  • "Property is fantastic and very well equipped."

Even a Bluetooth speaker for music in the garden. Nikki’s efforts on the property are very evident and she has made every possible effort to create an amazing place to stay.

  • "Great cottage, very well equipped and very comfortable."

Only negatives were being on the flight path from Lands End airport with aircraft departing at 8:20 and 8:25 every morning flying at only a few 100 feet over the house. Quite near a road which got quite busy at times.

  • "Our stay at the old forge was absolutely amazing and exceeded our expectations on every aspect."

The property was spotless, the facilities are amazing (especially the hot tub) and the breakfast pack in the fridge was a great touch. We were slightly concerned reading the two negative reviews but after visiting I can clarify - yes, there is a property close by but it caused us no issues whatsoever. The second property has its own path that runs above the back garden so no one walks past your windows or dining room. Also - the property is set well back from the road and whilst there are houses on the other side we did not feel ‘overlooked’ at any point. The road that runs past is fairly quiet and also caused us no issues. Would definitely recommend and would love to return :)

  • "Probably the best holiday home we’ve stayed in!"

Fantastic location, lovely garden and hot tub. Masses of parking and the house had literally everything you will need. Everything was there from tea bags, sugar, coffee, dishwasher tablets, toilet rolls, bin liners etc etc. Lovely surprise left for us in the fridge, a full fry up package including sausages, bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes, white pudding and eggs. Furniture and beds very comfortable and bathrooms and showers etc were lovely. Very clean inside and out. Location is perfect. We walked from the house to Lands End along the coastal path which was spectacular (about 6 miles). Minack theatre is a must see and is just 15 mins away. For golf enthusiasts, Mullion golf course down by the Lizard is superb. There is so much to do in the area. We would highly recommend this holiday home, it was a fabulous relaxing week and we’ll definitely be back. Well done to the owners who have obviously spent lots of time and love in creating this lovely home

  • "Probably our best cottage choice ever."

Really well appointed and presented accommodation. Mobile reception is not great - but there's not a lot that the owners can do about that (rural Cornwall and in a valley). Some great short walks to the coast and St Just from the cottage gate (short distance on the road to reach the footpaths). A very welcoming base to explore a new (to us) part of the UK.

It was immaculately clean, really comfortable, had everything you needed. It is spacious, well maintained and feels luxurious. Ideally located to visit many attractions yet set in a quiet rural location. The welcome pack was unexpected and delicious. The hot tub was an additional bonus. The electric charging points for the car made our holiday hassle free. We didn’t want to leave. Thank you !

  • "We’re not ones to complain (you can’t give anything less than a 1 star review) but its only fair anyone booking should be aware."

The pictures of the property make it appear isolated, and the ‘isolated’ search filter guides you to it. The main road of the village is running straight past, and there is very little privacy. You can’t see it in the pictures but there is a secondary property within 5 foot, its purposely cropped out of the images. Occupiers of that property are constantly walking past the dining room windows looking straight in to and from the shared driveway. There’s also 4/5 properties over road that have a clear view around the property. This is more of a gold fish bowl than a retreat. We complained and were brushed under the carpet multiple times and were refused any kind of refund, even though we didn’t stay in the property, after paying £1000 for 3 nights!!

I'm sorry that you felt that you were mislead by the advert on the website. Having thoroughly checked the information listed about our property there is no mention of the property being isolated or secluded and feel that if this was a priority a simple google map search may have been a benefit. Although the properties are close together they do not overlook each other. The complaint was noted and investigated by both the owners and the letting agents, both parties concluded that the property was as described and met all standards expected. The property was used overnight and before the property is let for guests it is fully cleaned and ready for occupation, although the property was only occupied for one night this did mean it required another full clean and linen change. The welcome pack that was provided was not able to be reused for the next guests due to perishable goods included (bread, sausages etc). We have successfully rented this property for 5 years and this is the only complaint of this type received. Property Owner

  • "The price and photos didn’t reflect the property."

