Description

This detached cottage converted from a Victorian barn is situated on a large beef and sheep farm just over a mile from the Devon village of Drewsteignton which offers it own local pub which is community owned and run.

With an upside down layout, it is an exceptionally peaceful place to relax and enjoy the peace and unpolluted night skies.

Steps from the garden take you into the open plan oak-floored living space, light and airy with seating area with wood burning stove, dining area and kitchen.

Stairs lead you down to the two en suite bedrooms and a useful space for leaving coats and boots after lovely countryside walks.

The enclosed garden is a great spot to chill out and gaze at long rural views to Dartmoor whilst you cook on the barbecue and eat alfresco.

You will have worked up an appetite by walking the fields or perhaps going a little further afield to the open spaces of Dartmoor.

You are welcome to bring your rods to fish for carp in the small farm pond.

Surrounded by spectacular scenery and with the little town of Chagford and Exeter city within easy reach, Bowbeer Barn is a great central spot for exploring Devon.

Lovely cottage in the midst of a farm.

Great position for visiting the moors and lovely NT walks. Local pubs served good food. Was really nice to have a cream tea waiting for us when we arrived.

We have had the most peaceful and relaxing week with out 2 dogs and my mom.

Beautiful barn and the owners had thought of everything and more!….we were so overwhelmed that we were left a homemade cream tea, a jug of fresh milk and 6 fresh eggs from the farm. Extremely comfortable beds and lovely showers in both rooms. we were greeted by their 4 beautiful collie dogs ( one looks like it’s had a row with a tractor

Bowbeer Barn is a wonderfully renovated cottage.

We both loved the upside down layout. A large lounge/diner upstairs, which was very comfortable. Plus a good sized wall mounted tv, especially as the football World Cup was on during our stay ! The downstairs bedrooms were a godsend because the 2 weeks we were there was heatwave time! The bedrooms were so cool at night. Bowbeer Barn is on a working farm, right next to the farmhouse. This was ideal for my wife as she was born on a farm and it bought back so many memories of her childhood. Harvesting, cows etc, plus the 3 lovely dogs who always came to greet us when we returned. They were so so friendly. Jackie was always around should we have had any problems but it was all trouble free. Bowbeer Barn is well situated for days out. I really enjoyed Dartmoor Prison Museum and Dartington Crystal factory. My wife enjoyed Trago Mills, a very large retail outlet that sells everything from A to Z, I ended up buying a bird table! Driving over Dartmoor was great, especially seeing the ponies. Close to seaside towns on both coastlines and plenty of places to have lunch and evening meals in the area. We could not find fault with anything. Thank you Jackie, your family and everyone on the farm.
