was a very nice property to holiday in with lovely views from the windows.

There were a few chipped pieces of crockery but as there were only 2 of us it wasn’t an issue. The bedrooms were great with very comfortable beds, in the en-suite bedroom there were 2 hairdryers of which 1 didn’t work. The bulb needs replacing above the mirror in the family bathroom though this may have been done now. The open plan kitchen/lounge is very spacious and has a relaxing feel to it, the balcony was good to sit out in the evening. I would stay at shamal again.

Lovely property.

Clean & well maintained. Great location. Shame that the trees on the drive were overgrown which blocked the sea view. Lots of chips in cups & crockery. After staying next door for the last couple of years for the same price, we missed the slippers & robes & welcome pack

We had a fabulous time at Shamal .

It exceeded all our expectations. The listing was accurate. The decor furnishings and equipment were of a high standard. Overall a comfortable accommodation that I would thoroughly recommend and I would love to visit again.

An excellent property in an excellent location.

Perfectly set up for a family visit. We stayed for 2 weeks over Christmase and New Year and the house suited a family group. Handy for everything in the are 2 car spaces so people can visit. Warm, airy with a high standard of finish and furnishings. Already highly recommended Steve, Laverne and George

Certainly not 5 star has stated Nowhere does it say you share a drive which makes it difficult especially when both parties are on the drive at the same time The property itself , not cleaned fully dust in plenty of areas .

TVs in bedrooms and top floor don’t work , bin in kitchen not working which has been reported several times , sliding doors in living room only one works and the other is only secure by one sag jammer , en-suite shower mouldy , should have privacy blinds in entrance, main bathroom shaving light doesn’t work . These things should be easy to fix yet you don’t expect to pay top dollar and see these faults especially if you advertise has 5 star

Gorgeous accommodation.

Generally very clean. Lots of attention to detail and extremely comfortable. Great views of Carbis Bay and lovely coastal walk to St Ives on doorstep. Really can't fault it apart from, as others have pointed out, the check out time; way too early and the email from Sykes cottages, reminding me of the checkout procedure, pinging on my phone at 5am on Saturday wasn't great either, it's a holiday!! Saying that I would recommend and would use both Carbis Bay Holidays and Sykes again.

We had a lovely stay and thought that the property was well equipped and comfortable.

We loved the views from the main living area. We would recommend the property to others. We found the property a little cold at times with the temperature set to 20 C or 16 C depending on the time of day (our stay was in December), especially given that the main living room is very large. Luckily we did manage to turn up the temperature in the evening. Also, the 9 am kick out time is quite harsh. 10 am would have been a nicer time to leave. As far as we were aware, nobody was staying there after us. I think that ending your holiday with a very early departure is too harsh. I think that it would be nice if Carbis Bay Holidays allowed for more flexibility for arrival and departure times, especially in winter when less people are staying. Otherwise, everything else was spot on!

We stayed as a family, we loved every minute of our stay, Shamal was clean, modern, had everything we needed in the kitchen, excellent, great position, walk down to Carbis beach, within walking distance of great places to eat.

I am very much hoping to return next year to celebrate my birthday as a family, absolutely loved Shamal

Fantastic property.

Lacked information regarding recycling / bins/ etc. Front entrance porch had sand all in shoe rack upon arrival. Need to cut trees opposite ASAP as this majorly effects sea view. Would have been 5 * if these things were met.

We found two good places to eat - The Alba - St. Ives and the Sea Food Cafe - St. Ives ( where they were particularly helpful with the child buggy). Lovely holiday relaxing, beautiful accommodation, would recommend place.

Having a lovely time with some good quality waves! Went into town and had a cracking sausage roll and 9/10 for the pasty! Hoping to go back into the sea today, fingers crossed for me I don’t catch hypothermia!

High standard accommodation with a beautiful view.

"The view gets you as soon as you turn into the road and improves as you climb the stairs. The house is impressive looking, inside and out, and extremely well equipped. The furniture and beds are comfortable; the bathrooms extremely clean and high spec. The kitchen is spacious and well fitted out. The house is close enough to the beach and local amenities without feeling too urban. Helped by unexpectedly kind weather, this was a most enjoyable stay."<br/>Michael Kirk

"First class accommodation which met our requirements fully. Plenty of space and all facilities were excellent which is not always the case with self-catering. Carbis Bay is a great location with plenty to do and see locally. Nice touch to be met by our housekeeper on arrival. "<br/>John
