Lovely people.

One of the best we have stayed at and we had a great week.

Really enjoyed our stay here!

The location is perfect for the forest and lots of things very nearby to see and do. Lymington is minutes away and a very nice town! The owners are lovely and very welcoming. Just as a side note there is a dishwasher which was great!

Comfortable, clean, well furnished and decorated; TV, radio; very good kitchen and equipment.

Comfortable bed and neat little shower room en suite. Add to that a lovely warm log fire when we took over and a lovely friendly landlady. All together, not a lot more we could wish for!

Charming, peaceful and well equipped cottage, situated close to Lymington, with easy road access to visit our favourite places in and around the New Forest and south coast.

Our hosts were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The only downside for us personally was lack of wifi coverage and a too soft bed, which would negate a further visit.

Our second stay this year. A good position for seaside and The New Forest, plenty of walking opportunities a home from home . We spotted two deer on our last morning.

We had a really lovely week at The Bothy.

The cottage was private and quiet with lovely views of the garden and fields. It was cosy and comfortable with all the basics you would need for your stay. The cottage is only 5 mins drive away from beautiful Lymington with it's Marina, shops, pubs and supermarkets. A great find and we would love to stay again when next in the UK.

Never happened we let Sykes cottages know that my wife had a back injury in April and we could not go And requested a refund On the day we was supposed to be arriving I had a phone call from the owner of the bothy to ask if we was on our way I explained to her the situation then she replied that Sykes cottages had requested on our behalf a few extra days I said that I hadn't requested any extra days and told her that I had not been refunded She then replied oh well Then the line went dead So this can be the only review I can leave

Lovely accommodation, very clean and cosy.

The property was well equipped and spacious. It felt very private despite being in the owners' grounds. We appreciated how peaceful it was and how well placed for visiting places like Lymington and Beaulieu. The owners were very friendly, without being obtrusive. We would definitely rebook this property.

Excellent cottage in a fantastic location for exploring the New Forest.

Everything you could wish for provided with this cottage. The wildlife was amazing with foxes and deer every night during our stay. We will be returning.

A wonderful, cosy place with everything we could possibly want, including little touches like torches! Ideally situated to explore the New Forest, Lymington, the South Coast and Isle of Wight. Too much to do in one week, we hope to return.

The Bothy was a lovely place to stay well situated, quiet and surrounded by lovely gardens and countryside It was well equipped and the log burner was very welcome for the chilly evenings The only let down was the soft saggy mattress on the bed which was not good for a back pain sufferer We enjoyed our stay but would hesitate to return unless that mattress was replaced

The Bothy is a cosy property ideal for a couple.

The wood burner is a great feature and we looked forward to using it every evening. The location is ideal for exploring the New Forest. Add a recommendation to the listing for Setley Ridge farm shop, Rosie Lea tea rooms and the Pig Brewery all on the same road less than a mile away.

Pleasant and comfortable property for a couple.

Very clean and tidy. An information folder with equipment manuals and local information such as pubs and phone numbers would be useful as there seems to be no WiFi . Good location for Lymington and the New Forest.

Lovely peaceful location with warm and friendly hosts.

Nice and clean with everything that we needed for a short break. No annoying street lights or noise so after lights out totally dark which was helpful for a good nights sleep in the soft and comfy bed.

Location is great.

Perfectly situated by main road but no traffic noise and access to any part of the forest was easy. The property had everything we needed and was very comfortable. Hosts were friendly and helpful.

The Bothy was absolutely beautiful!

It was quiet, peaceful and spotlessly clean - but it felt like a home from home. Mr and Mrs Barnes were wonderful hosts, very kind and welcoming. The property is central to many places of interest that are available to reach after a short car/ bus ride. Our main delight was the wildlife at the Bothy- our daily visits by deer, rabbits, a fox and countless birds. We will most definitely be returning!!

Wonderful place to stay, so peaceful and quiet, it is situated close to all places you could ever wish to visit in the area, very clean comfortable and welcoming ,the hosts are so friendly and are on hand if needed.

We had a lovely three night stay.

The Bothy is surrounded by fields which is so relaxing. Each morning we were eased into our day by the sound of the dawn chorus. The cottage is spotlessly clean. The big bonus was having Bill lighting the log fire each day which was lovely to come home to. Highly recommended for a peaceful break.

We had a lovely stay at The Bothy having stayed there many times previously.

