  • "Very nice accommodation and handy for walking into town (and the station)."

Pretty good and secure parking for the car, but only one slot; this may have been a problem if our (adult) children had joined us from a different part of the country. We had a lovely seek in St. Ives; but to be fair, we had unusually good weather for the time of year (late September).

  • "We really enjoyed our stay."

I really liked the little extras, a beach bag and beach board; which my daughter loved using! The only thing I think could be improved is the outside area was dirty and could do with jet washing. But that was a very small issue on a very lovely holiday for us.

Thank you for your lovely feedback. We are thrilled to hear that you loved the property and your stay! Thank you for your comment which have been passed on to look into, and we hope to welcome you back in the future. Kinds Regards, The Carbis Bay Holidays Team Property Owner

  • "Very modern and clean property."

Positioned close to railway and st Ives town. Main bedroom superb with on suite shower room. The lounge and kitchen area was well equipped with everything we needed. My mother in law has difficulty with her mobility and uses a wheelchair. She comfortably manoeuvred around the property which delighted her. The additional outdoor area and parking space was a very welcome extra. We had a lovely stay. We felt it was a little on the expensive side but you get what you pay for. We couldn’t fault the accommodation. We were welcomed with a very thoughtful welcome gift of Prosecco, Cornish apple juice(which was gorgeous) biscuits, milk, tea and coffee. They even left a packet of dog biscuits. Unfortunately we lost our dog before we could take her away with us, but we really appreciated the thought. The whole area was very dog friendly for those wanting to take their dogs on holiday. Most shops and pubs allowed dogs. I would definitely recommend this accommodation.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such lovely feedback after your stay at The Sanctuary. We are so pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay and would recommend the property. • "Having stayed in The Sanctuary many times, we don't feel that this property warrants the weekly rate anymore - The owners have not maintained this property to the high standard as promised on the property website description and photos (photos obviously taken when the property was refurbished in 2016) - The carpets in the bedrooms look stained and grubby and in need of replacement."

The lounge curtain is stained and the sofa also looks grubby - We understand that this is a 'dog-friendly' property but we have stayed in other 'dog-friendly' properties in St Ives which are excellent! (No dis-respect to the house-keeper who obviously does her best) - Money needs to be invested in this property by the owners to maintain the high standard it once had - Sadly, due to the gradual deterioration in standards we will not be staying in The Sanctuary again.

Shower stall in en-suite had poor drainage of water Carpets in bedrooms look stained and grubby, in need of re-placement Radiator in main bedroom rusty, thus appearing dirty Radiators keep coming on, even though thermostat was off ( suggesting diverter valve is ‘passing’ which will be costing owners money) Overhead shower in bathroom has no direction control and water sprays onto the floor Rug no longer in living room so decor doesn’t feel as cosy Sky TV required a PIN number even for basic channels, which we were therefore unable to watch We have been staying at The Sanctuary for a few years now and feel that it needs to be up-dated to maintain the ‘luxurious’ 5 star standard it once had

We are saddened to hear you were unhappy with a few things and thank you for bringing these to our attention. We can assure you that we will look into the points raised closely and do what we can to resolve any issues as soon as possible. These restrictions are on a sliding scale throughout the day with all programs able to be viewed after the 9.00 pm watershed. • "A lovely apartment giving good access to the great things you can do in and around St Ives."

Well equipped and a good size for friends sharing. It is also completely secure for a small dog which is really helpful! The parking is very convenient and a real bonus. My only quibble would be that the description mentions the views. While the apartment complex does have a good view over the sea, it’s not really visible from the apartment or the terrace area unless you are very tall and occasionally it is blocked entirely by parked cars. Not an issue as such but the wording of the description might need updating to make this clearer that the view is from the complex not the apartment itself. We spent a very happy week here and given the proximity of the town centre and gorgeous beaches I would definitely book a second visit!

