A lovely little cottage with beautiful views across the moors.

We thoroughly enjoyedour stay here in spite of the bad weather!Could do with a new sofa, but otherwise very comfortable.

This is a delightful Dartmoor character property, very well set up and maintained.

We only had time for a very short 2 night Break, but it provided an excellent base from which to explore this corner of the moor. Miss West was very kind and helpful. The West side of the Dart valley is much less crowded than the Ashburton/Princetown road, and Hexworthy Bridge is a great place for some gentle wild swimming. Many Thanks.

Great owners that respected our privacy and never interfered , but we're there if we needed anything. Was a good welcome to find cake and tea and milk on arrival, thankyou

This cottage is a hidden gem.

Just a few yards off Dartmoor, tucked away at the end of a farm lane it is a peaceful, calm retreat with outstanding views across the valley. Our hostess, Margaret, was friendly and welcoming and the cottage itself was cosy and warm. We wouldn't hesitate to book again.

Lovely barn conversion, well equipped and great views.

On the edge of the moors so open access walking just up the drive. Couple of minor issues. The shower was poor and the headroom in the bathroom restricted. Village community shop, but quite expensive, and a pub in village. Both an uphill walk of approaching a mile.

The property itself was lovely, the location stunning and the hosts were great.

However there were many problems with the cottage. The bed was extremely uncomfortable with no support in the middle. I had to roll up the spare quilt and put it under the mattress to stop ourselves rolling into the middle. There was no shower and not enough hot water for a decent bath. The floorboards in the bedroom, landing and stairs creaked loudly so that if one of us got up it always woke the other. The 2 single beds were damp, the walls mouldy and the wardrobe unusable because of the damp smell. The sofas were sooo uncomfortable . The kitchen not really fit for purpose ie, limited cupboard space, cooker had such low pressure it took an age to cook anything. The conservatory leaked. No view of the garden or countryside from the outside space. In general the cottage was tired and in need of updating. Not a place I will be going back to.

Linhay is a beautifully converted building - I particulary loved the mezzanine bedroom.

Very comfortable, well-equipped and lovingly maintained. The view from the main bedroom is just beautiful, and we loved the remote location and the great local village and community shop. The sunny conservatory and private yard was very attractive.The host, Margaret Weeks, was friendly, helpful and welcoming and close on hand if any problem were to arise ( we had none!). The location might be a bit of a challenge for nervous drivers - quite steep hills, narrow bridges and high-hedged lanes are the norm in this vicinity - we just loved the relatively remoteness. Wonderful immediate access to the moor - literally outside the entrance gate.

Host was welcoming, friendly and pleasant to speak with. Would have been nice to have a shower but am totally aware of limitations of the buildings. As bigger built people , the king bed mattress is showing wear in the respect that we rolled together, but for all that it was cosy and comfortable. We had a lovely quiet relaxing time, thank you.

We loved being here before, and coming back was never in doubt.

Delighted to be back in lovely Holne, and Margaret is a perfect landlady and neighbour. Already looking forward to the next time!

The cottage was very quiet and peaceful, with a private courtyard garden to relax in.

The directions were perfect and the greeting of tea and cake was a very touching gesture. Very convenient for accessing the moor. The perfect holiday spot

Mobile phone reception is fine, but I could do with an Internet connection for my laptop.

A wonderful cottage, one of the best we’ve stayed at.

Piping hot water, a very cosy log burner, and very comfortable beds - everything we needed for an enjoyable holiday. The location right on the moor is perfect for walking and cycling and watching the birds in the garden was a treat. Margaret made sure we had everything we needed and left us a very welcome cake. A perfect cottage to enjoy the moor.

Lovely little cottage in a beautiful setting on Dartmoor.

Views are stunning and there is a lovely tree bird station where a variety of birds feast daily. Log burner in the lounge made for cosy, comfy evenings after days on the moor. Cake and tea set out ready was a welcoming touch after the long drive. Perfect as a romantic retreat or for writer's/artists/photographers or other freelance travellers.

Another lovely visit .

Boiler broke whilst we were there but Ms West went out of her away to apologise and even paid for an evening meal by way of good will gesture which wasn’t needed but gratefully received! Even with the boiler issue we still had a lovely time and we appreciate Ms West’s kindness. Can’t wait to return in October.

We have stayed at this cottage a number of times now and it continues to suit.

A big pull being its proximity to Holne Moor: you can just walk up the drive and it is there, the other side of the cattle grid.

Absolutely spot on.

You worry when you book somewhere new, but it was fantastic. It's the little things like toilet paper and kitchen essentials already available that make the difference. We will be returning.

This is a delightful cottage on the very edge of Dartmoor, with stunning views and access to the moors from the end of the drive.

The cottage is quite simple but adequate for 4 adults. The kitchen was well enough equipped that self-catering was possible, although it is a little tight for storage space. We really appreciated the 'rustic' conservatory - a really nice space with access to a small courtyard garden. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our time here.

We have been going to this cottage once or twice a year for some years now - and it certainly suits us.

As does the moor adjacent.

Third time here and can’t wait to book again.

A lovely cottage, nice and secluded, with great views, and despite being on a working farm, it was very quiet and private.

Superb location for walking or cycling around Dartmoor as well as visiting National Trust sites, or other areas of interest, in South Devon. Buckfast Abbey, just a few miles away, is a must-visit! We had a thoroughly great week.

We had a wonderful stay at Forestoke LInhay, and definitely hope to go there again.

