The Dower House

We had a lovely week at The Dower House.

It’s a gorgeous cottage with the perfect mix of character and modern comforts, set in a beautiful and peaceful location. We stayed during a heatwave, but the majority of the cottage stayed surprisingly cool and a fan was thoughtfully provided for the loft room. It genuinely felt like a home from home, with everything you could need, from a fully equipped kitchen to little touches such as dressing tables and mirrors in every bedroom, shelves above the bathroom sinks and face cloths provided. The beds were very comfortable too and showers great. We also loved the personal touches, including a little jar of freshly cut flowers and delicious homemade shortbread waiting for us on arrival. Although the cottage is attached to the owners’ property, it still felt very private, and everything was exceptionally clean and no need for the usual mini-clean when we arrived! We’re very fussy when it comes to holiday cottages, but we honestly couldn’t fault The Dower House and would absolutely stay here again. We would highly recommend.

well equiped, perfectly clean and very comfortable property.

Can definitely recommend it.

We would wholeheartedly recommend The Dower House.

Ali and Jason were lovely, helpful and welcoming. The cottage is amazing, beautifully clean and tidy and equipped with everything you could possibly need for a relaxing stay. There are walks into tranquil countryside from the doorstep and a super friendly pub with excellent ale and down to earth food just 300 yards away. Melchbourne is a lovely village with a fascinating history. Book The Dower House, you will not be disappointed.

Tranquil surroundings, comfortable, family break.

House looked lovely, with beams inside, but plenty of headroom.

The Dower House is a lovely property in a beautiful location for those seeking a tranquil environment away from the noise and hustle and bustle of life.

The property is wonderfully maintained, and has most items that are required. The only improvement would be reclining chairs, or a sofa with a head rest, and a more modern oven or air fryer. The owners greeted us on arrival, and this, including a welcome basket was an unexpected surprise. The basket contained excellent home-made bread and shortbread biscuits. We were also greeted by an outdoor cat who welcomed us whenever we returned from a trip. We thoroughyly enjoyed our stay at the Dower House and if we are in the local area in future we would be happy to make a second booking at this wonderful idyllic property.

A lovely property in a quiet rural setting.

Clean, comfortable and well equipped.

Extremely well equipped, comfortable and clean.

Appreciated the games room and the fruit and bread from the owners. Showers had decent power and were not affected by other water use. Really enjoyed our stay

Lovely cottage!

Very well equipped, clean, comfortable couldn't ask for more!

The house was very well equipped and spacious for six guests with comfortable beds and three bathrooms.

The location close to the pub was perfect although you have to drive to a shop. The garden had plenty of outdoor seating with a games room for entertainment. Jason greeted us on arrival and gave us helpful advice.

The cottage was beautiful, very comfy, warm and lovely to stay in.

The owner was welcoming and a couple of goodies awaited us. The perfect relaxing weekend. Thank you.

Everything was lovely.

Jason was very helpful while we were there. Wonderful for a comfortable cosy stay at this time of year. The Christmas decoration were up for us too. Open fire was lovely. We had ithe fire alight every day. They supply liquid soap in all rooms. Detergent and dish washer tablets. Also some cooking condiments. There was a welcome pack with wine, bread, butter, homemade shortbread biscuits & milk. Kitchen is very well equiped. We would definitely stay again Thank you

This was a really beautiful property, very comfortable and very well provisioned.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

Great place and great hosts.

I could not recommend this place enough. Everything you could need in the kitchen. Clean and cosy throughout. Lovely surroundings. Very peaceful.

Lovely spacious well-equipped cottage, good welcome from owner, lovely home-made shortbread, would recommend to others.

Downstairs bedroom good for the less mobile, relatively steep stairs to bedrooms on 1st and 2nd floor wouldn't suit everyone, but layout worked well for us.

Fantastic property.

