"We recently returned from our stay in Cornwall and were genuinely impressed by the high standard of accommodation."
Everything was immaculately clean, thoughtfully presented, and equipped with all the essentials we needed for a comfortable and relaxing break. It truly felt like a home away from home.
The cottage was spotless and well-maintained. Every detail had been considered, making our stay effortless. The location was perfect—ideal for exploring Cornwall’s stunning coastline and charming villages.
The only downside was the hot tub. It took around two hours to fill and then another two hours to heat, which unfortunately meant I didn’t get to use it myself. That said, my daughter and husband made the most of it by turning it into a refreshing plunge pool for a quick 20-minute dip!
Despite the hot tub hiccup, we absolutely loved our stay and would return in a heartbeat. The cottage offered everything we were looking for, and its location made it a fantastic base for adventures. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a peaceful getaway in Cornwall.

"We spent a lovely week staying in The Granary, perfect location for exploring beautiful Cornwall."
The accommodation was absolutely beautiful, decorated to a high standard with a touch of luxury. Everything you could of think and more was available within the accommodation. With the bonus of having a private garage just across the court yard. This had even more extras that could be used, like a freezer, towels and crate if needed for the dog, items to use for crabbing and much more.
Good communication from the lovely owners also.
Thank you very much

"The site was very clean and comfortable and the welcome pack was excellent
However, I was surprised to read the statement “the heating is switched off from June to September “when it states in the contract that heating is included in the rent."
Fortunately the site stayed at a comfortable temperature, but the heated towel rails stayed cold, meaning damp towels. I was also suprised to read that if you used the logs provided please replace them. Usually the first lot of logs are complimentary.
I question if the site is truly dig friendly. The statement “ do not let your dogs wee on the grass, if they do please rinse the area” is ridiculous, where do you expect them to wee, when you provide a secure garden? Am I to follow my dog around the garden every time I let him out? Ridiculous!
Overall, I was impressed when I walked in and then spent the rest of the week really annoyed at the site statements.
Dear Karen, we are pleased that you enjoyed your stay, and that you were “impressed” we are looking into updating the guest book, as some of the content requires change, including the reference to turning the heating off, as you know we do not turn the heating off, the heated towel rails can be turned off and on by the switch on the wall - it’s a pity you didn’t contact to ask about this.We do provide a number of complementary logs for guests on there arrival, we also leave sacks of logs in the guest garage to purchase or “ replace” if used.
We believe our cottage is very dog friendly, we provide everything from dog treats to dog towels, bowls, leads, even a cage, our home is also a destination for those without pets so we must respect their expectations, we believe that cleaning up after you pet is not a “big ask” and where ever possible the patio areas are rinsed off especially in the summer months.
We do welcome any suggestions to improve our guest stay experience and strive to make any changes / improvements where possible

"I would not recommend this property."
We stayed there for a week in March and found that we were asked to comply with numerous trivial demands. For example, we were required not to let our dog urinate in the garden unless we sluiced it down afterwards. Also, we were supplied with stained sheets which were blamed on us afterwards and threatened with a cleaning bill. We left the property in good condition but were accused of leaving dirty sheets and towels (this was just through normal use).
Dear professor Gregory Atkins, in response to your complaint I would like to respond : firstly, our cottage is for everyone to enjoy, especially families with young children, so it is paramount that all areas are kept clean and are hygienic this includes the patio and grass areas, we don’t feel it is unreasonable for owners to clean up after their dogs, other requests for example : putting your rubbish out for collection, washing your dishes, emptying your ash from the fire etc are reasonable requests that are also requested by other Sykes owners.
With reference to the bedding / linen, I can understand how embarrassing it must be have been to have left your mess for my housekeeper to remove, the stained and soiled bedding / towels has had to be intensely laundered to remove the stains / bodily fluids or what ever was on them ? people do have accidents, some people are incontinent, but it would have been polite to let us know so we could have pre warned our housekeeper. We are not in the habit of accusing anyone, however, when we are presented with numerous photos from our housekeeper we have no choice but to inform Sykes who have copies of all the photos for your reference.
We would not recommend you to any Sykes owners

"Arrival info needs updating as no electronic gate, building work taking place on site, requirement to provide own logs for fire and hot tub needs to be in the main info so people are aware BEFORE booking!"
No freezer in main building so every time we needed ice for drinks we had to go outside to garage which because it was so cold, was a pain!
Thank you for sharing your feedback about your stay at The Granary Cornwall. We’re glad you took the time to let us know your thoughts, as it helps us improve the experience for all our guests.
I’m pleased that we were able to discuss where you could purchase logs before your arrival, so was a little confused to read about 'the logs' after you have stayed.
We apologise for any confusion caused by the Granary, Cornwall arrival information / advice for the house - this pack highlights the need to buy your own logs for the fire and the eco hot tub .
We do provide a starter pack of wood, but whilst we would like to we cannot fund the wood you will burn over your stay.
The electronic gates unfortunately, were damaged during the recent storms, and we’re working to address this as quickly as possible.
We understand how the need to access the freezer in the garage could have been inconvenient, especially during colder weather. Your suggestion is appreciated, and I’m pleased to share that we will be upgrading the fridge in the main property to include a freezer compartment for ice cubes.
We do hope you enjoyed the welcome pack provided, with the champagne, chocolates, and local Cornish treats, as we wanted to make your stay as special as possible.
Thank you once again for your valuable feedback, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back to The Granary Cornwall in the future.
