Great place to stay, very comfortable and the outside space for 2 border collies was brilliant, in a good area to see Dartmoor,

Yet another relaxing stay at the Linhay.

As usual everything was immaculate only one thing missing was a frying pan, couldn't see one anywhere. We will probably stay again and would highly recommend the property.

Perfect location for our Dartmoor holiday and so many wonderful places to visit, long walks etc within very easy reach.

The garden is absolutely wonderful and very peaceful, as is the walk to the private lake. Milk in the fridge on arrival and a delicious lemon cake was much appreciated after a long journey - thank you! The cottage is very well equipped, super comfy beds and good quality bedding. We loved watching the birds who definitely appreciated the supply of peanuts! I do think it’s important to share within the listing that the property is significantly overlooked on one side by another holiday rental, which also includes the parking area for the other cottage. This was very busy during our stay (4 cars at one point!) and was challenging with two dogs. We ended up closing the blinds at times which was far from ideal.

The property is very clean,warm and has a lovely walled garden so it is safe for dogs.

I can not fault the property and i have booked again for next year for the 4th time.

Really had a great 3 weeks.

The garden was perfect for the dogs. We loved the bird feeder and seeing the woodpeckers, Jays and assortment of small garden bird. Comfy bed, warm, very cosy.

Only niggle was that no where on the listing did it state no pets allowed upstairs or on the furniture.

This was our second stay at The Linhay and it was another lovely stay.

The property was warm, cosy and comfortable and was also very well equipped. The garden is very secure for our dog. It is also a lovely garden and must be very pretty in the summer. We have already booked to go again next year. There was also milk in the fridge and a lovely lemon drizzle cake waiting for us on our arrival.

We enjoyed our stay and the cottage was very clean and comfortable.

It has a very well stocked kitchen in terms of crockery, pans and utensils and an efficient dishwasher!

You will not be disappointed.

The cottage is a real all rounder. Comfort, convenience and lovely surroundings.

The Cottage was in a lovely location, Lovely cottage & Gardens, however we both struggle with health problems & we found the Beds & Settee so uncomfortable, We could never enjoy relaxing as it was so uncomfortable, It was heaven to get home, to a lovely comfortable beds & sofa.

K. over the past six years, I have to say The Linhay is like being in a familiar home. The cottage is cozy and relaxing. Spotlessly clean and comfortable. It feels like I’m staying with family. The owners are lovely and the location is perfect. The private garden is beautiful. Great work everyone! Thank you for the much needed relax.

Great stay could do with a little updating on seating comfortable for two adults only walled garden great for our dog had a problem with hot water tap but soon remedied by owner ,exit doors to the garden not very secure over all 8 out of ten for this cottage.

Cosy, warm and well equipped cottage.

Lovely fully enclosed garden also a short walk to a private lake. Lovely lemon drizzle cake waiting for us on our arrival, also milk and tea bags. Would highly recommend this holiday cottage.

We could not fault it.

Our second visit to the property and we highly recommend it to those wanting somewhere as a base to explore Devon and Cornwall. The secure garden for our dog was great and a walk to your very own small lake is an asset. The provision of a lemon drizzle cake on arrival was a bonus as was the pint of milk in the fridge! There is a local pub (The Post Inn) which provides good food and drinks at a reasonable price. Full credit to the owner and Lynne who looks after it to make it a great holiday stay.

Loved everything about this property, the secluded garden for the dogs was awesome, lots of birds in the garden so I put a feeder out and more came , bird watchers delight , it was warm , well equipped, milk and cake a bonus , the only thing I missed from home was a set of kitchen tongs , but that's just what I use a lot of , loved having the option of a bath or shower too , if it wasn't such a long drive I would be back again in September, thanks again fo letting me , steve , penny and oli (dogs) have your property x

This is a lovely little cottage set amongst other converted farm cottages.

It is exceptionally well equipped with almost everything you would need for a holiday in Devon. We especially liked the large walled garden which was perfect for our two dogs. The lovely lime cake was well received. Thank you. Can’t really find anything we didn’t like about the house or garden I think it would be a special place to be over summer, although the excellent heating kept it toasty during a bitterly cold spell. Our only issue was a casserole full of Mac cheese that exploded in the oven! Thanks for a lovely break away.

A stunning dog friendly cottage with all the comforts of home.