It was a lovely surprise that there was a new fridge with an ice box and this made things a lot easier, especially helpful in the summer when ice blocks are handy to take food out for the day. Also I didn't realise there was a dishwasher, I did check the details prior to travelling and this wasn't noted. I feel this is a very useful item and should be added to description. Our only criticism is the bed, we had hoped it was better but in fact it is worse. It definitely needs replacing and my husband had to revert to the settee for a couple of nights! Bill and Valerie are lovely hosts and made us very welcome, with Bill lighting the fire everyday and we love the cosiness of the cottage. If the bed was changed we would have given 5⭐ all round!

The Bothy was superb and it was a lovely week away.

The property was clean and tidy and had everything we needed. The owners were friendly but unobtrusive. They let us know they were there should we need them. Bob was brilliant in preparing the wood burner for us every day as we had never done that before. The only downside was the mattress - it was too soft for us.

We were disappointed with the position of The Bothy as it was on a very busy road which did not have a footpath.

Therefore, it was unsafe to walk to anything close by, which is what we like to do.

We love this cosy, quiet and private cottage, have stayed here twice and already booked for next year.

Bill and Valerie are friendly and accommodating and the location is great for the New Forest in general.

The Bothy is well situated for days out in the New Forest.

The owners were friendly and helpful. The bed was comfortable which is not always the case when you choose a place to stay on holiday. Nice peaceful location.

Under the village chestnut tree (conker) sits the Bothy.

A super location overlooking fields and an orchard. The accommodation is well designed and thought out Always animals and birds to watch. However, we were disappointed that on arrival there was no hot water. A call to Bill and he came to try and fix the problem. Eventually, a plumber was booked for the following day. He attempted to fix the problem and we had hottish water. 24 hours later we had no hot water again. We were lent a 5 litre boiler to manage with. They were unable to get a plumber until Friday. As we were leaving a plumber duly arrived!!!!!

The Bothy is an absolute gem , we had a wonderful stay ,clean ,comfortable and really friendley hosts, and to top it all we were visited by horses and a deer at the back of the garden.

I had a lovely time. My only suggestions would be that … a wok or sauté pan … and a sharp, non-serrated knife … and a heavy casserole … would have been handy.

A lovely short break, absolute peace and quiet.

At night the only outside light is made up by the moon and stars, in the morning the only sound is that of the birds singing. A huge thank you to Bill who took good care of us and made sure the wood burner remained alight so that on our return after a day out the property was so warm and welcoming. We will definitely return.

We had an excellent if brief Winter Break to explore the New Forest.

The Bothy is surrounded by country views and is very quiet and undisturbed. It is well designed, maintained and equipped, clean and tidy. We particularly appreciated the log fire in such cold crisp weather, kept made up and refuelled by the owner.

Clean and comfortable property and we were well looked after by Bill who made up our fires.

The stormy weather outside,but the cottage was so cosy, The wood burner stove was a delight,especially when the owner cleaned and laid the fire each day.

This was our 3rd stay in this property and once again we had a great stay love the fact that the fire is set for us each day, Also lots of lovely walks and cycle rides are all around the area.

Had a fantastic holiday at the Bothy, set in beautiful gardens of the owners, very clean, cosy and nicely laid out, ideal for a couple.

Mr & Mrs Barnes were extremely helpful and a lovely couple. It is on a busy road, which did mean you always had to use the car as not safe to walk along. Would certainly go back again if going to that area.

We were made very welcome when we arrived, Mr and Mrs Barnes were a lovely couple, showed us around the cottage.

The cottage was lovely and clean and every thing that we needed. We both said to each other, we could happily live here permanently. It was a shame that the fridge did not have a freezer compartment. We enjoyed sitting in the garden, and did see the deers a couple of times. The horses in the field looking out of the kitchen window came up to the window often, that was really nice. We would highly recommend The Bothy, as a lovely private and quiet place with lovely surroundings, and one of the most cleanness places stayed in. Thank you Mr and Mrs Barnes.

A comfortable stay.

The Bothy looks small but it is well equipped, nicely furnished and scrupulously clean. Ideal for two people. We found plenty of things to do in the area. The only thing we regretted was that we couldn't walk directly from the property and had to use the car whenever we wanted to go out.

Beautiful secluded little retreat, quiet and cosy, you would never know you were next to the owners house.

Very comfortable, clean, well-equipped and peaceful. Mr Barnes prepared and lit the log burning stove each evening in anticipation of my return - this was the icing on the cake!

