  • "No response from Sykes or owner on the first night of our stay regarding our issues despite trying 4 different phone numbers & messaging through the site."

Came home early a refund would be a nice gesture but I doubt that will happen.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We are very sorry to hear about your experience and the difficulties you encountered during your stay. We completely understand how frustrating it must have been not to receive a response on your first night, especially after trying several contact methods. Please accept our sincere apologies for the inconvenience and disappointment this caused. At the time of your stay, we were unfortunately impacted by a week-long internet outage, which affected both our phone and internet access. This significantly limited our ability to respond as promptly as we normally would. We fully appreciate that this does not lessen your experience, and we are truly sorry that this disruption contributed to the lack of communication. Following your initial report to Sykes, we can confirm that the issues raised have now been addressed. We are committed to ensuring the property meets the expected standards for all guests moving forward. Your comments are being taken very seriously, and we are working closely with Sykes to review what happened and ensure improvements are made. We would also be happy to have your case looked into further, including whether a gesture of goodwill may be appropriate. Once again, we are very sorry that your stay did not meet expectations. We do hope this will not deter you from staying with us again, and we would welcome the opportunity to provide you with a much-improved experience in the future. Kind regards, Melanie Stephens Property Owner

  • "We absolutely loved the cottage and had a wonderful 10 day holiday."

The cottage is comfortable, well equipped and genuinely dog friendly (no long list of do's and don'ts for the dogs!) The owners are very generous in the extras they provide, i.e. Olive Oil, ground coffee, wash pods etc. The shower in the downstairs utility room was so powerful which was a lovely surprise (we didn't expect great water pressure because of the rural location but were pleasantly surprised). The cottage is situated in a lovely rural location but in easy reach of places to visit. There is a sports field in the village that is good for the dogs to have an off lead run before heading out for the day. My husband loved the local pub! Many thanks to the lovely owners for their support during our stay - phoning us on the day we arrived to check all was ok was a lovely gesture.

Thank you for your positive review - it’s what we strive for. So pleased you enjoyed your stay at our cottage. It was a pleasure to chat to you during your holiday. Hope to be able to accommodate you again in the future. Melanie Stephens. Property Owner

  • "We’ve just returned from a week staying at 2 Freeland Cottages and would definitely recommend it."

It’s full of character, had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Location is great and there. Is a fantastic local pub just a couple of minutes walk away which serves excellent food. For walkers, it’s perfect. We did a couple of very scenic walks on Dartmoor which start literally on the doorstep. All in all, we had a great week and hope to return again in the future.

Delighted you enjoyed your holiday at our cottage. We will be pleased to welcome you back in the future. Melanie. Property Owner

  • "We had a very relaxing week in this Manaton cottage."

Best Welcome pack ever as well as a few basics in the kitchen cupboard. Owner very willing to answer a couple of questions. The Kestor Inn, 250 steps away, served good reasonably priced fare - we enjoyed the Sunday carvery. Hoping to return soon if still an option! Good half day circular walk from here taking in Hound Tor, Kitty Jane's grave and the Bowerman's nose. Monthly market in the village hall selling excellent home made cake and bread.

Delighted that you enjoyed your stay & found everything you needed. It was a pleasure to speak to you, Clive & I hope I was able to resolve your queries. Would be delighted to welcome you back. Property Owner

Warm shower room downstairs great for drying boots, coats and leads after long walks. Bed very comfortable, lovely views from upstairs. Local pub, short walk, friendly, good food at reasonable prices.

  • "We had another lovely stay at the cottage."

We took advantage of the log burner which was very welcome at this time of year. The location works well for us as there are moors, tors , woodland and rivers all within walling distance and lots a short drive away too. The local pub is an added bonus.

So pleased you had yet another happy stay at our cottage. Will be delighted to welcome you back again. It’s always rewarding to know our guests enjoy the cottage, facilities & location. Melanie Property Owner

  • "This is a beautiful cosy cottage which the owner has generously equipped with everything you could possibly need or want."

Parking is easy and there is a friendly inn just down the road with a very good menu. We were two couples celebrating our Golden Wedding anniversaries and would definitely stay there again.

Thank you for your positive feedback. We are always delighted when our guests enjoy the cottage as much as we do, so pleased you had a good time. Melanie. Property Owner
