Extremely well equipped with everything we could possibly need. We were a 3-generation party of 11, comprising 6 adults and 5 children with ages ranging from 20 months through to 9 yrs.The property was perfect for our needs, extremely spacious with lots of areas for people to spread out although we tended to congregate in the kitchen/living/dining area. The children, especially the younger ones, loved the toy box which was a very welcome surprise and the older ones made very good use of the games room. We really did feel very privileged to have use of the property and would not hesitate to recommend to anyone.

We were a family of 8 adults and five children aged from15 months to 6 years. Huge selection of games and toys was most welcome and helpful. The stair-gates were a little wobbly and a helpful addition would be some kind of barrier or gate at the bottom of the main stairs. The choice and number of kitchen utensils and cookware was amazing but perhaps more space could be made available for groceries. We all loved our stay at Sandsgate and the house really made our holiday a truly wonderful experience enjoyed by all of us, especially the children. Thank you for providing such excellent accommodation, gardens and views. We cannot recommend Sandsgate highly enough as a destination for a family holiday and/or reunion.

I am so pleased you had a great holiday and thank you for the feedback - we will check the stair-gates and replace if necessary. We can also provide a stair-gate at the bottom of the stairs if requested. I hope we will welcome you back to Sandsgate Property Owner

The furnishings and equipment (particularly kitchen) were all there in abundance, and there is a lot to see and do in the area (which we already knew quite well having lived near Teignmouth some years ago). We could have done with a stout hand rail on the main stairs, and a scale site plan would have been useful. Otherwise really good, and it all went so well that we may try it again.

There were 12 of us staying and the house was big enough to still feel spacious. The garden is wonderful, beautiful views. We will be booking again for sure.

Very comfortable well appointed house. Beautiful garden spaces - terrace, woodland, fire pit area. Lots of parking, big fridges, professional Ringmaster cooker, games room, lots of sparkling clean bathrooms. (We hesitate to raise our only niggle - but we all would have preferred king sized beds rather than the slightly unusual pairs of small doubles in 3 out of 5 of the bedrooms, but accept that others might like this arrangement.) All in all highly recommended for a lovely luxurious stay in a beautiful large house in an exceptional location. We loved it.

Hi I am delighted you had such a lovely holiday and enjoyed your stay at Sandsgate. Thank you for your kind words. We use 4 foot beds instead of king-size beds purely because it is more flexible for the majority of guests who come and stay with us. We have quite a few multigenerational families or groups of walkers or friends and we find that they prefer to have a bed each. However I fully understand your comment and I hope it didn't detract from your experience too much . Nickie (owner) Property Owner

The views are out of this world and you truly feel like you are completely isolated from the rest of the world which is exactly what we had hoped for. There was bags of space for our group with all bedrooms being more than sufficient in size, a games room, a large lounge area and the enormous kitchen was suitably well equipped. The gardens were fantastic for our young people to explore aged 6-8. There it's lots to do and see locally and we enjoyed walks to Chagford and Sandy Park, a walk from Castle Drogo to Dewsteignton and Fingle Bridge. A little further afield we travelled to Dartmeet and Spitchwick for a picnic and kayaking, Dartmouth for some crab fishing and Saunton Sands Beach on separate days. There is so much to do from Sandsgate and we look forward to hopefully returning again one day.

Anywhere we had to go we had to travel out of the area. We thought Chagford would be more accessible but the road in is very narrow and not suitable to drive at night time as if you meet traffic at times you would need to reverse to let other cars past and this was difficult in the dark. Nearest decent supermarket is in Oakhampton which is quite a drive away. (Co-op and Waitrose) As for the house it was perfect for our large family and as the weather was against us we spent a lot of time entertaining.

We are sorry to hear that you had difficulty getting to the nearby stannary town of Chagford. Our Devon country lanes, can be quite narrow in places. There are several different routes into Chagford, one of them along the A382 to Easton Court, where the roads into Chagford are wider with passing places. Chagford has a wide variety of shops which include a Spar, hardware store, butchers, florists and a delicatessen. Okehampton a 20-minute drive away along the A30, has three supermarkets, a Coop, Lidls and Waitrose. Property Owner
