The Croft

We are a family of 6 (4 adults/2 children ) plus Milo the dog!

and stayed at The Croft for 1 week in July. The Croft was an amazing stay…. Clean, spacious, beautiful interior, and had all the facilities we needed. The enclosed garden was an advantage having a dog, and the BBQ was great. We arrived to cream/jam scones on the dining table, a lovely touch from our hosts Pauline and Kathryn, who we met during our stay, and who were really friendly and helpful! I would definitely recommend this property .. you will not be disappointed!

This was our second stay. Great location to explore the local area. Lots of room and the owners are welcoming and friendly. Lovely cream tea waiting for us on arrival, always welcome after a long drive. Thanks so much for another lovely week.

Lovely cottage in a quiet, peaceful setting.

Not too far from shops, pubs and take aways but everything needed to cook meals if you wanted to. Beds are very comfy. Downstairs bedroom is massive. Loved the en-suite. Ideal for me and hubby. The steps to get up to the property are a little big so can see they may be challenging for someone with mobility issues as previously mentioned in reviews. My concern was the bush either side of them. It was impossible to not come into contact with it and as we didn’t have very good weather we ended up getting wet from the leaves. Maybe keep it trimmed back a little more than it was? The cream tea on arrival was lovely. Thank you. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

Excellent cottage with every comfort you needed and more.

A lovely cream tea on arrival. Great location with lots to do nearby. Lovely owners on hand next door. The downstairs bedroom and bathroom were great for my elderly mum but unfortunately to three large steps to the entrance to the garden made getting in and out very difficult.

It was a wonderful spacious cottage maintaining characteristic original features ideal for a family of 5 and a dog.

The accommodation and the hosts were brilliant, not intrusive but available when required.

Fixtures and equipment was excellent, everything you could require.

A very spacious cottage.

Would recommend this property. The only problem we encounted was the steep steps up to the garden and the steps into the property. My husband had great difficulty with these. There was quite a lot of stones on most of the garden with only a small lawn on one side, I am sure my little Jack Russell was not impressed. We have enjoyed better gardens, as to the amenities one could not ask for more. Somewhere to put soap and shampoo in the shower cubicle would have been helpful.

This has to be the best cottage we’ve stayed in.

Everything we needed was supplied. The ground floor bedroom was really big with a lovely en-suite and a nice comfy four poster bed. The upstairs bedrooms were quite spacious as well, In fact the whole cottage was a nice size and really well equipped.It was a lovely surprise on arrival to find the table laid with fresh scones,jam and cream and tea and milk etc. We will definitely be coming back again.

The owner was the perfect host with helpful information prior to our stay and providing a home from home.

It was well equipped and clean and they even laid out a cream tea on arrival. They resolved any problems immediately and I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending them.

The cream tea on arrival was so appreciated. We've stayed in cottages for years and this was definately the best. Couldn't fault anything! We wish Kathryn and family the best for the future.

Lovely cream tea set on table and was clearly home made. The property was actually better than the photos and very homely and comfortable. We enjoyed visiting several local beaches and always enjoyed arriving back to a relaxing evening. Would definitely book again if in the area.

The Croft was a beautiful retreat for a week’s holiday.

We were welcomed by the owners on arrival and found a lovely cream tea all laid out for us. The cottage is so well kitted out - everything has been thought of for a truly comfortable and relaxing stay. It is even better than the pictures. Our friends thoroughly enjoyed their stay in the huge master bedroom with the luxury en-suite shower and bath. We would highly recommend this cottage and would love to return in the near future.

Katherine the owner was very welcoming. It’s a very well equipped and nicely decorated cottage. It’s also ideally located if you wish to explore the coast with Bude only 8 miles away and Paidstow just a 1.5 hours drive away where you can find beautiful beaches.

The cottage was like home from home.

Well equipped, comfortable, and located close to the A39 ! Would happily return. The host was warm, helpful and very welcoming, we had a great stay.

After a lovely personal welcome we were greeted by a wonderful homemade cream tea.

Beautiful barn conversion, comfortable and very well equipped kitchen which was great for cooking in after a day out with young children. Baby gates (top and bottom of stairs), high chair, travel cot (with a proper mattress) and childrens cups and cutlery available on request as well as dog bowls for our pooch. Beds comfortable and plenty of room for us 4 adults, 2 children, baby and dog. Within a short distance to plenty of beaches and Waitrose about 5 minutes drive. Hopefully we will return.

Beautiful Holiday cottage, we had the best stay at the Croft.

