The only draw back for me was I couldn’t just open a door to the back garden to let the dog out, as it was located a short distance away, so toileting meant using a lead. May have been me not reading the description properly. Very well equipped, very comfortable bed.

We couldn't have asked for more for our short break. Everything was thought of and catered for and the attention to detail made us feel so welcome. From the cover left for the sofa so our dog could have a cuddle with us, to the milk and eggs left in the fridge to get us started. It was great. The property itself is a very cute, rustic property with a lot of charm and a unique place to stay. The kitchen is fully kitted out and the bathroom is amazing. It was very clean, tidy and so beautifully decorated. Comfortable bed, enough storage for our things, DVD's, books, and games for entertainment, and plenty of local information left for days out. Everything had been thought of! Truly cannot recommend this little place enough, we will be visiting again....and again!

  • "The accommodation is very quaint and lovely, good facilities and in an interesting area."

It was spotlessly clean, very impressed with standard of cleanliness. Hosts were very responsive when we had an issue with keys. There are a few improvements for comfort - as others have fed back, sofa is very uncomfortable and needs replacing, and the towels are old and rough and could also do with being replaced. Plastic and wooden utensils, and some pans and chopping boards, are unuseable and new ones needed.

Many thanks for your feedback. I am really happy that you enjoyed your stay at Old Cart Shed. Thank you for bringing these comments to our attention, we will replace these items in due course. Property Owner

  • "The Old Cart Shed is a very well designed property that is a joy to stay in."

There is everything you could need for a comfortable stay. It is perfectly equipped with everything that you need for a great stay either a long or short stay. There is even a garden to sit in when the weather is good. The owners e very welcoming and are there if you need them but give you complete peace during our stay. Almost opposite there is a Costcutter shop that has a Post office and a Chemist that is very handy and a petrol station too. But one of the best things nearby is the Spice of Asia restaurant . It does the most amazing food and has an enormous menu with something for everyone. They also do take away too. The Old Cart Shed is perfectly paced to explore Wiltshire. While there we went to Lacock abbey and the Fox Talbot museum and Village where Harry Potter was Filmed. Then Swindon Designer Outlet and the Great Western Railway museum, Avebury with the stone circles, and then lastly the Caen Hill Flight of locks that are amazing. If you go to the Great Western Museum in Swindon keep your ticket and when you go to the Designer Outlet next door you can get a free car park ticket !! There are so many other places nearby that we will have to return to see more of the area. We would fully recommend this lovely Holiday rental to all ages and hope you have as enjoyable time there as we did.

All within walking distance from the cottage, approx 5- 10 mins ( petrol and shop and chemists over the road from cottage ) . ! The listing was easy to understand and comprehensive. It was a very last minute booking over the busy Easter period so i needed to phone in - the girl who took my phone call was very helpful and really nice. The Old Cart shed was cosy and warm upon arrival with a great welcome pack of eggs, milk, biscuits, tea, coffee etc. It had everything you could need ie every faculty like wifi, hair dryer, millions of tv channels and even dog bowl with treats. Also lots of local information, (i highly recommend the Indian across the road.) We love Avebury Stone Circle and that area which was only a 20 minute drive. It was exceptionally clean (and I am a clean freak). It was very, very well resourced and private. It had a beautiful outdoor area where you could sit in peace. Inside was warm and comfortable with lamps and under cabinet lighting in the kitchen. The shower although attached to the taps in the bath was very powerful. There was plenty of storage room and cupboard space. The owner met us after calling him as it was quite difficult to find. He was very helpful and did not disturb us at all over the weekend. I would definitely recommend and return. The pub over the road is quite run down and closes early if there are not many people in. About the location

Royal Wootton Bassett 4 miles; Calne 6; Chippenham 9.5 miles.

The large village of Lyneham is situated at the southern end of the Cotswold Hills, in rural northern Wiltshire, close to the border with Gloucestershire. Lyneham is probably best remembered as the base of the RAF’s Hercules fleet; the base was closed in 2012 and now hosts a Defence Training College. The village is well served by local businesses, including restaurants, pubs and shops, whilst the larger community of Royal Wootton Bassett is just 4 miles away. The friendly market town of Wootton Bassett was granted Royal patronage in 2011, due to its link with the repatriation of military personnel who sadly lost their lives serving their country overseas. It boasts a weekly market and also offers a good selection of local shops and inns, and provides an ideal touring base from which to explore the attractions of Wiltshire and beyond. The town is close to the historic Lydiard Park, Bowood and Longleat, with the ancient sites of Avebury and Stonehenge nearby. Visit the charming town of Malmesbury and the Cotswold Water Park, and with the historic cities of Bath, Oxford and Salisbury all easily accessible, makes Lyneham an ideal base at any time of the year.
