  • "Such wonderful owners to begin with!"

A joyous welcome chat and many other chats afterwards, it makes a big difference and really made us feel more like visiting friends rather than host and customer! The garden is something else!- Its like having your own parkland to use. The property was comfortable in so many ways- we needed for nothing. In particular, i will rave about the beds the beds and bedding- absolutely top class!! Such gems are a rare find that I suppose I should keep to ourselves hoping that we may be able to get in again once everyone else discovers this absolute delight of a cottage. Thanks again Geoff & Carole- it was a privilige meeting you and enjoying your wonderful property.

  • "This is the best accommodation we’ve had the pleasure of staying in."

Beautifully clean, quality modern decor with lovely homely touches such as throws, ornaments and best of all a room full of toys for our 4 year old (allowing us some much needed r&r!). The barn is a car drive away from lots of nice places to visit. We loved driving back to the peace and tranquility of the barn each day, often with a food shop so we could stay in and eat rather than go out - the barn was too comfy not to spend time there! We will definitely be returning - it felt like home from home.

  • "We've had a second wonderful Christmas at Cross Syke Barn - the cottage is very cosy and was lovingly decorated by the owners."

The flowers and brownies were a special treat. The barn is located brilliantly for exploring North Devon and its many beaches and coastal walks. The December weather wasn't brilliant, but the many board games, dvds and toys kept us all entertained and the fully equipped kitchen was great for cooking Christmas meals - fully recommended!

We especially enjoyed the garden and boating on the owners lake. This is an observation and not a criticism at all - it would have been nice to have had a long handle broom to sweep the kitchen floor.

Easy drive to the to the coast & National Trust properties. As it is in a rural location (which we like), there wasn't any road noise and the only things to wake us were the birds singing. Geoff & Carole were very welcoming and the brownies were amazing. We would definitely stay again :-)

We had a fantastic time at this lovely, spacious, comfortable and well equipped cottage. The attention to detail in providing the best experience is evident through your the barn, and Carole and Geoff are so lovely. The highlight of Cross Syke Bar is the stunning garden with its own stream and the unique lake with a boat. Our 11 years old son had a fantastic time rowing around the little island every day. There is lots of great things to do as a family around d this stunning part of Devon and we were blessed by the sunny weather, specially at this time of year. We would definitely come back.

  • "Cross Skye Barn was a wonderful place to have our family Christmas."

It was lovingly decorated with little touches by the owners and was cosy, clean and `comfortable. The wood burning stove was especially lovely, as were the well-equipped kitchen and comfortable beds. The owners have done a fabulous job in creating a both tasteful and practical space. The games, lego, train tracks etc were a big bonus for our two children (7 & 5) on the rainy days. The grounds of the cottage are beautiful and feature both a river and a lake. Finally, the location is a great launch pad for exploring the beautiful North Devon countryside - beaches, coastal walks and lovely pubs are only a short drive away. We'd love to come back!

  • "Had a wonderful time at Syke Barn, not too far out from Barnstaple in a tranquil part of Devon."

The barn was immaculate and furnished beautifully. Great countryside where you could see trees and hills around you. We even saw sheep outside our windows. Though it was cold and rainy outside there was enough to do inside for all ages. All types of games were available as well as space to play football and bat and ball. Lived the electric train set and Lego. The wifi really helped with the teenager's need to stay in touch with friends. The kitchen was well equipped we even cooked a roast one evening. The log fire was really cosy in the evening. The bedrooms were all reasonably sized and far enough apart that there was space for the 6 of us. Just be careful if you have a teenager they can use up the hot water! Glad it only happened once. We enjoyed trying out Alexa! to get the weather and listen to music. It was easy to get around with trips to Barnstaple, Woolacombe, Morton Hoe and Arlington Court. Tesco also delivered to the house which really helped. The owners were lovely and left us an amazing lemon cake. Definitely felt spoilt, they were on hand but left us to ourselves. Couldn't ask for more and catered for our different age range.
