  • "This was our second visit to the Breakers apartment."

As per before a fantastic time had by all of us. From the views to the comfort of the furnishings everything was perfect. proximity to Fistral is brilliant especially for our Body board loving 11 year old. Great to also find the outside tap to rinse boards and wetties too, saves the plumbing in the apartments. See you next October

  • "Had an absolutely amazing stay this last week in this property."

The location and views are perfect and the apartment has everything you could ever need. We don't get phased by a couple of cup marks on a table or some flaky paint on the balcony as these 'issue's' really do not ruin a fabulous stay in a lovely place. The external areas of the apartment building, although a little tired, equally failed to ruin a great week in beautiful Cornwall. You dont spend a week sat in the stairwell right??? We loved it and have already booked to return for next year. Thank you

  • "We had a lovely holiday, as we always do in newquay."

I have been coming to newqusy for over 30 years, but this is the first time i have felt the need to do a review like this. The good points. The Appartment was lovely, clean and comfy, and the welcome cream tea was a lovely touch. The view over the bay and upto the headland was also amazing. Now for the niggly points, However just a couple of cosmetic bits could do with looking at, eg the veranda could do with a touch of paint and a clean up. And upholstery could do with a clean. As some staining on it. Now the bad points. Upon arrival there was a horrendous smell which i reported straight away, and patio door handle was loose. However it took almost a week for maintenance to come out. So in meantime we had to keep having all windows n patio door open to air it out and buy airfresheners to help difusse the smell. I believe it turned out to be a drain issue. I work for a well known holiday company and if any issues like this are reported its dealt with straight away. So for this fact thats why i rated it as i have. The fact the lift was out of service the whole 2 week was inconvenient to. The whole 2 week there we noticed there was no daily cleaner to clean the hallways, no fire alarm practice and no notices to state the fact of alarm tests. Also warning tape on the stairs and someone keeping their bike locked up on the 1st floor landing, meant having to be carefull as we walked past. No light in the hall by the keysafes and postboxes and anyone could walk into the building as tho internal door had a lock and key if you pulled the door both doors would open. We saw many of residents do this. Again, prior places i have stayed issues like this are dealt with straight away. There was also someone in the apartments nearby us who regularly smoked weed so because of the sea breeze we regularly smelt it. Overall, we had a lovely holiday, even though weather was allover the place, but you cant help the british weather. I just feel what we paid for the holiday was a little over the top concidering we usually hire another apartment nearby which is still a 3 bed but alot bigger, newer, cheaper, mid holiday bedding change, building cleaners, h&s tests and still sea views. A mid break change of bedding and towels would be an idea for anyone staying 2 weeks or more. As it stands, would i book again probably not. If building issues were addressed, maybe.

Thank you for taking the time to complete your feedback. We are glad you enjoyed the apartment and the amazing views. The painting of the balcony/ veranda is carried out by the Management Company and is due to done either this year or next year. We have arranged for the upholstery in the apartment to be cleaned. We were sorry to hear of the smell on your arrival, we arranged for someone to attend the apartment and the issue was resolved within a few days. We are sorry that the issue could not be rectified sooner than this. The lift is not out of service, it is the emergency phone within the lift which is currently out of action. An email was sent to you a few days prior to your stay advising you of this, the lift can still be used but you need to make sure that your mobile phone works when inside the lift, in case you should need to call the emergency number provided for the lift company. The Management Company have confirmed that the cleaner of the communal areas, tests the alarm on a weekly basis and every six weeks an independent fire company come to check the fire alarm system. Not all of the apartments are holiday lets, some are residential and so a complaint has been raised with the Management Company regarding the bike left on the first floor landing. The light bulb had gone in the hall where the key safes etc are located and this will be replaced. A notice has been sent to all residents in the apartment block advising them that the door must be kept locked at all times. We are glad that you had an enjoyable holiday and do hope that you might consider returning sometime in the future. Property Owner

  • "The properties location is excellent, a 5 minute walk to fisteral beach one way and a 5 minute walk to the shops and restaurants the other, can't beat it really The views from the apartment are just breathtaking and the big selling point for us but unfortunately everything else just fell short on expectations especially for the price for a weeks stay."

Areas of the communal areas ie enterance doors, stairs, lift and paint work are either tired or damaged. We didn't need to use the front door key to the building (not apartment) as the bolt locks had been snapped out of one of the double doors meaning even the doors were locked you could just pull them open. Several edging trims on the stairs had been ripped off presumably by surf boards etc that had been dragged up the stairs and were in storage in the hall ways. The lift itself did work but the emergency alarm was not in use if it broke down so therefore had do not use stickers on. We did clarify with the owner before arrival as my partner is a wheelchair user and needed to use the lift. Just needed to make sure we had a phone with signal to make with reception when in the lift or another member of are party to use the stairs when my partner was in the lift in case of a breakdown emergency. Thankfully we got through the holiday with no problems. On to the apartment. Again just tired in areas and dirty in others. Peeling paint around windows, door lock mechanism on patio doors rusted up making it difficult to lock and unlock door, damaged lampshades, slats on single beds, laminate flooring, dining table covered in ring stains and marks, dirt and stains on and down the side of sofa and the mattress protector on the bed in the main bedroom was badly stained amongst other things Comparing this apartment with others I've stayed in over the years I'm slightly disappointed. I've marked as a 3 star and that's because of location and the amazing views. Unfortunately I can't see us returning in the future. Its a shame really with a bit of love and TLC in areas it could really be an amazing holiday. We wish the owner all the best for the future and thank them for are stay. To some I may be being picky but for us it's what makes a holiday and we want to be honest.

