The house was brilliant.
Perfectly placed for what we needed. The layout worked well for us too. We were staying as I got married in Reading centre and our reception venue was nearby. The house was clean and tidy. Easy to gain access from instructions. The kitchen was well equipt and easy to use. The house has been updated since the photos and had a very nice cosy living space. Unfortunately, all of our family except one member didn’t sleep well at all. The mattresses could do with updating as they were very uncomfortable and caused most of us to not sleep on the night before or after the wedding. The downstairs bedroom in particular was very uncomfortable. It did impact us as we were exhausted and pretty much dreaded the second nights stay.
Absolutely fantastic.
Great house with 5 double bedrooms, all with en-suites. Big kitchen diner and cosy sofa. Everything that was needed for quite a few people to stay around my daughter’s wedding in Shiplake and only 10 mins away. Car parking for 5 cars if positioned right as 2 spaces at the back of property too which was so easy. Highly recommend for friends to get together or big family get togethers.
This is a well appointed house badly let down by the levels of cleanliness.
It seems that it's primarily set up as an HMO. This wasn't in the property description. I think the owners need to decide which route they want to take as the HMO and holiday markets are very different. There were a long list of cleaning issues when we arrived. I took photos of some but can't see any way of uploading them. There were: Bits of food in both kitchen sinks and on the washing up brush. Dirty, burnt, scratched pans in the cupboard. Filthy mugs in the cupboard. The kitchen tap was dirty. The kitchen cupboards, mirrors and shower screens were smeared and some bathrooms smelt of dirty cleaning cloths/mops. Surfaces, handles and floors felt sticky. The fridge and freezer had traces of food in them. The corners of some of the showers weren't clean. Some of the soap and shampoo containers were empty and didn't look clean. One bed didn't have a mattress protector and one pillow didn't have a protector. The outdoor furniture was dirty and there was a full ashtray on the table and cigarette ends under the table and chairs. We spent the first hour of our stay cleaning! I feel bad leaving such a long list but the owners have obviously spent a lot of money kitting out the property and it's let down by these issues. On a positive note the bed linen and towels are professionally cleaned and were spotless. One suggestion is to install a stair rail from the ground to first floor. The stairs treads are very narrow and it feels dangerous.
