  • "Had a wonderful stay at the very comfortable, well equipped and furnished Cross Syke Barn."

Were welcomed by the owners who kindly provided delicious homemade brownies and flowers. Nice to have a pint of milk left in the fridge to greet us too! The location is so peaceful and relaxing and there is a stream nearby plus beautiful gardens with a lake. Very easy to get to Exmoor and the beaches at Woolacombe and Croyde plus the lovely village of Clovelly too. Would thoroughly recommend and will definitely return!

The cottage was very quiet and we all slept well all week. Lots to see and do in the local area and the cottage was in a good location to get out to the coast, for example Croyde; Ilfracombe; Woolacombe. Highly recommended.

Cross Skye Barn was clean, well equipped and the location was idyllic, we even had a go at rowing on the small lake/pond in the gorgeous grounds of the house- amazing! The welcome card, fresh flowers and homemade Brownies was a lovely touch, it definitely made us feel welcome. Thank you to Carole & Geoff, we hope to return to Cross Syke Barn in the future. • "The most beautiful stay at Cross Skye Barn."

It was the most beautiful stay I think I have ever been too. The Barn offered us so much space and was very light and bright with the most comfiest beds and facilities. But the best part of our stay was the outdoor garden space. It has the most amazing space at the back and to wake up to the sound of the stream passing by was heavenly. A great escape from busy lives and lots to explore around in surrounding areas. We will defiantly be back to lovely Geoff and Carole whom were the best hosts and the brownies were an added bonus.

  • "A great barn staycation."

It definitely had the wow factor when walking in for the first time, the big open plan ground floor with a log burner is what we needed for our half term getaway, our boy loved all the toys he found in the bunk bed room. The garden and lake was lovely. The only minors were the front entrance to the property is very tight, I had to reverse my VW transporter on to the drive so I didn’t hit the wall. But other than that it was great

Thank you for your comments, we’re very pleased that you enjoyed your stay. We are currently working to improve the access to the barn so that it is easier for larger than average vehicles to drive in. Hope to see you again in the future Property Owner

A joyous welcome chat and many other chats afterwards, it makes a big difference and really made us feel more like visiting friends rather than host and customer! The garden is something else!- Its like having your own parkland to use. The property was comfortable in so many ways- we needed for nothing. In particular, i will rave about the beds the beds and bedding- absolutely top class!! Such gems are a rare find that I suppose I should keep to ourselves hoping that we may be able to get in again once everyone else discovers this absolute delight of a cottage. Thanks again Geoff & Carole- it was a privilige meeting you and enjoying your wonderful property.

  • "This is the best accommodation we’ve had the pleasure of staying in."

Beautifully clean, quality modern decor with lovely homely touches such as throws, ornaments and best of all a room full of toys for our 4 year old (allowing us some much needed r&r!). The barn is a car drive away from lots of nice places to visit. We loved driving back to the peace and tranquility of the barn each day, often with a food shop so we could stay in and eat rather than go out - the barn was too comfy not to spend time there! We will definitely be returning - it felt like home from home.

  • "Had a wonderful time at Syke Barn, not too far out from Barnstaple in a tranquil part of Devon."

The barn was immaculate and furnished beautifully. Great countryside where you could see trees and hills around you. We even saw sheep outside our windows. Though it was cold and rainy outside there was enough to do inside for all ages. All types of games were available as well as space to play football and bat and ball. Lived the electric train set and Lego. The wifi really helped with the teenager's need to stay in touch with friends. The kitchen was well equipped we even cooked a roast one evening. The log fire was really cosy in the evening. The bedrooms were all reasonably sized and far enough apart that there was space for the 6 of us. Just be careful if you have a teenager they can use up the hot water! Glad it only happened once. We enjoyed trying out Alexa! to get the weather and listen to music. It was easy to get around with trips to Barnstaple, Woolacombe, Morton Hoe and Arlington Court. Tesco also delivered to the house which really helped. The owners were lovely and left us an amazing lemon cake. Definitely felt spoilt, they were on hand but left us to ourselves. Couldn't ask for more and catered for our different age range.
