The aptly named Coast has a spacious open plan living area which maximises its idyllic cliffside setting, through large floor to ceiling windows and double sliding doors, which lead out to a seaward facing terrace, so whether you’re cooking, dining or relaxing you can do it with views of the ocean, inside light interiors, flooded in natural light and adorning local art work mirroring the outside beauty, provide a welcoming holiday vibe throughout, three and two seater sofas offer plentiful seating, cosy up and enjoy the entertainment package on the television ,including Freeview, or music on the Sony sound system, alternatively open the sliding doors, breathe in the fresh sea air or step outside to enjoy your large private decked area with stunning harbour, sea and beach views.
The kitchen and dining area are within the open plan living space, a black granite dining table with six matching white leather chairs are perfectly situated to enjoy the sea views through the living room windows, alternatively the terrace offers an alfresco option overlooking the beach, the contemporary kitchen, with soft close units, black granite worktops and splash backs, is well-appointed with everything you need for a week’s stay, a utility cupboard in the hallway houses a washer/dryer.
Choose from two comfortable bedrooms, the master en-suite room with double ended bath and shower-over, has a king sized bed perfectly positioned to view St Ives Bay from the comfort of your bed, through floor to ceiling double doors, leading to a private seaward facing decking area, enjoy breakfast in the sun watching the ocean, the second twin room is conveniently located next to the family bathroom at the rear, each room is well presented with sumptuously dressed beds in Egyptian cotton and offer ample storage space.
The family bathroom offers a wonderful space to escape, located next to bedroom two, sink into the double ended bath with shower over, and enjoy a well-earned relaxing soak after a busy day exploring.
Your private seaward facing terrace, accessed from the lounge and master bedroom, has uninterrupted views of one of Cornwall’s most beautiful bays, a wonderful place to relax into Cornwall’s slower pace of life, a large contemporary table, matching bench and armchairs are perfectly positioned to take in this wonderful vista, from St Ives harbour to Godrevy lighthouse and Porthminster beach below.
A plethora of café s and restaurants makes dining out a pleasure in St Ives, there is even a Michelin Plate venue, Porthminster Beach Café, set idyllically on the beach below, this along with many others around the town has foodies licking their lips with delicious dishes featuring local produce from the farm to the fork, St Ives pretty arc shaped harbour leads off to cobbled streets, dotted with boutiques and galleries showcasing local art, the Tate St Ives and the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden, is one of the towns largest galleries, filled with work from famous artists inspired by St Ives unique beauty.
For some coastal beauty, filled with wild flora and fauna, migrating and native birds, and wonderful sea life, venture out across the nearby South West Coast Path, it heads towards Zenor or Hayle, like the scenic railway, which runs alongside the beaches with sea views all the way, on your journey you’ll come across a secluded bay with azure waters lapping golden shores, you’ve reached Carbis Bay.

This spacious property is in a brilliant location, with a nice balcony overlooking the bay.
A covered car parking space is a real plus in St Ives, and it was easy to access. The washer dryer was useful too. The property looks very stylish, and we enjoyed our stay, though the place would benefit from a bit of care and attention. Broken lights in the main bedroom, a mattress and sofa that had clearly seen better days, and comically creaky laminate flooring, were minor niggles in an otherwise enjoyable holiday.
Overall I really liked this property and would highly recommend if only sleeping in the master bedroom.
The location and parking were important to us and we had a view of the beach and Godrevy lighthouse. The kitchen was well equipped, although did not have a chopping board. Having 2 bathrooms was great too, but it might be difficult if anyone has mobility issues as no grab rails to climb in or out the bath with shower area. Also it was good to have an outdoor area and a washing machine and dishwasher. The main negatives were all regarding the twin room. This was cramped with 2 single beds, 1 wardrobe with drawers, one wide desk and chair and a large set of drawers and 2 bedside table with drawers. There was no room to move around and it was not easy to get to the window. The room had black mould on the walls (due to lack of ventilation) and once reported the local team came out the same day and used the appropriate treatment. I moved out of the room to sleep on the sofa, which was more comfortable than the bed. And as I was not waking up with a cough and sinus issues slept a lot better. Not everyone is affected by mould, but I think the room needs decluttering and maybe a dehumidifier? It should be fine for now, but the mould will inevitably return if ventilation etc is not improved.
I was prepared for the worst ahead of our visit to Coast and ended up very pleasantly surprised (and relieved) by the property and overall experience.
I don't normally write reviews, but given the many negative experiences at this property, I wanted to share my point of view. We booked earlier in the year, and subsequent reviews made me anxious about our stay, particularly about the condition of the double bed's mattress. After several attempts to reach Sykes, I eventually received a reply that they would look into this with the owner. A week later, they confirmed that a new mattress had been bought, which I was very pleased to hear. Alongside the mattress issue, several other points were raised by reviewers, and I wanted to offer my opinion on them. Parking The underground car park is just across from the apartment block's entrance, and it is large. Getting in and out can be tricky with a big car, but we found we barely left, given the proximity to the beach and town. Unpacking You'll need to unload the car in the car park and walk everything over the road to the block; however, you can't pull up outside (as it's all double yellows). First Impressions My overriding initial impression of the property was how spacious it was, both in the rooms and the corridors, and how clean and tidy it was - which I know is a different experience to some of the reviewers here. I don't know whether the cleaners have been changed, but we found it spotless, and everything was in very good repair. Master Bedroom The mattress had indeed been replaced with a good-quality, sturdy one with a topper. We both slept very well across the week we spent at Coast. I think there was a note about the TV not working, but we didn't use either of them in the bedrooms. Kids Bedroom Everything was as it should be and both beds seemed decent. This and the kids' bathroom face out to ground level, but it's worth noting that the only guests with access to this part of the building are in the other three ground floor apartments, so there's minimal footfall outside. We kept both sets of windows shut overnight for security, however, as the apartment is accessible from the street via a side gate (which also gives you easy access to the steps to the train station and beach). Kids Bathroom This is massive and well set out. Some reviewers mentioned the window not closing, which we initially observed. However, after a bit of fiddling and pressure, we got it closed, and it functioned fine for the rest of the week. Bathrooms A general point on both bathrooms to note was that the water pressure and temperature control on both showers is great. Kitchen This has plenty of space, very clean modern appliances and a really good layout. There were plenty of plates and bowls (as noted earlier) along with everything else you'd expect. Lounge Like the mattress, I was expecting the worst with the sofas, but they were both fine. Yes, they're a little old, but they were both clean, had plenty of life in the cushions and were a good size. The larger sofa bed one sometimes needed the sofa bed part pushing back in, but apart from that they were good. Internet As mentioned in other reviews, it's not amazing - I got 11mb up and 0.5mb down - but it's enough to check email from. Outside Space Yes, the furniture isn't the newest, but it's perfectly usable, the cushions are clean, and you have an amazing view of the beach. Bonus Stuff There's a windbreak, buckets and spades, tennis and badminton racquets, games and books there, which I don't remember seeing mentioned, which meant we didn't need to buy some stuff. In Summary Having gone into this holiday fearing the worst, we ended up with it being one of the best we've had and would definitely stay here again.
