  • "Stayed here mid September for a week with my sister."

We had a lovely week as we booked the house as our Grand parents lived here in the 1970s . The house has been rebuilt since then and provides beautiful accommodation with the stunning views we both remembered! We spent the week visiting our favourite haunts including Dartmouth Castle, Blackpool Sands, and travelling on the steam train. I’d forgotten how steep and narrow the roads were but after the initial shock we got used to them and having a garage was an absolute bonus! Hopefully we will back again soon

  • "The property was advertised having a garage parking space for an average car but our average car only just fitted in and the driver could not then get out of the car."

The house was situated on a very steep narrow road with double yellow lines so parking was always a problem. The house was well resourced and comfortable but needed an overall good clean as some areas were grubby. The views from the terrace were superb. Maggie x

Thank you for your feedback which is not quite accurate as the garage is an average size and most drivers with medium size car have no problems with it---Above Town is Not a steep road it is quite flat---the road from the town centre is steep in parts---Unfortunately Dartmouth does have a parking problem and double yellows everywhere ---so a garage is a real plus---will look into the cleaning Property Owner

  • "We enjoyed a great week at Easter with family and friends and this house was perfect for us."

We have stayed there a couple of times before and the recent upgrades have certainly made a great difference and the facilities are to be expected for a house of this stature. The view however, is still the same, absolutely stunning!! Just to balance some previous feedback re the garage, I can say that we had no issues. It is directly opposite the house - which is definitely a bonus for Dartmouth - and is the size of most single garages you will find in this country. We have already booked a return visit and are looking forward to enjoying the comforts of this house.

  • "We stayed there over Easter with family and young children and we had a lovely stay."

We have enjoyed many different visits to Dartmouth over the years and stayed in this house before and we can tell they have upgraded and improved consistently. The most obviously difference for me was the light and the view with the new windows and doors make a huge impact. Anything to get more of that magical view is worth having in my book! The glass balcony is my favourite spot and one difficult to beat anywhere in Dartmouth with that panoramic vantage point. On a practical note, the garage is an amazing advantage but not for all car sizes. We just squeezed our Land Rover discovery in there, but would probably take a smaller car next time. • "All windows were disappointingly dirty."

The Master bed sash window is held up with 2x1 Timber and can’t be used. The beds are very small for doubles. it would be possible to sacrifice the bedside tables for small wall mounted shelves. The pillows require replacement urgently. The sofa would benefit from some more scatter cushions. The accommodation lacks luxury which is a shame as it’s a great house.

Many thanks for taking the time to leave your feedback. We can only apologies that you encountered the issues you mention. Please know if you had made us aware of any matters during your stay we would have done our best to rectify them immediately. I am pleased to confirm that all the windows have now been replaced along with a new sofa and soft furnishings. We do hope you still have a lovely holiday and look forward to welcoming you back to the area soon. Property Owner

Ie milk,a loaf. Also only 1 loo roll in each bathroom. We have been to lots of holiday lets and 9 times out of 10 there is a welcome pack.Plus it was not a cheap place to stay.On the plus side the views are great.

  • "Overall we had a great stay."

The house is lovely and had everything we could possibly need. The views are stunning and Dartmouth was picturesque. My advice to potential customers is that the hill up to the property is very steep! My car did struggle a bit so we ended up using the park and ride which was no bother at all. My legs however did ache for the first couple of days! Thanks for a great stay, the whole family loved it.

  • "The position of the house was excellent and generally everything was as expected."

The only thing that needs to be addressed is simple cleanliness. The glasses that were available in the kitchen (although they had been put through the dishwasher many many times) were filthy and unusable. We washed a few for our use in the sink which took moments to do and were clean to use but the rest were awful. There was also thick dust along the skirting boards in most rooms. Other than these simple issues the house was very good.

Many thanks for taking the time to leave your feedback. We are thrilled that you loved the position of the house. We can only apologise about glasses condition; we do rely on guests to put them away clean but we will pass on your comments to the cleaner so these can be addressed. We do hope you had and enjoyable stay and hope to welcome you back to the area soon. Property Owner

  • "Kitchen/diner was very nice."