Well maintained and cleaned to a very high standard. Great location for day trips out and about. Table tennis was really good fun and the games, books and dvd’s available really made our stay a wonderful one.

We have just returned from a fabulous Bank Holiday Weekend at the Dower House.

It ticked every box for a relaxing family get away, from the massive beds and comfy sofas to the beautiful well equipt kitchen. The Wi-Fi was more than adequate for us to watch the Miami Grand Prix and the selection of games and DVDs were most welcome. We made good use of the games room too! The St John's Arms just down the road is a lovely pub which we visited just for drinks and then again for a meal. We had a very warm welcome from Jason and Ali and a lovely and very much appreciated welcome pack, including some delicious homemade shortbread. We would definitely recommend this property and would love to visit again especially as it's half way between ourselves and our Son to meet up

If you are a nature lover don't forget binoculars and camera.

Lots of wildlife and birds. Look out for the Kestrel in the bird box. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/QxtVXjNS7S8ZAg1s/

A beautiful property in a beautiful peaceful area.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Absolutely perfect, immaculately clean, everything you needed for a great weekend, a lovely welcome pack and even logs for the open fire.

We celebrated our friends 90th birthday, wonderful Thank you so much

Lovely place.

Perfect and thoughtfully designed cottage for three couples. Nice welcome package. It was a great way to chill out, while eating and a drinking over the new year weekend. Thank you!

A lovely place to stay.

Ideal for relaxing and just enjoying the piece and quiet of the area. We spent quite a time just watching all the birds on the bushes and trees in the grounds. A beautifully maintained property and equipped very well. The welcome box was a lovely surprise too.

The only room which has en-suite toilet wither is the room which has single beds on first floor.

Loft which is converted into room has no door and toilet is on first floor which means you take the stairs which makes loud noises and would wake the baby up. The only place we got wifi connection was near toilet on ground floor. I would avoid this property if travelling with babies or infants. The only tolerance was owners dog who is still not trained but roaming around without leash.

Dower House is a very comfortable home with beautiful surroundings and finished to a high standard.

The owners were friendly and very helpful. The attention to detail in terms of furnishing the house and equipping the kitchen is well thought through. We all had a lovely comfortable stay. We found some great walks and cycle rides along the lakes passing through some quaint English villages. Great roads for driving and cycling. Hopefully we can make it there again soon. Thanks for sharing your house with us.

A wonderful well equipped cottage with all home comforts and impeccably clean.

The owners are friendly and helpful, even purchasing 3 large umbrellas as the weather forecast was for lots of rain and we still wanted to walk in the beautiful surroundings. Lovely to receive a welcome pack with home baked shortbread. The only little disappointment was that the local pub was never open while we visited and from chats with locals, it was hit and miss when it did open. Another bedside table with lamp would be beneficial in the master bedroom. Thank you for sharing your lovely property, garden and the most adorable cat!

Dower House was everything we hoped for and more.

Set in a small village surrounded by beautiful countryside sits this absolute gem of a cottage. The care and attention given to the interior gives an instant feeling of home. Outside were 3 separate seating areas with beautiful flowers and so peaceful. Hosts Ali and Jason were so welcoming and on hand if anything was needed. Would absolutely recommend Dower House !!

Great accommodation in a lovely spot.

Jason and Ali are terrific. Can’t wait to come back.

What a gem of a place to stay.

The small things are what makes a stay memorable. The welcome box; the essentials. The added bonus of the idyllic setting, the wildlife, and the open friendliness of Jason and Ali. Very accommodating and the house itself was all that we could have wanted. So clean and fresh. In its way, it made us feel at home straight away. A holiday that will forever be in our hearts. Cannot 'big-up' the accommodation enough! A truly wonderful place to have a vacation. Thank you.

A beautiful property that met our every need which says a lot as given that we were a family group ranging in ages from 2 - 85.