There was absolutely nothing that we needed that was not available, it was very spacious but with such a relaxing and cozy feel and the downstairs bedroom with en-suite was ideal as we were visiting with our mother. Perfectly located to explore Devon and Cornwall and we visited Boscastle, Newquay, Westward Ho! Bude, Looe and Padstow during our stay! Really lovely hosts and the welcome cream tea was a lovely surprise. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property and I sincerely hope we can return at some point. Everything was definitely 5 stars from us :)

We loved the peace and quiet at this beautiful holiday barn.

Everything had been thought of and provided for. It was superbly clean and comfortable except for the one small point - the bed on the ground floor was very uncomfortable and hard. We would have transferred to an upstairs room but my mobility problems meant I couldn't access the floor above. We nevertheless had a superb week and will definitely book again. Thanks to the owners for their kind hospitality too. They were extremely welcoming.

Very spacious and super comfortable beds. The cottage is equipped with everything you will need. The lovely welcoming owners have converted the barn to a very high standard. We had a most enjoyable holiday despite the weather being unkind to us.

Just a fantastic place to say so peaceful the owner was friendly and would stop for a chat , great location for exploring Devon and Cornwall highly recommend that Croft barn

We had the most wonderful holiday at The Croft.

Owners are incredibly friendly and setting it so peaceful. The Croft was beautiful, immaculately clean and very homely. We will definitely be back.

On arrival we received a warm welcome from Kathryn and Pauline the owners and upon entering the The Croft we found A Cream Tea awaiting us.

The Croft itself was spotlessly clean, very spacious and as we found out later very comfortable. The views from the garden were lovely. This property is definitely on our list for further holidays

We had a lovely stay at The Croft for a second time.

The kitchen was well equipped and the cottage was comfortable. Had a few issues with the internet and with no DVD player we had limited viewing in the evenings even though there was a selection of films that we could have watched. Cream tea on arrival was a lovely touch after our journey down. Owners were very accommodating. Would recommend to our friends without any hesitation.

Very peaceful and tranquil. It has the best equipped kitchen for a self catering cottage I have experienced. Lovely views and well placed for exploring surrounding areas. Had a great week.

Very helpful owners. Remote and quiet yet only one mile from Waitrose at Holsworthy.

The accommodation was very spacious and very well equipped, though generally a bit tired in places.

The downstairs is a little bit gloomy feeling even when sunny. We had trouble following the instructions to find the Croft, a clear sign on road would help.

Beautiful accommodation, beautiful location!

We had a great week exploring the local area and playing on the beaches. Would have liked a few more things in the kitchen, due to COVID, we stayed in and cooked. Would benefit from some chopping boards and flat oven trays. Also couldn’t find the dustpan and brush. Fantastic week and we were sad to come home

We had a great time, the owners were so lovely and friendly and very helpful.

You don't need to go without anything as the cottage had every thing you need and the lovely mince pies and cream waiting were lush, thank you, it was so lovely going away for Xmas and not having to put the tree up yourself as that was a lovely surprise waiting, the cottage was lovely and clean and the beds were so comfy. And when leting out Alaska our Alaskian Malamute we never had to worry with her wondering off as the garden was closed in, and the view from the cottage looking onto the fields and the chickens was a lovely sight. We will be arranging another holiday here in the near future, Thank you for a wonderful time and for all the help,you gave us. Happy new year x

Overall we had a really superb time.

The Croft is a cosy and comfortable little cottage ideal for a family break with a dog and in a great location. The cottage is well equipped. A couple of improvements could be to shift check in time from 2:30pm to 4pm to allow the check out time to be shifted from 10am to 11:30am. This would make for a much more leisurely final day. Also the quality of the cutlery and sharp knives was poor. They were rusty and so could do with being replaced. In the rooms upstairs the blackout blinds do not cover the window so we had to block this ourselves with tin foil and the twin bed mattresses were very tired. That said the double bed mattresses were very comfortable. Again we had a lovely stay but just a few tweaks could make it fabulous.

Excellent place to stay

Lovely cottage with a warm and friendly welcome.

Cream teas upon arrival was a nice touch. It is slightly difficult to find at first as it is tucked away down a lane, maybe owner could post a picture of the sign at the top of the lane as part of photos. Fresh eggs from the chickens at the bottom of the gardens and our dog had the run of the meadow which he absolutely loved. Definitely will return as an excellent base for surrounding areas.

We stayed here the first week in June and have to say that the cottage was really lovely!

It was exactly as advertised and more. It is a home from home with everything you need, lovely and clean and the scones and cakes waiting for us on arrival were a really thoughtful touch, we especially loved the nice big bath in the en suite adding a little touch of luxury. Would definitely book again and recommend to friends and family as would we recommend Sykes too for booking your holiday they made sure they had sorted any requests for us before we arrived and everything felt very smooth and effortless!