Dear Holly, thank you for taking the time to leave feedback and comments following your stay at The Sanctuary and we are very pleased to hear you had a wonderful stay. We are sorry that you have found the website description not clear enough. It appears the mention of the views is part of the development description rather than of the individual apartment. Some of the apartments do have better views of the beach than others. We are very happy that you found the property so conveniently located to the beach and the town. We are looking forward to welcome you back. Kind regards, The Carbis Bay Holiday Team. Property Owner

As there are a number of flats now accepting dogs we may be forced to look elsewhere in future. We appreciate you have to make some profit and hope you may reconsider the pricing going forward.

Dear Mr Bailey, thank you for taking the time to leave Feedback following your stay at The Sanctuary. Any increase in pricing has been set due to the current demand for holidays and properties in St Ives and Carbis Bay but I can confirm the rates are constantly being monitored and reviewed. With regards to Pet Friendly properties, although some of our owners have decided to accept dogs, I can confirm we still have over 120 that do not accept pets, including at 8 Gallinas Point. We had an issue with the hot water in that after running a (shallow) bath for one child, the rest of us had no hot water for a good long period of time. Also the apartment was really warm despite turning the heating right down and radiators off. But it didn’t spoil our stay! The blind in the children’s room didn’t go up which was ok as they were able to sleep but was annoying that it couldn’t be raised during the day. The front door lock needs attention, the bottom lock doesn’t work at all and the top is stiff. Despite these things we had a wonderful week and the apartment was lovely! Thank you!

  • "We had a lovely October stay at the Sanctuary, so thank you."

This holiday was changed twice due to covid so this was third time lucky! Some feedback... The ensuite shower plug was completely blocked on arrival, which was sorted that same day, which was excellent. The main door handle/lock needs some attention, and the lower lock doesn't work at all. In fact, on arrival the door was completely unlocked. The batteries in the remote control were almost dead. We just scraped through but the next guests will struggle. The dining table was very small for 4 people. Perhaps if the sofa was smaller, or took up less space you could fit in a slightly larger dining table. Finally, we aren't dog owners, but there was a very distinct smell of dog when we arrived. We managed to air it, and removed the dog bed from the sitting area/along with some air freshener which helped. These are only small points. We had a lovely stay at the Sanctuary.

Dear Mrs Willott, We appreciate you taking the time to submit your feedback. Please be assured we will pass your feedback on to the housekeeper and we apologise for the points you identified. With our batteries now recharged we look forward to returning either this autumn or spring next year God willing. Harry our pet Golden is now getting on a bit being nearly 14 but we could see his delight when we arrived. He just wants to head down to our favourite coffee stop at the Portminster Beach Café. Sad to leave but we need to regain our self-control after tasting too many delights at the various local cafés and restaurants. One of the most reasonable holiday lets in St Ives with a great position. Even a punctured tyre during the journey to St Ives didn't dampen our enjoyment. Highly recommended."

  • ""We were very impressed with the standard of The Sanctuary."

It was very clean and well equipped with good quality furnishings. We were met on our arrival by friendly staff and there was a lot of information in the apartment regarding St. Ives and the surrounding area. We were really pleased to have the small decking area to sit in especially as we had our dog Delta with us. We found everyone in the area to be very friendly and we ate out at several restaurants. The Porthminster Beach Café was a favourite and we had a very special anniversary meal there. Luckily we picked a great week for weather so were able to sit outside with Delta. We also loved the outside area at The Loft and were given a good welcome (and a chew for Delta) at Onshore. One night we enjoyed fish and chips from Becks. We also travelled to a favourite haunt of ours at Cadgwith and Coverack. Delta loved her walks on the beach before 8am and we also walked a couple of times to Carbis Bay and had sandwiches and a glass of wine at The Carbis Bay Hotel (not cheap but a lovely location). I think Delta's favourite beach was at Lelant after we have driven there and parked at the church. She could not wait to go for a swim and have a roll in the sand!It was really great to find such a lovely apartment where we could also take our dog and we thoroughly enjoyed our week in St. Ives."