The location was stunning with plenty of privacy to allow the children to have a run around whilst able to have a quiet tea in the secluded courtyard. All facilities were first class, with an abundance of room within each bedroom and each en-suite. An unforgettable stay for all the right reasons.

Wonderful, well-equipped, spacious and cosy!

The property was immaculate and the owner was very flexible.

We wanted to check in early and check out late, there was no issue at all. The kitchen was very well equipped and so was the whole cottage. We are definitely going back later in the year

This excellent holiday cottage, in a quiet location, was just what we wanted.

We enjoyed being there very much.

The house was everything we hoped for and more.

Warm and cozy but spacious too. Very well equipped too. Full of old English charm resulting in a fantastic family Christmas. Massive thanks to Jason and Ali for making our stay so special.

Excellent holiday house which perfectly suited our requirements for a pre-Xmas family gathering.

Some great walks from the house and cosy local pubs. Recommended.

Lovely property which was comfortable and immaculately clean.

The hosts were very helpful and responded to any issues promptly. A nice location for total peace and relaxation. Lots to see and do if you drive a short distance. Liked the property so much, that rebooked while still there!

We have had a wonderful stay.

Excellent cleanliness, very comfortable, very well equipped kitchen, very responsive and helpful to emails and requests. Would loved to have stayed longer and would definitely come again if we were in the area. Highly recommended.

Fabulous, comfy, warm accommodation, with everything you could possibly need provided.

We felt at home immediately. The box of goodies and bits in the fridge were very welcome, the homemade shortbread was delicious, thank you. Just one small point: a bedside table and lamp on both sides of the beds would be perfect.

Fantastic accomodation in a lovely part of England, just off the beaten track enough with plenty of country walks from the door step, but still within easy reach of local towns.

The house was very well presented, comfortable and well equiped and the owners were very friendly and helpful.

We highly recommend this property.

Our 3 generations loved everything about it. The games room was a lovely touch.

Delightful cottage in a peaceful location with walking from the door - just fabulous for a gurlz week away!

Super clean, cosy and high quality furnishings and fittings - a real home from home. A welcome pack was left for us with some naughty but very very nice homemade shortbread! A super relaxing break and we will definitely be back

A beautiful property.

Very peaceful surroundings. Hosts were very helpful without being intrusive. Really enjoyed our stay.

Lovely cottage; Jason and Ali were wonderful and very helpful.

This was our 2nd visit to The Dower House and we hope it will be one of many.

We were lucky enough to have a week of sunshine, perfect accommodation and excellent Hosts. ……….we shall return!!!

Super property in a lovely rural location.

Clean and comfortable which made for an excellent base while we travelled around. Would stay again!

Comfortable house with all amenities one could wish for.

Beds are obviously a personal preference, I found them a little on the harder side, but contrary to other reviews found the sofas comfortable. The owner was friendly and unobtrusive (but on hand if required), which we appreciated. Lovely to lie in bed and hear nothing but owls. Would cerainly recommend.

What a gem!

A welcoming start to the visit by Jason ,the owner who made us feel very comfortable & answered all our queries concerning local amenities. The accommodation is pristine & well resourced .Very quiet with lovely views of the garden & occasional deer. As keen walkers the local maps with tracks from the house were a bonus providing a relaxing start to the break. One of the nicest holiday cottages we’ve ever stayed in.

Fabulous very well equipped cottage - had everything we needed.

Peaceful location and good base for touring area. Good to have a pub serving food within walking distance.

My Husband and I had a really lovely stay over Christmas.

The property was spotlessly clean and well positioned for us to be able to meet up with Family at Rushden Lakes. The beds were very comfortable which is always something of a concern for us. The only small negative I'd say was the seating for the dining area in the lounge. On one side is what I can only describe as a church pew which is not very comfortable for sitting on for any length of time. As there were only 2 of us we were able to reposition the table slightly so we could just use 2 of the chairs but if there were 6 people to be seated, the 3 on the pew could have an issue. All in all, I wouldn't hesitate to stay her again and I'd happily recommend.

