The property

Perched in an elevated position above Carrowniskey Strand near Louisburgh, County Mayo, this attractive cottage enjoys sweeping views across the Atlantic in a truly memorable coastal setting.

Aptly named Ocean View, the property sits within the dramatic west Mayo landscape, where rolling mountains meet golden sands and the sea shifts constantly with the light.

From the moment you arrive, the scent of salt in the air and the sound of the waves invite you to slow down and head straight for the shore just moments away.

Inside, the cottage is bright and neatly presented, offering four bedrooms that provide flexible accommodation for families, couples, or groups of friends keen to spend time outdoors.

The open-plan kitchen and dining area forms the heart of the home, a sociable space for gathering over meals and sharing plans for the day ahead.

After exploring the coastline, the sitting room offers a welcoming place to settle in and reflect on the day’s adventures.

Step outdoors and you’re surrounded by the unmistakable character of west Mayo, with stone walls, bursts of flowering fuchsia, fresh sea breezes, and mountain views creating a strong sense of place.

Carrowniskey Strand is particularly well known for surfing, attracting enthusiasts throughout the year, while offshore the inhabited islands of Inishbofin, Inishturk, and Clare Island add to the area’s appeal.

Regular boat trips depart from nearby Roonagh Pier, with additional sailings available from Cleggan, making island-hopping an easy and rewarding day out.

The friendly town of Louisburgh lies just four miles away and offers a good selection of pubs and restaurants, while the lively streets of Westport provide a change of pace with craft shops, cafés, and traditional music.

Cyclists can also enjoy the nearby Greenway, a scenic route that showcases some of the region’s most breath-taking landscapes.

With its striking location and wealth of experiences close by, Ocean View offers a memorable coastal escape in County Mayo.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of €450.
