Mary's Cottage

A lovely old cottage, steeped in local history, now incorporated within a working farm and cider making facility.

Good size kitchen/ diner just off from a comfortable and peaceful lounge. Upstairs had 2 good size bedrooms each with onsuite facilities. Well equipped kitchen with all you need if you with to prepare and cook any kind of meal for your family/friends. The accommodation is suitable for couples or small families. Our host Susan was very welcoming (particularly the fresh scones, jam and cream on arrival....yummy) and ensured our time at Mary's Cottage went very smoothly.

We stayed there as a family, with two young kids.

We all had a very lovely stay. The place was very clean and cosy. They have supplied everything you would need for your holiday home like duvet, sheets, towel, toiletries, utensils, vessels, books and lots of indoor game sets. Kids loved playing on the huge lawn, next to the cottage, with picnic tables and chairs. On arrival, We were surprised by a delicious cream tea treat prepared by the owner. The owners are lovely people, very welcoming and kind. They are always ready to help and up for a good chat. We would definitely book the cottage on our next Devon vacation.

What a lovely cottage in splendid surroundings.

Great warm welcome and greeted with a delicious cream and jam scones. There was no dishwasher but we didn’t miss it, as the view whilst your washing up is spectacular and the wildlife made you still look out the window after the washing up was finished. Sue and Mark are wonderful hosts and I would recommend the cider.

Hosts Mark & Sue on hand if we needed them. Loved the fact it was on a working farm but the land around the cottage was safe for the kids to run around and look at some of the animals. Perfect base to explore the towns around North Devon which we did daily. Hope to be back one day

We had a wonderful stay at Mary’s Cottage.

A beautiful and peaceful setting on the farm. Our hosts were very friendly and welcoming and it was a lovely treat that our host made delicious home made scones with cream tea for when we arrived. The cottage is so cosy and comfortable, with an extremely well equipped kitchen. There were lots of board games which we really enjoyed playing as a family. The cottage is in a great location for the beach at coombe martin, watermouth castle and other family attractions. Also lots of local eateries and country pubs with great food.

Having spent a week there can understand why. Beds a little soft for our liking but thats a personal preference. Would be happy to stay there again.

A truly lovely and comfortable cottage in the centre of the farm with great facilities and equipment.

Very helpful and pleasant owners. Highly recommended if you like a working farm environment. Only negative would be the general instructions from the email to identify the farm. To state it is between two areas if you are not local is confusing especially in conjunction with ‘look for the cider farm sign’ when you are not aware it is the cider farm. It’s easy when you know but not after a long journey.

Lovely place and so peaceful!

Our hosts, Sue and Mark, were very welcoming and friendly, and suggested some great places to visit locally. We were greeted with a lovely home made cream tea, and were able to take advantage of the cider produced on the farm too, which is delicious! A little out of the way so we needed to use the car every day, but worth it for the peace and quiet. Highly recommended.

A comfortable, welcoming cottage.

The garden space is a relaxing joy. It's a lovely place to unwind and "get away" from the world whilst being close to coastal and inland attractions and walks. Our hosts were helpful and welcoming whilst not being intrusive. This was our second stay and every bit as enjoyable as the first. Bridget

This charming, farmhouse cottage, ideally suited for exploring N.

Devon, offers a genuine taste of rural life. Reached down a long, private track, it is very peaceful, as it is sited well away from noisy traffic. Children will love seeing all the farm animals and playing on the lawn, as the ducks contentedly wander by. The cottage is spotlessly clean and the owners are generous and friendly.

This is a beautiful, spacious and characterful cottage, very well presented and very clean.

We loved the isolated location on the farm, the welcoming hosts, the homemade cider, and we really enjoyed the welcome cream tea! We would highly recommend it and hope to return.

Mary’s Cottage was very quaint.

A bit too 1950s for us though. We found the access difficult through a farm but we were welcomed with scones jam cream eggs and milk which was a lovely touch. Owners very friendly and helpful. The cottage was well located for the various places we wanted to go to.