Lovely warm house, everything great quality and beautifully decorated.

Comfy beds. Settees look nice but not very comfortable.

Beautiful holiday cottage in an interesting part of the country surrounded by many lovely villages.

The cottage is large, very well equipped and full of character. There are wooden beams in almost every room, fortunately they're not too low. Despite its age there's plenty of room in the cottage and there's a superb kitchen / breakfast area with everything you'd need. There's plenty of space to park the, and a small garden area with seating and a fire pit. Owners are friendly and helpful. Our only problem (and this has been mentioned in another review) was with the seating in the lounge. The 2 "Chesterfield" style couches are very uncomfortable for those of us of a certain age - no back or neck support at all. But apart from that the cottage was excellent.

We had a wonderful time at Dower Cottage.

It has everything you need to relax and chill out. The kitchen is very well equipped with utensils and tableware you would ever need. We were greeted with a hamper with the most delicious shortbread which was a lovely way to start our holiday. The master bed upstairs was so comfy, you drifted off to sleep straight away. Ali and Jason are great hosts and of course James the cat comes to check on you every now and again to make sure you are enjoying your stay. All in all we had a fantastic week and we’re very lucky with the weather, watching the hot air balloons go by one night was magical

Cask ale pub short walk away, no street lights, visitors should take a torch.

everything else Excellent.

One of the most comprehensively equipped accommodation we have stayed in both in the UK & abroad.

Our only slight comment which wouldn’t have been an issue if warmer weather was the sofas were not the most comfortable for sitting in.

Easy to find, close to the local pub.

TV in every bedroom. A lovely and spacious cottage, with a game’s room suitable for children. The area has many local footpaths for exploring during the day and provides a calm retreat for relaxing in the evening.

The house was lovely and was everything we expected.

Unfortunately we had some rain every day of the week, but that is England, so we went out several days and discovered beautiful, unusual shops and wonderful countryside.

The Dower House was comfortable luxury and our hosts were welcoming and helpful. We appreciated the ‘hamper’ that was awaiting us in the kitchen, which meant we could tuck into Lemon Drizzle and cups of tea as soon as we got there. “Well done Dower House” and here’s hoping for a return visit in the not too distant future. Frances and Sue.

Ants coming from underneath the island.

And cobwebs inside the kitchen cupboards. Otherwise Great!

We loved our stay at the Dower House, the house itself is really clean and a great standard and the surrounding area is beautiful.

Would highly recommend booking in some beauty treatments with Ali. I'm sure we will be back one day.

Oh what a truly wonderful place!

We felt welcomed from the moment we walked in the door. The extra touches were evident everywhere.

The photographs of the property looked great and the reality was even better.

Our hosts were the perfect balance of available and unobtrusive. Our teenage sons spent many a happy hour playing table tennis. It is so peaceful and there are walks galore in the immediate area. The kitchen is very well equipped and the property a real gem.

Had a very relaxing week in the cottage.

Great to be in such a quiet rural location and stay in such a nice clean property. It was very cosy with the wood burning stove.

Beautiful large cottage in stunning grounds.

Extremely peaceful getaway just what was needed for a catch up weekend with friends. Kitchen in cottage was superb and well stocked with everything you needed. Beds were so comfy too!! Owner Jason so helpful with any questions we had! Would not hesitate to recommend The Dower House ... beautiful place to stay!

We loved the cottage and its location.

All bedrooms were a good size, nicely furnished and all had own bathrooms which we thought was really good. Kitchen and living area were a good size and felt homely. Everything in the cottage had been thought of such as a coffee machine in the kitchen and log burner in the living area with ample logs supplied for this. Outdoors there were 2 main areas to sit and eat and one of these areas having a BBQ and firepit, both of which we used throughout our stay and enjoyed! From the top bedroom velux we enjoyed being able to see horses and sheep in the field ahead! There is a pub in walking distance down the road, which was nice to sit out and have a drink at, we also ate here later in the week. Some nice local walks from the cottage. We had a card and shortbread from the owners left on arrival, which was a nice welcome and they were happy to help with any questions before we arrived and during our stay. There was also a friendly cat around the grounds, which we enjoyed seeing regularly. We all loved our stay and would highly recommend, hopefully we will return in the future! :)

Perfect retreat for a week!

