"It was our third stay and it has always been excellent."
The combination of it's very central location together with kitchen, lounge and dining on the top floor, with wide view of the town and harbour, make it very appealing.
All of the facilities are excellent, as you would expect.
Great to welcome you back for a 3rd time Chris and family and so pleased you had glorious sunshine. Thanks for the lovely review.

"The Hideaway is an unusual upside down property so there are some lovely views from the open plan living area on the top floor."
There is plenty of comfortable seating for dining/lounging for 6 people which our group was.
Coffee pods, milk pods, sugar & some tea were provided which was welcome.
The location is very close to the beach, Banjo Pier, shops & restaurants etc. nothing is more than a couple of minutes away and it’s despite its central location, it’s very quiet at night.
Everything you could possibly need is provided and as we were celebrating mine and my daughters birthdays whilst we were there, this was a huge bonus.
The beds were very comfortable with soft bed linens and lots of pillows which made for a good nights sleep.
Points to note:
The king size bedroom only has views of a wall from one window and the alleyway to the house & garbage bins from the other. One had a huge seagull poo splattered on it when we arrived so we kept that blind down.
The bedrooms on the first floor smelt slightly damp so we kept windows open in the day to air them. In the smallest twin room, the room was quite cold and smelt the worst.
In the upstairs open plan living area, one wall (behind the TV) was stained with damp.
The balcony and the fixed table on it were rusty & covered in seagull poo so we didn’t use it.
We’re aware Looe is a seaside town with lots of seagulls but it could have been clean/maintained better for guests.
Overall, it’s a lovely house to stay and we would recommend The Hideaway but the above points made it a 4/5 rather than a full 5/5.
Glad you enjoyed the birthday celebrations Kate and Harbour Hideaway's central location.
As the signs in the cottage explain, the nature of the seaside weather and the old stone cottage walls means that salt stains will come through the paint at this time of year and we treat/paint as often as possible plus have a dehumidifier in the twin room and a loft system to draw damp from the air when windows are closed.
As for the seagulls, there are many times I have cleaned the windows/balcony only for a seagull to undo the good work minutes later, especially at this time of year when they are mating and nesting. We ask the cleaners to check during changeover, but that is no guarantee which is why we leave kitchen roll and window cleaning and antibacterial sprays should guests wish to deal with the interim droppings. Any tips about a window spray that repels seagull mess welcome!
We have passed your comments on to our management company for any suggestions as to how you could have had a 5/5 experience and thank you for your constructive feedback as it helps us improve.
Thanks for your recommendation of our accommodation and hope to see you again!

"We've stayed at Harbour Hideaway once before and, since we visit Looe every couple of years, this is now our first choice for the future."
The very central location is so convenient to be flexible during the day and evening. The views from the top floor lounge, dining room, kitchen across the harbour is a great bonus.

"Slightly delayed review!"
I booked Harbour Hideaway as a very last minute few days away with my mum and kids last July. I was nervous as I knew there were steps involved which mum would find challenging, however the pictures and reviews looked good enough for me to chance it and I’m so glad I did.
The house is upside down, with a double bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor. Up the first flight of stairs to another double room and a room with two singles, along with a cloakroom. Finally up to the second floor for the open plan kitchen and living space, boasting a balcony with harbour views (hence the property name).
The whole place was beautifully decorated with a theme in keeping with the location. It was clean and well stocked with games, local leaflets and coffee. We were greeted before arrival with a text message from the owners with the front door key-box code and wishing us a pleasant stay, with their contact details should we have any issues. I contacted them with a couple of minor questions and received a prompt and comprehensive response - despite them being out of the country!
Harbour Hideaway is situated just off the waterfront, almost in the centre of town. 60 seconds from the front door and you are in the high street, surrounded by cafes and gift shops; the beach and Banjo Pier a few minutes down the road one way and a supermarket and pharmacy the other way. There is no parking at the accommodation, however you can stop nearby to unload the car and then there is a long stay car park at the front of town, a short walk away.
The weather was not kind to us, but we still managed to sit on the balcony with our morning tea, go for a walk along the pier, skim stones on the beach and catch fish and crabs along the harbour walls.
The only reason I wouldn’t recommend the beautiful Harbour Hideaway would be that I don’t want it full when I wish to book again!
Thanks for your lovely review. So glad you enjoyed your stay and managed to enjoy the balcony and all that Looe has to offer, despite the inclement weather. Hope that we see you again soon, maybe with better weather.