Cupboards too FULL of STUFF - not required, too many glasses, dishes, oven ware, no room to put own food etc. This has been mentioned on other people's feedback, needs addressing. Balcony & furniture very nice. Lounge furniture - OLD & WORN, not enough room to seat 6 adults, not comfortable and only seats 3. Bedrooms - both double mattresses need replacing. Shared bathroom has a very strange smell, shouldn't have a carpet on the floor. Too many different instructions about bedding and rubbish. There was only 1 medium bath towel and 1 hand towel each. Expected better for the price of £1500.

  • "Without doubt the best thing about this property is the views, absolutely stunning."

The house is set out over 4 floors (if you include the patio), with pretty much everything you will need inside. Before arriving we were concerned about the parking/garage situation (having read previous reviews) however we managed to get a Range Rover in the garage which was tight but at least your guaranteed a parking spot (believe me there like gold dust in Dartmouth). As the address would suggest the house is high up ‘Above Town’ so be prepared to wear sensible footwear!! As much as we enjoyed our stay, there were a few negatives, The cleanliness of the utensils, plates, glasses & cutlery wasn’t good. The freezer doesn’t work properly, there is a sign on the freezer warning to ensure the door is shut but even then it didn’t work well. The mattresses on the two double bedroom need replacing. Don’t want to come across as too negative as on the whole we really did enjoy our time there however for £400 per night I would expect these things to be in order

  • "Great location, fabulous views, however for the price, some of the fixtures and fittings are very tired, and rather old."

The whole property would benefit from new external doors and windows, as the weather has clearly taken it's toll over the years. It would also reduce the gull noise, as they squark more or less all night, and their dawn chorus starts at 3.30am or 4 am (In Summer) The garage is very tight for an SUV, although it'd be more or less ok for a VW golf sized car. It would be relatively inexpensive to move the door system to a roller system, or to move the up and over mountings to the internal wall, as this would widen the aperture by around 6" in total, and that would at least maximise its potential.

G only items used on a regular basis been cleaned these would have been used by previous occupants, cups sauces and plates other items in cupboard still dusty * en-suite room curtains had marks on them and also marks on lampshades, no blinds or lace at windows, had to shut curtains whilst in room as neighbours and builders could see in * lounge orniments very dusty and balcony not been cleaned for quite a while, as well as the glass around the balcony, outside furniture needed repair * patio door, there was a note in lounge saying to be careful with patio door as piece loose ( would this have been easier to mend rather than have to keep pushing back into place to secure the door * as per your review the property is tired and requires painting and updating, the photos of the property are not a true representation of the actual property * various double glazed units is windows and door have broken down so cannot see through them * planters on balcony only got weeds in them, no where to hang out wet clothing or towels * no coat hangers in any of the wardrobes * property smelt musty as there was a humidifier in the lounge and was on when we arrived * we were led to believe that all property had to be COVID safe before they were occupied/ before change of client, we found it necessary to sanitize all areas before use * we were disappointed by the standards of this property as came to you through your reputation and believe that this is managed by a third party * please acknowledge my comments and forward me feedback on any improvements you have made to manage this situation

  • "What an amazing view!"

Quite possibly the best view of any holiday cottage I've ever stayed in. We spent hours just watching the world go by. The property was clean with good facilities. I'd certainly stay there again. A few of minor points. While the kitchen had plenty of storage space it was filled with rather too many glasses and too much crockery leaving little space for our food. The roads to get to Above Town are steep and narrow, this is very much part of the charm of Dartmouth. Be prepared to reverse and liaise with other divers! I found I was able to get my car (Skoda Octavia estate) in the garage, through it was a tight fit. It would have been useful to have had a key for the garage in order to lock our bikes inside. Finally the instructions for where to leave the rubbish were a bit contradictory. I spoke to the contractor collecting it and he expected to find it in a black bag in the garage (there was no seagull sack).

They have far more crockery, cutlery, pots and pans and glasses than they need which overfills every cupboard in the kitchen. Other than that all great! We wouldould book again in the future

  • "The villa was not quite the standard expected, could have been cleaner."

The views were excellent. The climb up to the house was very steep and the garage was to small for our car leaving us with the pain of constantly looking for a parking space. There were workmen outside from 8am leaving it impossible to get the car up the hill to pick up my elderly parent. Not ideal.