The cottage had everything we needed and more for our weeks stay. The large enclosed garden and leisurely stroll to the lake were much appreciated by our furry friends. It’s located in a very tranquil area but within less than an hours drive to many beaches in the Devon, North Cornwall coastlines along with being very much in the close vicinity of the Dartmoor National Park and it’s wonderful walks and history. Meldon and Fenworthy reservoirs are a must visit and within easy driving distance from the accommodation. We enjoyed reading in the information booklets provided by the owners the amazing story and pictures of how the farm and building conversions were developed by the present owners family. We used the local pub The Post Inn which was recommended and very dog friendly for a Sunday carvery and an evening meal both of which was superb. We will definitely return in the near future.

The property was excellent, as described: very well equipped, very comfortable throughout, certainly dog friendly and a great location from which to explore Dartmoor and Devon.

Sykes Cottages are efficient, to the point of being officious, hardly a company to warm to - and £15 to return any small item left behind by mistake? Ridiculous attitude.

This was our third stay at The Linhay, we love the walk to the pond/lake as we have two dogs who also enjoy it.

There is all you need for a comfortable stay here, the area is very quiet & beautiful.

3rd time staying at the Linhay, we keep coming back with our dog who enjoys the peaceful and secure garden and the private field and lake which makes walks very convenient.

A characterful but modern property with everything you need for the week. Although on a narrow country road, the Linhay is less than 2 miles from the A30 and very conveniently located, we've never had any problems navigating the country lanes. There are numerous walking opportunities a ten minutes drive on Dartmoor. I'm sure we will be staying again soon.

I found long blond hairs on the settee, rubbish in bin by front door, a dirty knife in the drawer

The Linhay is a beautiful cottage with an amazingly large walled garden It’s very comfortable with plenty of crockery The bathroom is great and large and the downstairs toilet a blessing

Just the most wonderful place to be!

I’d like to say it’s awful so I can reserve the best dates for us every year… but I can’t! In every way it is truly delightful and we will just keep on coming back… a haven of tranquility, wildlife and with the wealth of Dartmoor in all its glory on the doorstep. A massive thank you as always to all at the Linhay… it never disappoints! ❤️

nice quiet break,stairgate to keep the dog downstairs a very good idea, garden large and secure plenty of space for our G/shepherd to run around nice walk down to the lake all in all a very enjoyable time, looking to return next year

Issues when parking car as gate too close to road making it quite dangerous when trying to park. Cake was scrummy and cottage just as we remembered - wonderful

The Lindsay was an ideal place to stay for our holiday break in Dartmoor/ North Devon.

It s lovely quiet place,in a peaceful location in stunning countryside. The cottage conversion from a Stabling building has been tastefully done given idea space for 2 although the additional small bedroom would make it super for a 3rd. The walk to the private Lake was fabulous where we picked fresh wild blackberries along the way after a nice chat with the friendly farm neighbour who helped build the Linhay and the Chilvery. We would highly recommended this place to stay and would certainly revisit .... it’s again well positioned for a National Trust places which we took advantage of. We also managed to go to Exeter Cathedral to sign the Book of Condolence for HRH Queen Elizabeth11.

I can’t recommend it enough. Such a cosy retreat with secluded, beautiful, peaceful garden. Always spotless and perfect for staying with four legged friends, though sadly this time we didn’t have our little fella as he passed away a couple of weeks before

The first thing that blew us was the size of the garden, fully enclosed so we felt safe in knowing that our two mini schnauzers couldn’t get out.

It’s big enough to build another house in and have a decent garden by todays standards. I was a bit concerned after booking this property after reading you’re allowed to unload your car on arrival but it has to be parked through a gate just down the narrow road. This isn’t anything to worry about because where you park your car is by the garden gate which also a private lane to the pond so when going out in the car we used the back gate all the time. It was a pleasant walk down to the pond which had a pair of Canada geese in residence with two young. Also saw some roe deer chasing each other in the field next to us. Large bedroom with a comfortable bed. Linhay was well equipped with everything you’d need and we would recommend it.

Linhay is a little gem, clean, warm, cosy and was very comfortable during our stormy week.

Well maintained with attention to detail. Boot room an added bonus for wet dogs! The walled garden a joy and through a wooden gate a lovely walk over stream , through meadow to a small lake. Plus , a handy shed to shelter from the rain . We didn't do much walking on the moors but a few outings to local pubs, Chagford and Moretonhampstead entertained us. We had a very relaxing week recharging our batteries We will visit again to see the garden in full bloom in Spring and Summer .

The Linhay is a warm, clean and comfortable cottage close to some great areas for walking.

The property has everything you need and is well~equipped with thoughtful touches like torches and more than enough crockery to stock the dishwasher. Beds were particularly comfortable and bedding of excellent quality. The walled garden is charming and would be a great asset in the summer for pets or children. The only drawback is that surrounding roads are very narrow…it involves a lot of reversing into passing places and not for the faint~hearted. Similarly, access to the parking area is awkward. Car has be left in a narrow lane while a gate is opened and closed.

