Guinevere

Guinevere will go down as one of our favourite stays in Cornwall, and we are annual visitors.

We have stayed in multiple Sykes properties with our pet, and all have been fabulous, but Guinevere took it to the next level. Check-in was a breeze with Holly up at the main hotel in its spectacular location. This also gave us an opportunity to see where the spa and swimming pool was. The spa general facilities are available to all hotel guests during your hotel or apartment stay and are beautifully done. We used the spa facilities several times and the pool is available for kids between 3-6pm (and in the morning during summer holidays) and we loved that option. The location of Guinevere is nothing short of spectacular! The two front bedrooms have amazing views of Mullion Cove harbour (all bedrooms have en-suite access!) and the mainly enclosed balcony was a pleasure to relax on (and dry wet sports gear on the thoughtfully provided drying horses!). The parking for Guinevere was optimal as it’s to the right side of the building, with the other 3 apartments parking along the front of the apartment. Right beside the Guinevere parking was an outdoor shower that was warm (amazing to rinse off after Watersports!) and also a short hose to rinse off wetsuits and gear. This is a huge plus when you spend most of your holiday in the sea! The property itself is beautiful and well maintained by the Mullion Cove Hotel, so if there were any issues (we had none as we had everything we needed as it’s all very thoughtfully laid out) they are there to help. We had everything we expected and more, as it was well stocked (even have some basics!) and all you have to bring is the food. We also arrived to a beautifully presented cream tea, which was a wonderful surprise! The harbour was amazing and we enjoyed regular safe swims (being cognizant that it is a working harbour and not to get in the way of the fishing boats and following National Trust rules). We also quickly found the cave in the harbour that is an exciting clambering adventure brings you out at the secluded beach when the tide is middle to low. We also took advantage of the Lizard Adventures located in Mullion Cove harbour just down from Guinevere to try Coasteering and Stand-up Paddle boarding. This just added to the whole experience and made us enjoy our stay even more. Only slight issues were the Nespresso coffee maker was missing a knob on the milk part and wasn’t great in general (but we brought our own so not an issue) and the flooring in the main living area has seen better days, as the laminate is lifting in a couple of areas and scratched badly near the sofa, but neither had any negative impact on our stay, just points for the hotel to consider. I also mentioned to the hotel in their survey that the bathroom with the bath the extractor fan stopped working mid-stay and there was a bulb in the back bedroom bathroom (closest to the door) that started flickering and needs checked and probably changed. Again, these were tiny issues in an otherwise flawless stay! Do yourself a favour and book Guinevere today! As even though part of me wants to keep Guinevere a secret, it really is too great a place not to share!