This comfortable and well-appointed farm cottage has a lovely atmosphere and is set in a tranquil location with the added benefit of a relaxing garden.

The owners Sue and Mark and their family were welcoming and attentive: the eggs, scones, jam and cream were a really nice touch! The seaside towns and coastal paths are only a short distance away from this rural retreat and we hope very much to stay here again!

Wonderful cottage, very well equipped.

Fresh home made bread and scone, with jam and cream left for us. Lovely owners who always stopped to talk to us even though it was lambing time. Generations of the family have made cider here and it is superb. Hope to visit again.

Cosy, tidy, clean and well maintained, seating is a little uncomfortable for long evenings.

Hosts made us feel very welcome, fresh bread and scones on arrival were lovely. Hosts ensured we were safe and secure throughout storm Eunice, even replacing ridge tile as soon as safe to do so.

Easy to find and ideal for exploring the western half of Exmoor without having to travel too far. The owners were welcoming and helpful and the cream tea was lovely!

Marys Cottage is really lovely.

I loved every minute of my stay there, it had everything I needed and was very comfortable and cosy, and the kitchen was very well equipped. On my arrival there was a homemade loaf , scones, jam and clotted cream on the table with fresh flowers dotted about , perfect start to my holiday. Lockdown was announced during my stay but Sykes website was informative and I found out that I was able to finish my holiday and not have to cut it short. Obviously lots of places closed but that didnt bother me as I went away to chill. I found some beaches that I could still walk on and there were takeaway places for a coffee or pasty and the supermarkets were open to buy provisions ! All in all a perfect break during strange times . Thank you Sue and Mark the hosts for allowing me to stay in their lovely cottage. Very sad to leave .

Mary’s Cottage is one of the best we have stayed in and wouldn’t hesitate in returning when we visit that part of Devon again.

Great location, beautiful cottage on a working farm.

Family are lovely and accommodating as well as the lovely homemade scones, jam, bread and fresh eggs from the chickens when we arrived. Also tried some of their homemade cider that is made on the farm!

Where to start Sue and Mark were so accommodating and very helpful with the local knowledge of places to visit, on arrival we had home made scones,jam and clotted cream.

Fresh baked bread and fresh eggs from the farm which was a lovely surprise Mary’s cottage was great all you need and more such a relaxing place and close to Ilfracombe, and other places to enjoy. Pure bliss.

Mark and Sue made us very welcome with home made bread, scones, jam and clotted cream.

It was great being on a working farm with such a selection of animals and with lambs being born each day. The cottage was very comfortable and cosy with the wood burner.

The farm that the cottage is on sells lovely tasting cider which is made on the farm, We had a lovely food pack left for us, bread, milk, eggs, scones with jam and cream which we really enjoyed.

The cottage was extremely comfortable.

The whole place, especially the kitchen, was generously equipped with everything we needed. From the scones on arrival to the well stocked wood basket we felt welcomed and had all and more than we needed for a really enjoyable and relaxing week.

We had a lovely welcome by the owner and shown around the cottage which had everything we needed from tea bags to tv.

It was very clean and comfortable and the bread, scones, jam, milk and eggs went down a treat. I certainly would recommend this cottage to anyone who is thinking of staying in this beautiful part of Devon.

We felt that Mark, Sue and Chris the owners of Marys cottage exceeded our expectations.

There warmth and passion in all they do on the farm is magnificent . The love and care to all the animals is heart warming. The engagement they gave us was wonderful. We have a special needs daughter Sue and Mark gave her opportunities to experience farm life close up. This is a farm with a big heart. Sykes asked me to vote for then as a good provider which they are, I feel that Sykes should offer a reward to good cottage owners as this one would have the Mason vote. Thank you Mark and Sue for a terrific week.

Mary's cottage felt like a real home from home from the moment we walked across the threshold.

The cottage was roomy and comfortable. Susan and Mark are great hosts and it is easy to see why they have so many returning visitors. Should we ever go back to North Devon we would definitely stay with them again.
