4 West Park Mews

We were a family of 3 adults and stayed for 3 nights.

Although there are a few minor defects this didn’t spoil the enjoyment of our stay. The property was perfectly located for trips to Kingsbridge and Salcombe. Good to have an allocated parking space. We used the country lane/path to walk down to the Cove for access to the beaches, shops, cafes and pub/hotel. There is a bench halfway down for a rest particularly coming back up. There was also a car park if a drive is preferred.

A really well situated property once you have negotiated the narrow Devon lanes.

Parking space is perfect. On approach the front garden/ patio has not been attended for some time. The gate drags the floor and weeds are prevalent in the slabs. The Hedge is unkept and the garden fencing needs painting. A shame as it could be a nice place to spend time. The property is nicely presented although there was a strange damp like smell just inside the front door. The efforts to disguise this with airfresheners didn’t work. The Lounge and Kitchen areas work perfectly. The sofa and arm chairs are a little tired looking but function ok. The Floor in the kitchen has a real problem. It’s soft and moves underfoot with every step… a real safety concern. The lovely weather meant we kept the windows largely open and we kept the place cool. Unfortunately many of the window catches were broken. Overall a good stay… but not up to the standard expected or described. It could have been so much better with just a little attention. We were quite disappointed.

Hope Cove is a lovely place, with some great places to eat. All dealings with the Salcombe office with pre holiday enquires were friendly and professional too. We hope to be back soon

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at 4 West Park.

We have stayed around Hope Cove for 25 years and found our accommodation as good as if not better than anything we have stayed at previously. Location terrific with allocated parking which is huge bonus at Hope Cove. The accommodation was extremely clean, well equipped, tastefully updated and the beds comfortable. Great outside space to enjoy breakfast or a glass of something in the evening. We certainly will be returning next year. Thank you.

We had a wonderful holiday.

Hope cove is a beautiful area with plenty to do without having to get in the car. Gorgeous beaches , coves and coastal walking on the door step. Our teenage granddaughter was with us and enjoyed the beaches particularly. We swam in the sea at Thurlestone.The cottage had everything we needed. The twin bed room was down stairs which was great for our granddaughter but may not be suitable for younger children.

The Mews cottage was absolutely lovely.

Beautiful and location lovely, however.

. 1) very cold. Nobody can predict English weather but woefully insufficient heating in the open plan room for winter breaks. 2) no relevant radiator operating instructions. What there was related to different heaters. 3) photos show a coffee maker. In the property this no longer existed, replaced by a Nespresso machine but then no pods in the property. 4) maintenance work at neighbouring property hugely disruptive early morning.

The property was warm and welcoming, plus having some Xmas goodies on arrival was such a nice bonus. The kitchen was well equipped and everything was clean and tidy. Great location too, being a very short walk to 2 lovely beaches. Staff at the nearby office were fantastic to deal with too. We'll be back soon we hope.

Third time we have stayed at West Park Mews which says it all.

Clean, comfortable and well equipped. Near to beach and pub. Love Hope Cove and we will be back.

We loved our stay at 4 West park mews, and feel sad having to lower our score.

There was just a couple of issues this time . The shower had to be replaced , also the bottom sheet is too small for the bed . This was constantly coming off. Plus the tap in the kitchen dripping constantly. Also the sound of mice under the step leading through French door onto balcony. The location, cleanliness are outstanding. We stayed here 2 years ago and truly love the place and would like to return if the few minor issues are solved Kind regards Nadine

Enjoyable stay in cosy cottage.

Loved the upstairs terrace for breakfast , We were very lucky with the weather! Great location with pubs and beach nearby. Main problem was being unable to contact owners. The office number provided failed to respond We rang on 5 diferent occasions to report issues. Some of the kitchen utensils need to be replaced. Two of the three frying pans are rusty and unusable. The bottom sheet on the double bed was too small and uncomfortable . Only one and a half toilet rolls were provided fot three people for a week.Otherwise a good place to stay.

The property was a lovely place to stay everything you needed you make your stay enjoyable.

We were in the area for my daughter's wedding.

The accommodation we had booked a year ago in Kingsbridge aren't became unavailable 20 minutes before travelling down from High Wycombe on the day of the wedding! The Airbnb owners were able to find this while we were travelling! It was perfect for us in every way, with the highlight of Hope Cove a very short walk away.

It was very clean and great to have your own parking space , about a 10/15 minute walk to the beach. Would recommend.

We have been to this mews cottage several times over the last 10/12 years (Not during covid) and never been disappointed.

We know it well and whilst ‘senior management’ has not been too well over the last few years she said earlier this year that she would like me to book West Park so at least we had something to look forward to later on. Only one issue, it seems there is some problem with the plumbing, cistern in bath room only large button seems to operate it, and there appears to be an air lock in taps in kitchen sink. A soft long handled brush would be useful around the living area. We were blessed with good weather whilst there, which always helps

Perfect holiday home.

