What guests are saying
The bungalow is in a lovely area with great access to local amenities.
Internally the shower and bathroom were full of mould both black and red (body fat) the en suite also constantly dripped (when called the owner asked what my problem was so i did not answer and text from him), cobwebs everywhere, food crumbs in the kitchen drawers, crockery and cutlery were all mismatched, the furniture was mismatched and the mattresses did not fit the beds correctly - genuinely felt as though it was kitted out from a charity shop!
Having being back home a week and have had time to think about this review I am still in the same mind I was in a week ago.
Bungalow 37 nothing wrong with it modern roomy no complaint BUT the owner must have furnished it either from charity shops or raided skips, the furniture was old mismatched and uncomfortable. The mattresses did not fit the beds, coat hangers nearly non existent. Kitchen, no utensils very poor quality cutlery, pans all odd ones, crockery mismatched, no breadbin, no butter dish, all together a very poor place. It is situated in a very nice location, but the owner needs to equip it to a much higher standard, when I go on holiday I do not want to go slumming. The bedding was discoloured and the towels must have been purchased from the outlet that supplies horse blankets. There was a dining chair that was in need of repair coming apart. Nothing had been PAT tested although this not a legal requirement. Nice bungalow but needs a deep clean. Will think twice about booking with SYKES if this is the standard they are allowing to be rented out. Also no information of how the cooker, washing machine worked, no local information re: DOCTOR, DENTIST ETC
The owner met us on arrival, walked us through the bungalow and was very pleasant, he also contacted us midweek to comment on the weather.
I did not expect 5* accommodation for the price paid. The furnishings are dated but acceptable. Mattresses were comfortable. On first sight the accommodation is good. However some aspects really let down what could be a lovely bungalow. There are cleanliness issues such as stained pillows, greasy microwave and cooker hood filter, dust on chairs and behind bathroom fittings. Also a nasty damp smell in the bathroom that needs addressing. The garden chairs, of which there are now only 2 are rusted and feel unsafe.