"The alleyway to the property needs a good clean."
Bins were not emptied when we arrived and the WiFi is poor on the top level.
I would put on the advert that the seaguls are unbearable day and night and that the pub is very load until 1am and the kids room is window is near this.
Lovely property
Glad you enjoyed the property.
We came down the day you left and agree the alleyway needed a ckean - the seagulls certainly are particularly active at the moment, dropping moss from the rooves into the alleyway which we have thoroughly cleaned. The local fishermen said they are excited by a glut of mackerel at the moment plus a good supply of pasties and chips.
It is a shame we were not aware about our contractor not having collected the rubbish as scheduled or the WiFi issue as we could have sorted these immediately - the WiFi booster had been disconnected and there is now a full signal throughout the house and the bins have been emptied and cleaned.
Glad to see from the visitors book that you enjoyed the house and many local attractions.

"Very clean fresh, light and airy cottage."
Really comfortable beds, well equipped.
The only slight downside was the dropping off of luggage, especially on a busy friday afternoon. The other slight criticism was that we were under the impression that there were 2 bathrooms, when in fact it was one toilet and sink and one shower room. ( with 6 adults wanting to shower ,we had a little wait) However the bathroom was a good size with a great shower. The cottage is very handy for the town. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed Caroline. You are right, the downside of being so central is luggage drop off but there is a luggage delivery service that can be pre booked that is on the joining instructions. Hope to see you again!

"Dont judge a book by the cover, the outside and small alleyway is misleading, but this leads into a
beautiful well mentaind three storey home, the guests comfort has been thought out and the fittings and equipment is to a very high standard, the building is situated in the heart of the village, so great to get to shops, Quay, pubs and restaurants, its very close to a pub and on a couple of occasions the singing from a band could be heard but it went quite from 23:00 so no big problem, the car park nearest the home is called Buller Quay this was very busy, my wife and I enjoyed our stay here very much and would recommend this property without hesitation."

Great location- walk out of the door and straight in the middle of all the shops, harbour, beach etc. Very well kept property, clean, tidy and modern. Big car park 0.5 miles away, if you are here for a week worth getting a weekly permit. Drop off of luggage was fine, could get close enough to property, just need one person to stay with car and another to handle luggage. Would recommend!

"This really is a hideaway but at the same time so central for everything in Looe."
The cottage was actually better than I thought it would be and it looked lovely on the website. Bright and very clean with beautiful views of the Harbour. Very tastefully decorated, loved the feature walls and the accessories from local gift shops. Everything you need, modern kitchen with dishwasher, coffee machine. Tea, coffee, sugar supplied. Dishwasher tabs, washing up liquid etc. Beds are comfortable, plenty of storage etc. lovely shops, pubs, restaurants, takeaways, 2 Coop stores all on your doorstep. Sarah’s pasty’s and Catch fish and chips highly recommend. Loads of useful info and advice in the cottage. The only downside is parking, definitely go in Millpool car park and get a weekly season ticket online, it’s about a 5-10 minute walk and follow instructions to get nearer the cottage for unloading luggage etc. on arrival/departure. Not a problem as such but just something to be aware of. Thank you for a wonderful week. We’ll be back.

"We had a fantastic weekend at Harbour Hideaway, the house is amazing and tastefully decorated."
Beds were very comfortable and room sizes were ideal. Looe has become a happy place for us, so it was lovely to see all the little pun signs on the walls spread around the house. The Christmas tree was a bonus, we wasn't expecting it at all and was a nice surprise, especially as we went to Fowey Christmas Market, it put us nicely in the Christmas mood.
We noticed some damp on the first floor of the propoerty in the bathroom and twin bedroom, nothing much but may get out of hand if it's not treated correctly.
The kitchen had everything we needed and was well equipped, the whole house is very well laid out.
The views are amazing, it was lovely to wake up and see the harbour and we drank our morning coffee on the balcony with great views of the river.
I loved the clock at the top of the stairs and it has inspired me to look for one myself, I also loved the painting of 'Looe Lovers' by the dining table, I'm on the hunt to find the print from the local artist.
As ever, there is always something to do in Looe, we walked on the beach and on Banjo Pier, had a coffee overlooking St George's Island from Hannafore and we drove to Tannd Bay and Lantic Bay.
We look forward to coming back and thank you for a wonderful stay at Harbour Hideaway.
PS. If you know where I could source the print 'Looe Lovers' - please let me know!!!