The weather was beautiful (after the gales of the previous week) this was a bonus. The property was definitely the warmest we have stayed in and the owner was most helpful lighting the wood burner every afternoon, most kind of him.One petty moan it would have been nice to have a welcome pack(no tea, coffee or sugar) after a long drive nothing better than a cuppa.Apart from that a lovely weekend. Amazing place to stay

Comfortable and ideally located for visiting New Forest and Lymington, always with a welcoming warm fire on our return.

Very nice place everything you need Bill lit the fire every day before we came back so it was warm nice touch .

We have had a number of holidays with Sykes which have always proved to be very enjoyable and our break at The Bothy was another.

We had a mid week break in November and were welcomed by a blazing fire, which was lit every afternoon for us by the owners - a really lovely touch as it was getting cold by the time we got home every day. The cottage was situated in a lovely quiet area with fields next to it and we often saw deer in the early morning or late afternoon. It was very cosy and the kitchen was well equipped. We have marked 'comfort' as a 4 only because we felt the mattress could do with replacing. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Bothy.

It had everything we needed. The views over the fields, the deer grazing and the well maintained cottage was greatly enjoyed. We appreciated the welcome given to us and enjoyed a great week in the New Forest and along the coast.

Personally found the bed very uncomfortable.

Has a mattress topper on top of a clapped out mattress. Bit of a rolling experience, and not good if you have a dodgy back. Also no freezer, these days, was inconvenient Parking space is not outside the property, but a shingle path walk to main driveway Lovely log fire which we could've easily maintained ourselves, but the owner insisted on loading each day. Super position for cottage. Very peaceful and picturesque. Comfy lounge. Friendly and hospitable owners.

House clean and well equipped. Only thing could do with a non stick frying pan!!! Lol

The Bothy is in an ideal quiet location with incredible furniture and equipment, even including a Slow Cooker which we had not seen in previous cottages.

We made a trip to Cowes, Isle of Wight during Cowes week as foot passengers. It should be noted that the last ferry back to Hythe leaves at 6.30pm, which we missed. Therefore we had to get a taxi back from Southampton to Hythe to collect our car. We shall definitely be returning to the Bothy for another holiday in the near future.

The photos of the cottage really didn’t do it justice , the cottage was more spacious than we expected.

The patio onto the Orchard is beautiful and we had all our meals outside in a very private setting. Mr & Mrs Barnes are very pleasant owners.

Visited Exbury Gdns which was wonderful and also Lymington Market and Harbour. Also enjoyed a visit to Bucklers Hard and learnt more about the interesting history of the area. The Bothy is ideally located for holidaying in The New Forest and accessing Hampshire's coastal resorts.

It's cosy and comfortable positioned in a spacious garden. The Owners are very welcoming and helpful.

Perfect location less than a mile outside Lymington.

Very privately located within owners farm with great 360 views. Use of space really good and all facilities you could want, except for WiFi which is not a big deal if you have a big data bundle. Lovely, homely, clean cottage.

Great location - easy to get to other parts of New Forest. Friendly owners, on site so if any problems and delivery of fire wood every morning.

The owners of the Bothy Bill and Valerie are a very welcoming couple.

They came in every morning to relay the woodburning stove and if we were not back before 2 pm they would come in and light it so it was very cosy for us to return to. Naturally, they asked us when we arrived if we would like them to do it.

What a stay.

Bill and Valerie the owners were fantastic looked after us like family. Every day Bill lite the log burner. Small deer in the garden every day. Cannot fault our stay. Highly recommend.

The Bothy was an ideal place to stay.

It was quiet, comfy, cosy and welcoming. We had deer visit each morning and rabbits during the evening. The weather was kind and it was a pleasure to stay there.

The bathroom sink didn't look clean with a few toothpaste marks in it and the glass on the bedside table was sticky.

Apart from that, a lovely clean and peaceful place to stay.

This is the second year we have stayed at the Bothy .

it has everything we need and is in a beautiful spot, the owners are there if you need them but the Bothy is quietly secluded and offers a peaceful retreat. The local garden centre with a restaurant called Rosie Leas is close by as are many pubs. The Forest was at its best and gives plenty of quiet places to walk or just relax. The Bothy is a wonderful place to stay.

The cottage is situated in a quiet location and provided everything that we required.

