The cottage was lovely and the host had thought of everything (even spare toothbrushes, should anyone have forgotten theirs).

The directions could have been made easier by stating that the property was on the main street through the village but, other than that, I can't think of anything that could have been better.

The property had everything you could possibly want for a quiet short break.

Situation wise it was great in a quiet village but within an hour of lots of interesting history.... Barnard Castle, Durham, Raby Castle, Richmond. Thank you for a lovely few days.

A very nice few days were had in this lovely old cottage.

Having owned my own holiday cottage in Whitby for a number of years , I know how much work goes into running one. The owner here quite rightly pointed out one or two issues that she waiting to have sorted and that was absolutely fine. Plenty of logs and coal for the log burner if needed, very spacious with everything you needed. Around 10 minutes or so from Barnard Castle so that was fine too. This is most definitely a retreat for the rustic country lover who's only real needs are cleanliness, warmth and comfort on a cool night. I wish the owner all the very best in this recently new venture. Mark Witherington.
