  • "Beautiful property."

Stayed with family of 12 for 2 weeks from 24th August. Will definitely return. Many thanks to Jenny and Pippa for their support and hospitality.

Ideal for our 3 generation families with riverside access for paddle boarding & kayaking or quiet countryside walks.

  • "Carne Mill is an amazing place to stay."

There were 10 in our party and the layout worked brilliantly for us. Granny and grandad had the flat so that was perfect for them, their own quiet space. The grounds are gorgeous and being next to a creek. We definitely made use of the in coming tides with paddle boards and kayaks! We didn't have dogs with us, but one of our party has a dog allergy so they did appriciate the dog policy of keeping them in the kitchen during the stay. Pippa is very helpful and understanding and we thank her for letting other families enjoy her beautiful home. We would definitely recommend Carne Mill for a quiet, beautiful and tranquil holiday.

Spacious, clean, and well equipped. We were three families staying together and had everything we could possibly need. Pippa, the host, was wonderful; she went the extra mile to ensure we had a lovely stay.

Property is extensive - plenty of space and well fitted bathrooms. The kitchen has just about everything you could need. Loved every moment and many thanks to Pippa for her kindness.

  • "Although listed as a ‘dog friendly’ cottage, it is more ‘dog tolerant’, no secure fencing, and reminders in the rental and by the owner ( when paying the GHB) of the dog burden."

We were particularly unhappy about paying £500 to the owner for GHB, without a contract or conditions of return, or an inventory of previous marks and damage, following conversations with the owner, we’re told that she would have withheld money in the past when Sykes had not, particularly for dog owners, this put us on tender hooks all week. The property is okay, nice location, however misses some nice touches, seating on the balcony, liquid soap, etc. The property is expensive and and it’s best feature is it’s size, so probably is best for groups over 8 rather than smaller groups.

The set-up really couldn't be any better for a big group - plenty of space, enough bathrooms for everyone, warm & good hot water, huge kitchen with everything you need to cook large group meals. The owner is also lovely & very pleasant to deal with. We look forward to returning!

If you're looking for a well presented large property in a quiet tranquil setting, you will be hard pressed to find anything better. Everything is extremely high quality, you can tell the property was refurbished to a great standard with no expense spared. We look forward to our next holiday there.

  • "Lovely location, Carne Mill was very well equipped & comfortable accommodation."

However, although advertised as dog-friendly, we feel the description should state that the garden is not dog-secure. There were a few irritating issues which did mar our holiday experience a little which we have reported to the owner of the property.

Tranquil setting and having a nice pub nearby was a bonus. Check-in and check out times were later and earlier than expected but additional Covid-related precautions were required. Would recommend this property and visit again.

  • "We had a wonderful week in Carne Mill ."

The house is fabulous in a beautiful setting right by the estuary which is very peaceful. The kitchen is very well equipped and the garden a lovely place to relax in . The surrounding area is unspoilt and off the main thoroughfare affording some beautiful and varied walks. We hired kayaks and paddle boards from St Anthony which is a short walk from the house . Pippa , the owner was very helpful and easy to contact if there were any queries. All in all a great holiday for all the family.

It is a very comfortable and roomy home with excellent facilities- just perfect for larger families or groups. The home is well kept and immaculately clean. We absolutely loved the garden - a great place for outside dining and plenty of space for children to play. There is even a woodland to explore and a picturesque walk to the local pub. Walk in the other direction and you will find the quaint village of St Anthony’s, where you can hire kayaks for a fun jaunt on the creek. We would highly recommend holidaying here - just beautiful!

Perfect for large family holidays - we had a wonderful time. The owner Pippa worked hard to ensure safe infection control (COVID) which was very reassuring. • "Absolutely amazing."

We booked Carne Mill for a week in Feb as it was our 50th, and our Son's 25th, wedding anniversaries, our daughter & son-in-law also joined us. We travelled down through Storm Dennis which was interesting to say the least, especially crossing Dartmoor! 30mins before arriving we received a call from Pippa telling us that the storm had brought down the power lines to the house. Pippa was most concerned and was working frantically to get things sorted. We stopped off & bought some candles & when we arrived, at dusk, found the housekeeper, local electrician & the Electricity board all working hard to sort the problem. Not to be deterred we settled down to a romantic candle-lit evening of wine cheese & crackers and retired for the night. :-) The Electricity board worked through the night & power was restored by the following morning. What a delight Carne Mill turned out to be. The accommodation was spacious and of the highest standard. The kitchen had everything you could need & the bedrooms were a delight. Getting up in the morning & looking out over Gillan Creek was so restful and we did several walks straight from the house. The two swans in the creek would come over whenever we went outside and would happily take food from your hand. Right at the edge of Gillan creek, Carne Mill is perfectly placed for visiting the whole of the lizard. We enjoyed walking at the coast path from Kynance Cove, Church Cove and Helford & watching the breakers crashing at Mulion. We would thoroughly recommend this property.

  • "What a house!"

!! Carne mill is an absolutely beautiful house in a tranquil location. We got married the same week and carne mill housed our guests. We had caterers in for the meal and the house had every utensil you will ever need. Divided into 2 buildings, the flat has access to the rear of the house with 2 bedrooms, kitchen, livingroom and beautiful furniture. The main house is finished to a high spec, with amazing wooden staircases, and a impressive kitchen. The pictures on the website doesn't do this house any justice, needs to be experienced to appreciate its history and beauty.

About the location

MANACCAN

Helston 10 miles ; Helford 1.5 miles ; Porthallow 3 miles

The village of Manaccan on the South Helford is small and friendly, with an excellent restaurant, friendly village inn and a beautiful 12th century church. The South Helford is arguably one of the most beautiful and unspoilt parts of Cornwall. With meandering country roads, picturesque creeks, tidal inlets and pretty waterside villages, the area can be summed up in three words: tranquil, charming and timeless. The perfect spot for enjoying outdoor living, the South Helford’s sheltered coves were made for messing around on the water and strolling leisurely along the banks. Leave your ‘phone behind and embrace the simple pleasures - while away time paddling in the shallows, explore hidden coves with a hire boat from St Anthony, and stroll through woodland to enjoy a picnic on the beach.