Overlooked and noisy 60mph road next to the property, another property is also directly behind the cottage. We stayed for two weeks and the gardener, cleaner and owner used the property we’d paid £2500 for as a throughway for the Saturday changeover of the adjoining property. Leaving gates open for our dog to get out while they walked their own dog round our ‘private’ property. Not impressed at all.

I am extremely sorry that you felt that your privacy was invaded, I did knock on the door and received no answer, as there was no sign of anyone I assumed that you had gone out for the day. We went about business tidying, mowing the lawn and attending to the hot tub so that things were still in tip top condition and indeed would have used the side gate to enter next door but I honestly had no idea that anyone was in. This comment has taught me a huge lesson that I will not repeat and assume that guests are out. Also I am sorry that you felt that the photos didn't represent the property and although the properties are close together they do not overlook each other and are available to rent together should a large party wish to book them. There is a road next to the property but it is a B road with a maximum limit of 40mph and there is a large parking area and orchard that are between the property and the road so you do not step out straight on to it. • "We had a lovely stay at The Old Forge!"

I would definitely recommend this lovely property to friends and family. The house was in a good location, spotlessly clean, decorated to a high standard and really well equipped, everything was thought of. The hot tub was great and the breakfast welcome pack was very gratefully received. The only disappointing feature was the double bed that was zipped from 2 singe les as it was quite uncomfortable where the zip was down the middle. We couldn't fault anything else, we had a really lovely time!

A very well equipped and decorated cottage. Very comfortable in all respects. Excellent kitchen and equipment for those looking to cook in. The children loved the hot tub in the garden. The cottage is very well located for exploring the coastal paths and the old tin mines around St Just, and we found some wonderful sandy beaches - Porthchapel and Gwynver are the best, we think, but Sennen Cove is great too if you are looking for something more accessible. St Just has a good range of local shops - a small Co Op, a good good butcher and green grocer, and a terrific Moomaid ice cream parlour in the main square - or there is a huge Sainbury's off the A30 in Penzance. Nikki, the owner, dropped round a couple of times and was friendly and helpful. Definitely a five star cottage and location for anyone looking to explore the far west of Cornwall.

The kitchen is extremely well equipped we even had complimentary breakfast supplies which were locally sourced. The lounge had a log burner which my husband loved there was plenty of wood supplied. The bedrooms and bathrooms were perfect as well we felt spoilt for the whole of our stay. The hot tub was fantastic we were really excited to have this. Nikki visited us several times to make sure the hot tub was running correctly. There was plenty of parking and a fully enclosed garden which was ideal for our dog and children. A brand new conversion of a very old building which has been done in sympathy with the old building but with all mod cons and is sheer luxury. 3 beautifully appointed bedrooms, 2 with en suites and a large family bathroom with a huge corner bath and shower. There are plenty of towels and bath robes for all and even a basket in the bathroom full of hotel quality shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, soap and face cloths. Even the fridge was stocked with local sausages, bacon, eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms and milk, and a fresh loaf of bread and local butter. Full tins of tea bags and instant coffee, but bring your own choice of ground coffee for the espresso machine. Oh and there was also all the wood we needed for the wood burner, washing liquid & conditioner, dishwasher tablets and washing up liquid. Even treats in the dog bowl for your furry friend! Then outside there’s garden furniture, a gas BBQ and patio heater. The best holiday cottage I’ve ever stayed in by far in a perfect location just outside Land’s end. We will definitely be back.

The town itself is an ancient settlement that has a strong mining history and there are several monuments and prehistoric antiquities to visit including the Bronze Age settlement at Cape Cornwall. St Just is ideally located for visitors to explore the far west of Cornwall as it is situated on the edge of the moors and close to the beautiful north coast. In the centre of the town is Plain-an-Gwarry, a theatre used for miracle plays in medieval times, and in more recent times for the Lafrowda Festival.