Attention to detail was given in all respects and we couldn’t ask for more. We appreciated the goodies on arrival and loved the peace and quiet of the area. Would recommend highly!

Such a lovely property with everything you could possibly need for a fantastic holiday, including a great welcome hamper.

The house is in a beautiful peaceful setting, and the surrounding villages and nearby pubs made for a perfect break away.

This is a wonderful property!

Beautifully clean, really comfy and lovely touch of a welcome hamper on arrival. Excellent communication before and during visit - can not recommend highly enough!

What a comfortable and well equipped holiday house, we had a fabulous stay!

Set in a lovely peaceful location, with super comfy beds we all came away feeling refreshed. Would love to stay again, and would not hesitate to recommend.

The cottage was beautiful, so well equipped and really lovely and clean.

The hosts were lovely and were keen to help and look after us. We will definitely be back to stay again.

Dower House is a beautiful property in the countryside.

It was the perfect place to get away and have some relaxing quality time with family. The owners have thought of everything & everything you need for a short break is there for you. Beds are very comfy and the house is very cosy. Couldn’t recommend more!

The owners of Dower House extended us a very warm welcome and were friendly and hospitable, helping quickly with any enquiries we had.

The cottage has been beautifully and stylishly refurbished to a very high standard which makes it a very comfortable and easy place to stay - the underfloor heating makes it toasty too! What was extra special for us was that (after consulting with us) they took the trouble to decorate for Christmas which made it even more cosy and inviting and thrilled my children. The bedrooms all have plenty of wardrobe and drawer space and each has a very nice dressing table. The bathrooms are all great and have good showers. All is spotlessly clean. We have stayed in many rental properties but none have had a kitchen so well equipped as this - everything has been thought of and is in excellent condition which meant we could confidently host Christmas dinner! The owners' consideration even extends to providing a decent amount of basic food and household products so you can move straight in without having to have shopped, something which we particularly appreciate as we travel from overseas and can't load these things into the boot of the car as most might. The cottage is set in beautiful grounds and has lovely outdoor seating which would be lovely to use in warmer weather. In fact, ten days after arriving home, we have booked Dower House again for a week in the summer. I highly recommend this property and thank the owners and Sykes Cottages for a great service.

This is our second visit to Dower Cottage and we absolutely love it.

It has everything you need. Jason is amazing and there is nothing he doesn’t think about. We are already thinking of booking for next year.

I'd like to start off that pictures of the Dower house does not do justice to what we experienced.

The house was simply gorgeous. We booked a weekend getaway to get away from it all as we live in London and this was exactly what was needed. The tranquility of the area was amazing, we had everything we needed to cook and basically not leave the house for two whole days. The house was very homey and everything was beyond our expectations. I would call this a home away from home and would definitely book again. Our host was also super friendly, made us feel very welcome and was a simple phone call away if we needed anything.

This was our second time at this beautiful comfortable cottage and it wasn't disappointing.

It's done in high spec with tasteful furnishings and very comfortable throughout. The owners go out their way to bring a warm welcome with the thoughtful food basket. The location is perfect for us to meet with our friends and family in Bedford. Our children love staying here. Looking forward to staying here again next year.

Brilliant and very family-friendly accommodation place to stay and lovely host.

This was our second time in the last 6 months. The House is extremely clean. Everything is well thought for the guests and most of the stuff in the house is very high quality

The cottage was just beautiful.