Lots of bars, restaurants and shops on your doorstep. The apartment has everything you’d need for a family beach holiday. Also need to mention the views from the balcony which were amazing and we enjoyed seal-spotting with our binoculars from the mezzanine snug (note that the telescope in the photos wasn’t in use - luckily we took our own bins). Recommend the sea shanty’s at the Fistral beach bar!!

  • "We all loved the property, it's location was perfect offering the most amazing views, stunning sunsets, it was everything we needed."

The only downside was the outdoor furniture, I rang Sykes upon our arrival as the furniture on the balcony was broken. I waited almost 20 mimutes to actually talk to someone on the phone. I emailed Sykes with photo's of the broken furniture. Both of these lines of communication stated that either someone from Sykes or the owner would call me back, this was on Saturday 26th May when we arrived, it is now 2nd June and we left the property yesterday, still no contact from either. This is why I only scored Sykes as 7 for recommendation to others, as I feel you aren't great at responding to issues raised. I haven't booked with you previously so I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt as it maybe be a one off for you. The main reason I chose Breakers was the balcony and seating. Unfortunately the only way I could sit on the balcony was to use 2 of my own camping chairs. It would be good to discuss this with the owner. Kind regards Debbie Pollard

  • "Great apartment and location second to none."

The apartment was clean and tidy but was disappointed that the furniture on the balcony was in disrepair and no cushions to put on the furniture that was not damaged. It does state the cushions under the sofa but none to be found. The windows on the front of the property are in need of a good clean with bird muck on the windows at both levels. I have used this apartment before and will use again but would want the knowledge the balcony area has been sorted.

The only reason I would say 99.9 out of 100 is because I would love to come back with my dog so will have to look elsewhere when we do. The owners of this apartment have not cut corners, even the reed diffusers are from Marks and Spencers. It is lovely to see they are supporting Cornwall with their pictures and tableware. • "The apartment itself was brilliant and in a perfect location."

It had everything you needed for a great stay and the views were amazing. The location was spot on for the beaches, restaurants and for going into town. There was plenty of crockery and the appliances we used were great and loved the SMEG toaster & kettle (we didn't use the washer/dryer). Fantastic TV to watch your favorite programs - we have absolutely no complaints about that at all. We did have problems over the heating and had no heat for over 3 days, we hadn't found the handbook created by the owner as it was under the coffee table and we'd put items on top of them so didn't see them until Wednesday evening of our stay - it needs to be placed in a prominent position or at least with the lever arch folder and leaflets on the small table under the stairs. The apartment had not had a thorough clean though which considering we couldn't enter until 6pm and had to be out for 9.30am was pretty bad. We found numerous long hairs in the main bathroom, plastic tags from clothing or similar in the main bedroom and the kitchen, table mats not cleaned and the dining table was not clean especially when opened, even had crumbs in it. Found all sorts under the coffee table when we moved it to hoover and in crumbs etc between the sofa cushions which was not nice. Also, found a broken finger nail on the kitchen unit between utility pot and next pot over. Description for the single beds I think needs to state they are for children. We had an adult sleeping in one of them and the mattress was half the thickness of those on the double beds, also the slats came out very easily! The twin room only had drawers, no wardrobe. The 2nd double bedroom had a wardrobe and no drawers, so obviously you need to share between the two - not great if an adult is in the twin room. However, that did not stop us from having a great holiday, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and it was the perfect location with fantastic views. Would recommend the apartment to others, they just need to improve the cleaning to a consistent level and maybe change the description slightly. I'm sure it is probably more families staying here rather than 3 adults using a bedroom each.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback, we take all comments seriously and are sorry to hear this. Had you contacted us during your stay we would have sent our housekeeper to rectify these issues immediately. Please be assured that we will be following this up Property Owner

The view from the balcony did not disappoint and the sunsets were stunning. We were only a few minutes walk from Fistral Beach and all its facilities plus a short walk from Newquay harbour and town centre which was so handy. The apartment had all modern home comforts and space for us all to eat together and chill. The Delonghi coffee machine was a particularly enjoyable indulgence. It was a lovely touch to offer the scones and clotted cream on arrival although would have been nice to have one each as there were not enough for the whole family. A little soap in the bathrooms just to tide guests over until the first shop is done might also be a nice touch. Could not fault our stay though. We did not want to leave and will definitely book again soon.

  • "Absolutely fantastic apartment overlooking the sea, a large premises that would comfortably accommodate 2 small families."

We found the apartment immaculately clean and the beds of good quality. We also enjoyed the mezzanine snug room for its outlook over the headland. Upon arrival (after dark), we experienced a little difficulty accessing the building on account of the main entrance being unlit. We found ourselves using our mobile phones to light the area so that we could identify the correct key box, prior to struggling with the box access on account of the outer panel being very tight. The washer/dryer is a combined machine which whilst new, was not very good at washing or drying and, left the clothes smelling and only dry after a three and a half hour cycle. In truth we enjoyed a great week in this apartment and I would be happy to return in the summer however, when winter breaks throw the worst of a British winter at you, there is a real benefit of higher spec white goods and I believe this is something that the vendor might want to consider?