The cottage is simple, but very warm and comfortable, and we very much enjoyed being there. Margaret is extremely helpful and welcoming, but without being over-present, the kitchen is very well equipped, and everything was straightforward to use. And the view from the kitchen and upper bedroom window - it's a wonder I managed to detach myself! Lovely place - we'll be back.

Excellent place to stay for the walker, comfortable and cosy, with everything you need.

A great Christmas hideaway!

2nd visit and will be rebooking again for 2 weeks in May.

Cosy cottage, everything we needed, no fuss, just the way we like it

About the seventh time we have stayed at this cottage over the last four years or so.

The views from the cottage and the moor beyond are still great.

Our host, Margaret, had kindly provided tea, coffee, milk and sugar ready for our arrival as well as a lovely Madeira cake to help us settle in.

When she discovered it was my wife's birthday she gave her some flowers and a bottle of wine! Lovely, thoughtful touches to make our stay that little bit more special.

The cottage is lovely inside.

It’s certainly big enough for four people. Excellent and secluded court yard garden. Ideal for remote get away and walking across Dartmoor. The moor is literally at the gate. Be prepared though for a cramped bathroom and challenging plumbing. The bed mattress is very soft. Overall a lovely place it doesn’t feel like your next to a working farm the views from every window are stunningly.

Cottage was beautiful, with stunning views and a lovely host who was very welcoming.

In need of some maintenance work with regards to taps needing new washers and repair work needed on the conservatory but this would not stop us from returning as soon as we can.

I think this was our fifth visit to this cottage and it continues to suit us well.

Both location of and views from the cottage are great. Plus there were cuckoos on the moor, not something we hear much of in Epsom.

Views were stunning, very comfortable cottage, there were some faults, the hand shower in the bath was poor, kitchen was small but adequate, loved the log burner, location was the best, thank you all for a great holiday, want to go back tomorrow.

It is a beautifully situated cottage with great views from the main bedroom and kitchen window.

Its great asset is immediate access to Dartmoor, 100 yards from the back door. The cottage is very comfortable, the wood-burner functions perfectly. A stand-up shower in the bathroom could be a useful addition, but we managed quite well without one.

Perhaps our fourth visit to this cottage.

We like it (and its splendid location) and will be going again.

A lovely cosy little cottage very close to the moor.

Very comfortable and safe.

Had a mobile phone signal in the house most of the time, so could connect to the Internet.

Our only gripe is that there is no lighting from car parking area that shines on the steps down to the accommodation.

Found this quite daunting returning after walking on moors. Otherwise, all was very pleasant

the property was great but perhaps a note ought to be made of the 5 miles of twisty -sometimes steep country lanes to get to the place

Nicely secluded and private cottage, although I never met the owner physically we spoke on the phone a couple of times and she seemed very nice also leaving a cake for when we arrived and bottle of milk.

I wouldn't recommend the cottage to anyone with mobility issues as bath could be a little difficult to get in and out off with no real shower facility. The double bed could also be a little firmer, I am ok as I can sleep on anything, but my wife found it uncomfortable, however my son found his bed super comfy. Generally roads are super narrow, but lovely beaches & little towns.

Was a lovely holiday cottage in the middle of a secluded country surround which was beautiful.

A warm welcome from the host, an excellent cottage right on the edge of beautiful moorland, a very enjoyable and comfortable stay.

A very beautiful location in a pretty part of Dartmoor.

The converted barn cottage has its own walled garden, with plenty of greenery; very peaceful. For views of the area, and of the lovely landscaped gardens belonging to the farmhouse, you have windows from the ground floor and upper floor bedroom.

Our third or fourth visit to this cottage, which speaks for itself.

Convenient to our purpose and in some splendid country (with public houses) for the down times.

A comfortable, quiet, well-equipped, private and thoughtfully arranged cottage with a lovely garden in heavenly Devon.

The bathroom was very basic without proper shower facilities, just a hand held shower and small bathtub.

Although I knew that the property did not have Broadband (WiFi) you sure as hell miss it when you don't have it. I just managed to us my phone as a hot spot as long as the phone was up stairs.I needed the internet to plan cycling routes on Dartmoor.

Clean cottage in excellent location.

Only yards from the Dartmoor National Park. Two things that need mentioning, not suitable for people with disabilities or issues with walking, two sets of stairs to enter either side of the property are what you would expect in the country as they fit in with the cottage, but not very safe especially if wet. Also the hand shower is only suitable for hair washing and not using as a shower.

Very well equipped romantic cotage, we liked the place very much.

Location in the heart of nature, best for tors and river walks.

We like the location and we like the cottage - with views from kitchen and main bedroom being a particular bonus.

Lovely cottage (converted barn) right on the edge of the open moor.

Holne shop a short drive or 15 minute walk away.

The cottage was comfortable, clean and in a prime position for seeing all that Dartmoor offers.

Two niggles and the first could easily be rectified. The lighting in the lounge/living area was very poor making it very difficult to read, this was especially regrettable as tv consisted mainly of football/tennis during our visit. Improved lighting is needed. The second which would be impossible to improve, but I believe should be made clear is the bathing problem. The ceiling is too low to shower although the information did say there was a hand shower. I think it should be made clear that it is not possible to stand to take a shower. The bird/wildlife in the garden was a joy to watch and a real treat.

The owner made us very welcome and had supplied everything we could have possibly required.

Best view in the world.

My Family and I had a wonderful time staying in the cottage.

The views are fabulous and the cottage is beautiful. The host was very friendly.

I explored the area thoroughly but always enjoyed coming back to my home away from home in the evenings, this us an absolute gem!