The owners live close by and are always happy to help. As well as radiators in the lounge and bedroom there is a wood burner which the owner came in daily to clean the ashes from the previous day and set it up for the next use. If you tell him when you will be back from your day out he'll even light it an hour in advance so its nice and warm to return to. That's a service!

The location is excellent for the New Forest and shopping. The hosts are friendly and helpful. During the cold months they provide an abundant supply of logs for the wood burner.

The Bothy was a super comfortable little cottage in a wonderful and interesting area.

The owners, Mr&Mrs Barnes were very friendly and helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. We would definitely recommend this cottage and will stay there again if ever we are in the same area.

When we arrived there was tea and mince pies ready for us.

The Bothy is a lovely cottage - just the right size for a couple.

It's got a little private garden with table and chairs and most windows overlook fields (my husband saw deer grazing there one morning!). The landlord and landlady were very kind and provided us with more firewood to heat the wood stove in the living room than we could have ever wished for. It was amazing how warm the rooms got when the stove was in full swing! In terms of kitchen utensils, the only things that might have been nice to have would have been a cafetière and a garlic press. But these are minor details; everything else was absolutely fine. The location was ideal too - easy to get to anywhere in the New Forest. Some good heathland and woodland walks were just a few miles away from the cottage. Also there were at least 3 pubs not too far away (The Hobler, the Red Lion and the Filly Inn). I wouldn't recommend walking even to the nearest one - The Hobler - as the road is quite busy and there are no pavements. But it was excellent to have the choice of different establishments for dinners when one doesn't want to travel too far. And there is a Waitrose a few miles further down the road on the northern outskirts of Lymington - very convenient. We had a brilliant time and will highly likely return to this cottage!

The property lacks nothing for two people wishing to have a relaxing time in a wonderful part of the UK.

Shops and a great Saturday market only a couple of miles away in Lymington. The owners live adjacent to the Bothy and are both friendly and have a wealth of local knowledge. One thing to note. , the property does not have internet but 3G mobile services are available.

If you want piece and quiet we recommend THE BOTHY a lovely little place to stay, deer in the the field next to cottage,rabbits birds goshawk buzzards enjoyed watching garden birds in orchard every morning eating the fallen apples,cottage itself was very comfortable had every thing you needed though I never cooked as my son /daughter -in-law who live there took us out everyday site seeing, Thank you Mr Barnes for a lovely holiday

We are re-booking for the fifth year, it’s a great cottage!

The Bothy is ideal for a couple who like being away from busy towns.

Received a very warm welcome by the owners. Although this is located on a working farm, the field next to The Bothy this year was harvested for hay, and they were bayling the day we arrived, after this each morning we were greeted by either 2 or 3 resident deer, and a pair of buzzards, plus plenty of rabbits. Being so close to the New Forest there is an abundance of walks to try for all levels of experience, just need to take care if you start your walk from The Bothy as the main road does not have a foot path, and you need to walk on the verge which we found to be quite busy at times! Would definitely stay again if we returned to this area.

The owners a delightful couple who were close by but not intrusive,happy to do anything we needed.

Very comfortable cottage.

Didn't need the wood burner, but Valerie would have lit it for us if we had, we were fine with the electric radiator. My only suggestion is that maybe a hairdryer could be supplied (I forgot mine), although I'm sure Valerie would have lent me one, had I asked. I always take my pillow to self catering cottages, but this time didn't need it, pillows in The Bothy were lovely.

The bothy is in an ideal spot for a quiet holiday in the heart of the new forest and the coast .

We had a great time in the New Forest, and the Bothy exceeded our expectations as the photos do not do it justice.

We were made extremely welcome by our very kind hosts, who also largely dealt with the intricasies of the log burner, with which we were not familiar. Said log burner made the property so very warm and cosy, as we picked one of the coldest weeks this winter to date, this was especially welcome. The alternative heating is also effiecient and responsive. It was a great place for our holiday base, and we would definitely recommend this property.

After a very busy month at work we went for R & R and got just that.

Very friendly, helpful landlords, really cosy cottage and the New Forest nearby to visit. We couldn't have been happier.

Initial booking was a bit of a pain, but was sorted out very quickly, could not fault the bothy, very friendly and helpful owners.

Very helpful hosts especially regarding 'deer warning'. Only problem is in your arrival instructions from Brockenhurst when the 'Orchard House' turn is opposite the second 'New Forest Car Boot' sign, not the first, but 300 yards further on and facing Lymington.