Large bedrooms, wonderful sitting room that was so cozy and comfortable. The kitchen was spacious and very well equipped. It exceeded my expectations and was perfect for entertaining my family. The setting was wonderful too. Open fields, farms and woodlands. I highly recommend it if you need a location convenient to Bedford, Northampton or the surrounding area. The hosts were very hospitable. It deserves a five start rating.

This property was perfect for our stay as a group of adults who planned to stay and relax for the weekend.

The property was finished to a very high standard and featured a very well equipt kitchen. The living area was comfortable and cosy. The grounds surrounding the property were beautifully kept. We meet the owners and they were also lovely and accommodating.

Wonderful house.

Beautiful location. Great places to visit nearby. Thoughtful hosts. Would love to stay again.

The property is even more comfortable, convenient, spacious and well equipped than the pre-booking description shows and has a fine visitors book extending back to 2017 with nothing but glowing comments from very satisfied earlier clients.

No negative comments or disappointments and the owners could not have been more helpful if required and totally unobtrusive at all other times. An idyllic property easily deserving of 5 stars and in an area with a very wide variety of eateries and Retail therapy outlets plus historic centers like Cambridge, Ely and Woburn.

Cottage very clean, kitchen well fitted & modern, decor bright & fresh, all 3 en suites very nice.

A fantastic property which was equipped with every facility you could want, everything was thought of and of a high luxury standard.

We only wish we could have stayed longer.

The Dower House was a really lovely property with a lot of character and everything was perfect.

It was so beyond expectations and everything was of such high quality and luxurious.

Great host and great cottage.

Very nice and cosy atmosphere to spend full weekend.

The cottage was beautiful, probably the nicest holiday home we’ve ever stayed in.

Attention to detail was amazing.

Wonderful few days in a fabulous property

Just a great experience

We had an amazing couple of days in this beautiful cottage.

It was set in beautiful surroundings and very quiet and peaceful. We will definitely be booking to go back again next year.

The holiday cottage was really comfortable and extremely well equipped.

It was a real home from home and somewhere where we could flop back and relax after a very busy day out and about. The surroundings were beautiful and the games room was popular with the menfolk!!

The cottage was beautifully decorated, comfortable, immaculately clean and was very well equipped.

The owners were very friendly and helpful and it was very peaceful. Anyone who visits will have a fabulous time.

A lovely cottage in a wonderful secluded setting within walking distance of the village pub serving excellent food.

Very comfortable house, very well equipped, nice walks, close to Cambrigde and Leicester, nice pub, cheap off peak trains to London

Everything was fantastic, from the meet and greet complete with homemade lemon drizzle cake included in the welcome pack to the thought and care taken in restoring and equipping the cottage.

The whole experience was more in line with a high quality hotel than a self catering property, lovely white linen and super fluffy towels! As a family we are considering making this a regular stay as it is ideally located from both our homes.

I would firstly like to start by saying a big thank you to Sykes Cottages Ltd for the first class service in finding and searching for the right property that we needed for all our needs it was easy from start to finish .

My Second big thank you is to the Owners of The Dower House , we had an amazing time staying there from the day we arrived to the sad day that we had to leave . The house was unbelievably clean and every possible item you needed for your stay was there from kitchen utensils to fresh bread and home made cake left on the kitchen counter for our arrival. The home made cake was sublime and went down well with afternoon tea . We had a fabulous stay close to all the areas we wanted to visit and far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the city . We enjoyed every part of our stay and on arrival the owner Jason was there to great us and show us around nothing was to much trouble . We only had one small comment to make about the house .That in the down stairs bathroom maybe a handheld shower could be fitted to the existing over head fixed shower just for the easy access for the disabled but this is just an observation defiantly not a criticism . Many thanks to the owners of The Dower house for a fabulous stay and we hope to be back again soon . Jonathan .

Beautiful cottage in a quiet and picturesque village with friendly and helpful hosts, even the weather was magnificent.