Only Downside for us was the childrens bedroom being downstairs, and I worried that I wouldn't hear them if they called in the night. Otherwise, perfect home from home , good location

This house was lovely, just as described, well equipped and we had a very comfortable 2 week stay.

Thoroughly enjoyed our short stay , we found the cottage to have everything we needed and would definitely consider staying there again.

The cottage has everything you need for a lovely holiday clean and very comfortable, great fenced patio if you have a dog and only a short walk to the cove. Thank you for another great week.

Property is attractively decorated and furnished A number of double glazing panels are blown’ and need replacing.

Development is generally tired and in need of renovation. Front garden to property is unkempt.

Great home from home!

Everything you needed for a relaxing week. Warm and cosy too. We just drove past the ‘yellow flats’ (looked cream to us) and didn’t realise we were near the top of the hill and drove to the Cove itself. But a kind local pointed us in the right direction so all good in the end. It was raining so visually impaired! But perhaps tweek the directions. Thank you for a lovely stay though

Great location, calm and quiet surroundings, short easy convenient walk to the nearby beach

The apartment was lovely, spacious clean and well equipped.

The front garden was fenced in and very safe for our dog which is a bonus and only 5minute walk to beaches. Hope cove is beautiful with lots of cliff walks with amazing views.

An enjoyable stay, the property was very well decorated and close to the beach, the upstairs double bedroom is a bit snug although the downstairs bedroom is very spacious with lots of storage.

A nice small welcome pack, note that if you want to use the Nespresso machine you will need to take your own coffee pods. Venetian blinds would be helpful at the windows as you are over looked by the neighbouring properties. Lovely to have a balcony and front garden to use.

We had another great week celebrating Christmas at 4 West Park Mews - Big THANK YOU to the owner for providing us with a Christmas tree and the lovely hamper, which was really appreciated.

Thank you to the local staff at the Coast & Country office too, who were great at answering our various queries.

4 West Park Mews was a light and airy maisonette.

Good appliances, big fridge freezer, big dishwasher, easy to work cooker. I sat out on the balcony for coffee a lot and it was a lovely view with a glimpse of the sea. Easy parking and walk to Hope Cove and Coastal Path. Had a great fish lunch at Lobster Pod, fortunate to have a sunny day as views were amazing.

The duvets, pillows and covers very tired and need replacing.

The apartment was just like the pictures.

A well equipped kitchen with plentiful cutlery and glasses. The main bedroom was quite small and anyone with walking difficulties may find it difficult to walk past the bottom of the bed. Superficially clean inside if you didn’t move things. I mopped the floor and the second day we were there and the water was black. Not too sure if toilet rolls are in short supply in Devon but we were a bit surprised only to have a part used one to last four people for one week. We bought are own. Perhaps that information should be in the property details. The terrace and balcony were filthy. Full of cobwebs and dirt. I guess there is insufficient time to do more, but it does not give a great impression. I note that the cost of this property is increasing by nearly 85% for August next year and wonder if it is worth that. Other properties in the same block and estate are far less for the same time. If this was a school report it may read can do better.

We loved our stay.

It's a great property in a lovely coastal village, with everything you need. Easy walk to Cove, and Thurlestone Beach is lovely and walkable, dog friendly with a great end of day bar. We would have used a BBQ if one had been there, so that's the only reason we said 5 stars. Would be delighted to stay again.

The fridge leaks a huge puddle of water into the floor overnight.

The hairdryer overheats and cuts out before you’ve finished drying your hair. The lights on the balcony don’t work. The bulb in the light next to the bathroom has blown. The bin bags supplied are for a pedal bin not a swing bin so they’re useless. The details could say ‘washing line provided but bring your own pegs’ as no pegs is really annoying.

Comfortable, well equipped accommodation situated in a convenient position for beach, cliff path & village.

We enjoyed our stay in Hope Cove & would return. Previous occupants had left a couple of cracked / dirty glasses in cupboard and we did notice clothes moths around.

Not happy with the reminders to leave cottage as you found it, that’s why they are clean because you put pressure on people to do the cleaners job , surely we are paying for this in the price and it spoils the last days of otherwise relaxing holiday

Excellent location, very comfortable and well equipped cottage.

Lovely sunny balcony. Warm and easy to operate heating. Toilet flush needs seeing to- half flush not working. Lovely few days exploring south Devon with easy access directly onto SWCP. Fab cafe at South Milton: Beachhouse cafe: good food, lovely staff.

What a great place to spend Christmas!

4 West Park Mews had everything we needed, and being in Hope Cove was brilliant. The beach and coast path are on the doorstep, and Inner Hope is a great place to watch the spectacular sunsets. Thank you - we had a lovely holiday.

The key code provided was incorrect.

