Description
Nestled between the charming villages of Goodrich and Whitchurch, Rocklands Farm Cottage is the ideal retreat for couples or friends seeking tranquillity, nature, and adventure. Whether you’re into wildlife, walking, fishing, cycling, golf, great food, arts and crafts or simply enjoying a peaceful coffee in picturesque towns and villages this cosy cottage is the perfect escape.
Set within 36 acres of spacious grounds, the 2 storey cottage, adjoining the owner’s barn conversion, is accessed from the courtyard where there is ample parking. The cottage is just a 5-minute walk to the River Wye and Coppett Hill where you can enjoy fantastic walks immersing yourself in nature. Inside, you’ll find a well-equipped kitchen with everything you need to prepare home-cooked meals or venture out and explore the area’s many outstanding pubs and Michelin starred restaurants.
After a day of exploring, unwind in the conservatory garden room, relax in the sun loungers in the walled garden, or enjoy a jigsaw puzzle, board game or book. At night, wrap yourself in the super king-size duvet and stargaze through the overhead Velux window as you dream of your next adventure. Start your mornings with a coffee and a peaceful stroll around the grounds, where you’re likely to spot the horses, deer, buzzards, red kites, squirrels, foxes, hedgehogs, red and green woodpeckers, and a variety of garden birds. Bring your fishing gear, golf clubs, bikes, kayak or even your horse and make the most of the great outdoors.
Goodrich Village and Castle are both within walking distance, offering local pubs and a chance to explore the medieval castle with its panoramic views and freshly baked scones. Coppett Hill, also accessed directly from the grounds, offers spectacular vistas and scenic walks.
Symonds Yat is nearby, where you can hire a boat on the River Wye, visit the Butterfly Zoo, or take in views from one of the most famous view points in the country. The Forest of Dean and surrounding area is perfect for walking, cycling, paddleboarding, high ropes and other outdoor activities. Golfers will be in their element with 9 golf courses within 30 minutes. Ross-on-Wye offers a delightful mix of shops, cafes, pubs, and the historic 17th-century market hall, while Monmouth provides a rich history with attractions such as Monmouth Castle and the Georgian Shire Hall and amazing coffee shops.
You can also explore the historic charm of Tintern and its Cistercian Abbey built in 1131. Visit Hereford for quaint shops and other nearby towns and villages, or immerse yourself in the local creative scene, including the annual HArt arts and crafts trail, pottery and art lessons.
If you still have the energy after all your exploring and fresh air there is plenty of evening activities from line dancing, salsa and disco.
Whether you’re an adventurer, explorer, foodie, creative soul, or simply in need of a peaceful restful getaway, Rocklands Farm Cottage welcomes you with open arms.

What guests are saying
A very generous and warm welcome from our lovely host who was very honest, knowledgeable and friendly.
Very different to some you encounter. The cottage is set in one of the most beautiful areas of the U.K. with so much to visit close at hand.
What a really lovely cottage, spotlessly clean, very well equipped everything you need for a perfectly comfortable stay with a fantastic welcome hamper.
Wonderful surroundings with the horses, wildlife and local walks. Easy access to local towns and attractions. The owner Marrianne is just a wonderful person, from the lovely warm welcome to ensuring we were comfortable and had everything we could possibly need. It was lovely meeting all the horses and a real bonus was being able to help with some of their care under expert tuition. We will be returning and would highly recommend staying here. Thank you Marrianne.
I don't want to say what a fantastic cottage this is at Rocklands Farm, nor how peaceful and tranquil it is.
I dont want to to say how effervescent Marianne is with her charming smile, her intimate knowledge of the area and her super strong hugs when she welcomes you. Would we go again. No. Course we shall. I just don't want too many folk understanding what a fabulous haven this is so we can't book it again because it's booked up. And it will be. Thank you Marianne
