  • "The location was fantastic, close to a lot of beautifull places to visit."

House was spacious with good kitchen and bathrooms. The thing our children missed most was Wifi! Tourist tips we received from owner were very helpfull. Garden was nice, chairs not the most comfortable. House overall could do with a bit more coziness (rugs, tables etc)

  • "1. We had two, not full, toilet rolls."

There might have been 6 people staying two weeks. Not very welcoming. 2. The carbon monoxide detector went off late one night. We thought it was the smoke detector making the noise and it took us quite a time to locate the problem. We contacted the owner who did not get our calls as it was late and she had gone to bed. Thankfully it was just a battery problems and we removed the batteries and replaced with new one next day. After speaking to the owner we were assured the boiler had been serviced in August but the sticker on the boiler said it had not been done. I realise this is a 'one off' problem but at the time, it was worrying. 3. Apart from the above, we had a good holiday in a lovely holiday home.

  • "This is are second visit, we had a lovely stay, such a quiet peaceful setting."

The fact that there is parking is a real bonus, a few things are needed to improve the overall stay, the window in the upstairs bathroom needs a blind as it has plain glass in. House keeping needs to step up a bit, alot of cobwebs and sand/dirt on floor edges to be honest the whole of downstairs would benefit from redecoration. Having said that we would not hesitate to book again.

  • "What an amazing holiday!"

!!, the owner rang a few days before to give us the key safe code, she was lovely and gave us so much information on places to visit, food places ect, we found this very usual. The property is so spacious and was extremely clean. It had everything that we needed. I can totally recommend the pub and chip shop at the end of the road and the lovely beach which is 5 minutes drive away, Praa Sands. You can park right next to the beach and has everything you need. We loved it that much that we will be booking again for next year. Thank you!!!

  • "The best thing about the property is the location, it’s ideal and close to many of the gorgeous places Cornwall has to offer."

It’s a large property at the end of a cul de sac, the garden goes around the house and the bit accessed from the lounge is kept nice and tidy with trees and flowering shrubs, but the rest is a bit unkempt. There were only two chairs in the garden and no table as in the photographs so if you’re a family and want to sit outside in the evening you can’t. When we entered the house we noticed an awful smell, this was from the boiler in the kitchen ( there’s a large oil tank outside) we had to keep the window open and door closed while we there as it was horrible, I didn’t report to the landlord as I had spoken to them about not being able to get the keys as the safe was jammed and they said the boiler had been serviced that day! I like to walk around barefoot and having done so for a couple of hours my feet were black from the hard flooring, we purchased some floor cleaner and found the mop and bucket ( mop wax bone dry do hadn’t been used in a while ) also had to clean the bath when I was aching from a long walk one evening as it was dirty/dusty, also the bathroom has a large clear glass window with no blind so careful if you wish to retain your modesty. Overall I was a little disappointed in the cleanliness of the property and the general ‘tiredness’ of everything if the landlord employs a cleaner I suggest they have a spot check on occasion. This place could be lovely with a little update. Although we loved the location I wouldn’t stay here again I couldn’t stand the smell from the boiler let alone having to clean before I start my holiday, needless to say we left a day early.

I have taken your advise and recently visited the property. The cleaning company provide their own cleaning products and equipment so would not use the mop provided at the house. The garden table and chairs are moved in to the garage when the weather is windy or wet so perhaps the previous guests had not used them. Thank you for your feedback Property Owner

  • "This is the 4th cottage we have booked through Sykes, however this is one is the most disappointing."

The location is a perfect base for Cornwall. We found the house to be a little tired and unclean in places needs a little maintenance. We booked this house because it had to bathrooms and we were 4 adults sharing , however the upstairs bathroom has a clear glass window and no blind so we didn't use it. The garden room had not been cleaned and was full of dead flies and some of the saucepans in the kitchen were rusty and the splash back had dead spiders behind glass. We were also told we would receive a cream tea on arrival , this was not a cream tea it was a pint of milk and cornish biscuits.

Thank you for your feedback, i'm sorry to hear you didnt enjoy your stay at the property. If the issues regarding cleanliness were raised to our attention during your stay, we would of rectified them for you Property Owner

Clarkson) the owner was very informative on the phone. She was very helpful in telling us places to eat and visit. And she seemed very easy to talk to. We did visit the end of September so no doubt the house has had a lot of visitors so hopefully will get a little spuce up with some paint. But this would definitely not put us off stopping there again.

  • "Very comfortable house, peacefully located and in a great situation to explore the area."

However, there were a few 'niggles'. The cottage was not as clean as had been expected. Mirrors and windows were smeary and dirty and upstairs definitely needed redecorating all round, very tired. There are things that need to be looked at for a more satisfactory stay: you cannot read by any of the bedside lights, they are all far too dim; the pillows need upgrading; at least one, if not two, of the bedrooms could benefit from somewhere to be able to sit and do makeup/hair as there is not enough room or light in either bathroom; if, like this party, you have someone who is not steady on their feet, there should be a shower safety mat, we had to buy one. As said, just 'niggles'. The owners had furnished us with lots of interesting information on places to go in the area which was most helpful. However, it would be nice to have some instructions in the cottage on things like how the heating/hot water works, rules for recycling (very different from our home area) etc.

  • "Nice property in a good location."

Unfortunately, a window had been left open before our arrival and it had been raining, had to contact owner and someone came out to change bedding as it had got a little damp! Owner did respond promptly. There was a lot of dust on skirting boards behind beds and huge cobwebs above curtain pole in bedroom. One of the kitchen cupboards was thick with dust. A couple of chipped mugs and cracked glass in cupboard could do with replacing. There is no blind in the upstairs bathroom which needs to be addressed. With the current situation with Covid-19, the cleanliness of the property should have been much better, it was as though only the most visable parts had been cleaned.