Had to drive to get a phone signal to ring and even then no one was sure what the correct code was. It was dark and difficult to gain entry. Some oven gloves would be useful One heater was not working Otherwise a smart little two bedroom 'cottage' with most conveniences supplied

The accommodation was spotlessly clean on arrival.

Very spacious open plan lounge and kitchen area. Comfortable and warm to enjoy evenings in during a very wet and windy few days. Perfectly situated, only a 5 minute walk to the beach and the village. Would definitely book again.

Sykes is excellent and the cottage was in great condition and very well equipped.

The cleanliness of the property was below the standard that I expect. Dirty kitchen utensils and cobwebs all round the cottage. Couldn't get one of the heaters working and wasn't comfortably warm enough. I hope my criticism isn't too harsh because we did enjoy our stay and would definitely book with Sykes again, but if I was the owner I'd want to know that the cleaning is letting it down.

This year was our 2nd stay at 4 West Mews and we’ll be back next year!

Lovely cottage, perfect location.

We were disappointed with the cleanliness of the flat.

Given extra time is allocated to cleaning due to Covid-19 the flat was not clean. When we arrived we decided to disinfect amd bleach the main “touch/contact” areas for our own peace of mind. The light switches and door handles had obviously not been disinfected or cleaned as they were very grubby. We disinfected and bleached the bannister which is in the main entrance area and it was black - obviously had not been cleaned to this standard for a very long time. Again we cleaned all of the touch areas in the kitchen area - it was obvious the handles, taps and apparatus in the kitchen had not had a deep clean either. In the bedroom the bedside tables were not clean and the bed headboard was thick with dust and hand marks. In times of Covid we would have thought basic contact areas would have been a priority for cleanliness so customers have some confidence when staying in your properties. Given that you clearly stated extra cleaning time is now allocated we felt very disappointed and uncomfortable and would find it difficult to book with you again at the moment.

We had a lovely week in Hope Cover and 4 West Park Mews was the perfect place to stay.

The facilities were excellent and we didn't want for anything. Would definitely return, Thank you.

Had a wonderful holiday in hope Cove.

Have been going here for the past 4 years and it is is just breathtaking. The cottage was conveniently situated with just a short walk to the cove beach and bar and easy access to the coastal paths taking you to thurlstone, south milsom, batham, salcombe. Cottage has everything needed for a lovely break. The only suggestion we would make is a need for a side table by the two seater sofa so there is somewhere u can put your drink that has easy access. Cottage was very comfortable and clean and have no complaints. One complaint but (has nothing to do with the cottage) was other residents in the west park mews or west park flats that had dogs, clearly didn’t pick up the dogs poo appropriately and a number of times I would find a bag of dog poo in the courtyard/front garden of our cottage which was just out of order. I have a dog myself that is well behaved so I am annoyed that someone else felt the need to do this and not dispose of there own dog poo appropriately and leaving me to have to clear it away for fear of being penalised by the cottage letting agents As they would believe it was us that had did this as it was on our cottage area.

The grill is not working and the remote control for the DVD player needs batteries.

These comments are just to help the owners correct faults and did not affect our enjoyment of the cottage.

4 West Park Mews is a very comfortable cottage, although a little further from the beach than we were anticipating.

One recommendation would be to have coat pegs inside the entrance door for your outdoor coats instead of having to take them off upstairs. We would definitely go back to the cottage

Lovely accommodation with everything we needed for our stay. Hope Cove is beautiful. Central to lots of walks and Salcombe is a must.

Great coachouse style property. Parking right outside the door and the terrace over the garage is perfect for summer dinning.

A fabulous well equipped and welcoming cottage.

Lovely front garden and upstairs decking leading from the kitchen - always somewhere to sit in the sun! Super to have an allocated parking space. Well equipped and a welcome bonus to have Wifi.

Very good location & lovely area of Devon. Mews cottage very well supplied with everything needed to make your stay comfortable.

Ground floor twin bedded room had a musty smell, would not have been happy had we had to use this room other than for storage (suitcases etc); Very noisy bathroom fan. Asked to strip the bedding before we left - unbelievable, we paid to stay not to help prepare rooms for next users).

Great location in Hope Cove. Just the two of us staying in the accommodation and it was a perfect size. Only negative was the cleanliness. Although the kitchen was clean, the floors throughout had not been vacuumed. Bits all over. Not very pleasant. So I vacuumed it myself and it looked much better.

The apartment was well equipped and clean tThere were a number of conditions which were not made clear on booking. Certainly I see little reason for a £50 fee for having a dog with me when the dog was prohibited from most areas. As mentioned in hte visitors' book by a previous tenant, the apartments opposite were very close and we felt overlooked in hte bedroom as there ware no blinds.

There were some small extras that made such a difference and which were provided new; hand wash, toilet rolls, dish wash tablets, tea towel, j cloth, sponge scourer. The linen and towels provided were fresh and well presented. Where we usually stay we have to provide our own and this made us realise how convenient it was to have for us.