We had such a comfortable time at The Linhay with our dog, Bracken.

And we loved the sense of it being a family holiday home as much as a holiday let, with the shared family history dotted about the cottage. We loved the lake and spent time writing and daydreaming there if we were not out on a long walk across the moors. We sampled several pubs in Chagford and other villages and found them all friendly and with good food. We got a bit lost trying to work out the TV system, but I imagine it would be self evident to others who are more up to date with TV tech. - it did not bother us at all and I have no hesitation in recommending this property.

The cottage was very clean on arrival and quite a few "extras" were included which was appreciated.

The privacy and walk to the lake is idyllic in the early morning with the birds singing. A well appointed cottage and despite temperatures of over 30 degrees some days the downstairs was very comfortable and the garden provided a high degree of shade if you moved around.

The garden is secluded and and secure (except for dogs who can jump a 3ft garden gate) and it is a pleasant walk down to the pond. A great base for exploring North Dartmoor. Thoroughly recommended.

We were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the premises, much more upmarket than our usual places.

The large garden with the high walls was safe for the dog and was a favourite of our greyhound who just loved zooming around in circles. Lovely walk to the pond , safe in the dark as off road. Parking by the garden gate very convenient. Glad to see there was recycling here. Convenient for exploring Devon, great location. Property is very popular so it's starting to to it's age and usage. We will be back

Shower may require upgrade.

Water doesn't drain away well and could be partially blocked. Otherwise warm and welcoming with comfortable beds and excellent walled garden.

Lovely cottage.

Our dog loved the safe garden and walk down to the lake. Even though the Dartmoor Weather was, shall we say, a little ‘mixed’, we would definitely book The Linhay again. Note that cottage description says sleeps 4 but now only beds for 3 so needs amending!

The Linhay is a lovely comfortable cosy cottage, well equipped with a lovely rural walled garden.

Lovely bedrooms (single is small compared to the generous main bedroom) - everything you might need.

The cottage was wonderful, just what we needed for our holiday.

And the garden was safe and perfect for the dogs, just as described. Having the pond to walk to from the back gate was a lovely addition. We loved waking up, getting a cup of coffee and enjoying the morning sunshine. An ideal base to access Dartmoor from and take on some long walks in the day. We will be back again I am sure.

Good facilities, clean and well located for days out walking.

Secure and large garden was great for our dogs. This visit was in November so would like to stay in the summer. Ample off road parking though would benefit from gate being set back to allow the gate to be opened with the car off the road. This was the best cottage we have stayed in so far (2 adults 2 Beagles) and a credit to it's owners.

We have holidayed in this cottage several times and love it so all expectations met.

My first trip is always the garden to see and smell the roses and just generally soak in the peace and tranquillity and breathe clean fresh air. The cottage itself is so cosy and just right for 2 people and dogs. Our two cockers also love it as well as it's doggy heaven for them. They love the bit of grass that's been left uncut to smell out where the mice and other creatures go. We were lucky to be visited by a hedgehog this holiday which was lovely. Comfy beds and everything you need. Lovely friendly owner too who recognised us from previous stays. We'll be back next year again.

The cottage is so lovely & homely!

The garden is spectacular, very secure and a lovely space for dogs and children to play & explore safely. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking anything you can imagine. The little walk down to the lake was an added bonus which was delightful. We wanted for nothing and had a lovely relaxing time, thank you :)

One of the best places we have ever stayed I would gladly live there if I could it really felt like home felt so relaxed and comfortable there could not fault it at all.

Although small it fitted in everything perfectly. Great condition and homely. The walled garden was charming and I almost wished I had a dog as would have been perfect with one.

Although only a short drive from the A30, this cottage is situated on a peaceful country lane leading down to the moor.

The cottage was elegant and brilliantly equipped - nothing had been left to chance. The mattress on the king size bed was firm and fabulous - and ensured good sleeps. The beautiful and well-tended walled garden was happily secure enough for even the most adventurous of springer spaniels who spent many happy hours hunting the flower beds for squirrels whilst I lazed on the bench reading books. Genuinely dog-friendly, there is a stair-gate ensuring dogs can't accidentally explore upstairs and a roomy utility room where dogs can enjoy their own space. Peace of mind for everyone. Ideally suited to those who enjoy walking and those who appreciate the beauty and quiet of Dartmoor, the cottage offered a warm and cosy haven after a morning yomping across the moor.