Would recommend the Dower House to anyone for any occasion.

What a wonderfull, luxurious and spacious cottage!

Exceeded all our expectations. We loved the kitchen, the beds, the bathrooms, everything! Would gladly book again

Everything about the Dower House was very good, the only slight setback was the Wifi which was a bit slow but we knew about that before we made the reservation and it wasn't a problem.

It's a beautiful house in lovely surroundings and everything was relaxed and exceeded our expectations. Would highly recommend it. Thank you for a great time.

Never been in a cottage so well-equipped and in such a beautiful, quiet place.

We were allowed to use so much of the facilities and felt really at home. Lots of interesting places to visit in the neighbourhood. We had beautiful weather, but even if we had to stay in the cottage, there would have been lots to keep us busy. Thanks for everything!

Very peaceful location, with local pub in easy walk distance.

Careful thought has been given to provide everything you will need for a lovely holiday. Very spacious and 5 star accommodation. Tastefully decorated and beds very comfortable. Immaculate throughout. I can highly recommend, and would definitely stay again if visiting the area.

We were extremely impressed with our stay at Dower House.

The accommodation was immaculate, and unusually for other accommodations we have rented, also had all those little things in place that are often lacking. There was also an unexpected welcome pack on our arrival with bread, butter, coffee and home made lemon drizzle cake. The owners made us feel very welcome on arrival, but also gave us our independence which was appreciated. With three on suite bedrooms, two of which can be configured into twin or super king beds, the accommodation is flexible to equally support an adults only stay, or a larger family. We would have liked to have used the outside seating areas and barbeque, but the UK weather on our stay did not allow, so we had to make do with using the wood burner (which nicely supplemented the underfloor heating on the ground floor and radiators upstairs). We enjoyed our visit very much and intend to stay again in the near future.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Dower House, a lovely rural setting, a well equipped spotless house with plenty of space for four adults, two children and a baby.

A much appreciated welcome pack with homemade cake which was delicious. We visited Rushden Lakes - shopping and nature on one site and Stanwick Lakes with walking trails and adventure playground that the children loved. Highly recommend this house and the area.

Absolutely gorgeous accommodation!

! The kitchen quickly became the hub of activity and the gorgeous island was made for friendly dinners and leisurely breakfasts. The hosts were so accommodating, a lovely little welcome hamper of bread, milk and a homemade lemon drizzle cake - gorgeous! Good walks through the village, 10 minutes from Asda and 15 minutes from Rushden lakes shopping. Thank for a lovely weekend break, see you soon !

We had a wonderful weekend at the Dower House!

We went for the weekend as a family to celebrate my Mum's 60th birthday. In my opinion, the pictures don't do it full justice. It's been finished to a lovely standard, and was plenty warm enough even without the log burner on. The facilities are great - we had everything we could need in the kitchen! I had to bake scones during our time there, and I was able to do this perfectly with the kitchen equipment provided. There were three separate ensuite bathrooms (i.e. one per bedroom), and also a separate ground floor toilet off of the living area which was handy. Lots of nice walks nearby. Plenty of parking if you're going in separate cars. I would definitely stay here again for a similar occasion. The only thing that would stop me visiting again very soon is that I can't bring my dog! But I totally understand why they have a no pets policy.

We had an amazing weekend away at Dower House!

The house is in a picture perfect location, with lovely walks and a pub on the doorstep! The house itself is beautifully furnished to a very high standard including underfloor heating, a huge fireplace with log burner and has everything you need for a break away. We arrived to a lovely welcome pack (including the most amazing lemon drizzle cake we have ever had!) and the owners were on hand to answer any questions we had (including weather reports as it was snowing on our way there!). We will definitely be back to Dower House!

This has been the best house we have stayed in.

Warm welcome, lovely house, everything you could need in a house.

Super hosts who ensured the family received a warm welcome.

Beautiful property finished to a very high quality.
