  • "Delightful property in a rural setting."

Our hosts at Highfield Farm were welcoming and friendly. Basic essentials plus cake were more than appreciated. The cottage was well equipped and very comfortable and met all our requirements. Couldn’t have wished for more except for some better weather! Great food at The Red Lion & The Countryman nearby. Can thoroughly recommend these two places. All in all a wonderful experience. Thank you once again.

We had a very relaxing few days at Apple Barn, which had everything we needed. The cottage is well set out, clean and spacious, we enjoyed just sitting outside, it's so quiet and peaceful. The owners are so welcoming, thanks for the cake, tea, coffee & milk. We visited Stowe Gardens, Canon's Ashby, Blenheim Palace and had an excellent meal at the Red Lion at Helidon.

So much thought had gone into making a lovely little holiday home. It was so clean and had everything we needed. There is so much to do in the area and we were so lucky to get such gorgeous weather. The owner Elaine was kind to let us use their beautiful garden. She gave us a lovely cake and some fresh plums from a tree close by. Everything was just perfect and we hope to come again.

  • "Wow just Wow!"

What a fabulous location, accommodation & the very best host. Elaine is such a great host & the property is spotlessly clean, really well appointed in the most peaceful & wellbeing supporting location. The Welcome Lemon Drizzle cake is also a lovely touch. We stayed over an extended period of weeks whilst awaiting completion of of our new house move and Elaine & her family were so accommodating and thoughtful......the farm and the animals are terrific to observe and the whole set up is 5 Star ! Couldn't recommend it highly enough - make sure you pop down the road to The Red Lion for a bite in the next village of Helidon, it is a gastro treat & a really lovely pub!

Our host was very welcoming too. We visited Althorp & Canon Ashby, both worth a visit and enjoyable. There is lots of places to visit in the surrounding areas. The local pub in Hallidon ‘ Red Lion’ serves good food. We had a very enjoyable & relaxed 4 night stay.

  • "The Apple Barn is a little gem."

It is beautifully and thoughtfully presented with plenty of attention to detail. Even the knives for food preparation were sharp (a first for me in holiday cottages). The bed and bed linen are great. Also there were white towels and grey towels so you always knew you were using your own towel. We would have liked more instructions in the booklet about how to dispose of food waste, dry mixed recycling and general rubbish. We were working from home and there is not a lot of space for two work stations but it is a holiday cottage not a live/work space. The wifi connection was excellent. We would happily come again but if we did we would try to book one of the other two units as they have a better view and access to the garden. Neither were available for our dates which were a last minute booking after another owner had let us down by cancelling our stay. We feel very lucky to have been here in the peace and quiet.
