Bear's Apartment

We had a pleasant stay overall and would rate this apartment 4 out of 5 stars.

The location was excellent, with lovely views, and the apartment itself was clean and well presented. It was also great fun watching the helicopter training school nearby, which added an interesting touch to our stay. There is a lovely café called The Beehive just a 5-minute walk away, and a Lidl supermarket only a 2-minute drive away, making it very convenient. There were just a few areas that could be improved. The balcony felt a little tired and could have been cleaner to make better use of the outdoor space. The hallway had an unpleasant smell, and we found the double mattress to be very soft and somewhat worn, which affected our comfort. Despite these minor issues, we enjoyed our stay and appreciated the fantastic location, beautiful views, and nearby amenities. With a few small improvements, this would be an excellent place to stay, and we would happily recommend it to others.

Bears Apartment is bright, airy and very well equipped.

It was ideal as a base for walking locally and bus stop close by to travel into Weymouth, or further if needed. Having access from both bedrooms and the lounge, kitchen diner on to the balcony, brings the outside in. The views are spectacular looking out towards Weymouth, especially in the evening half light. Also, during a storm watching the thunder and lightning, light up the bay. One thing I feel would help future guests, would be adding where the entrance door access is located for the building.

Clean, comfortable and well equipped.

The view was superb and had great fun watching the helicopters. A Budgens and Lidl were nearby for shopping. Good size fridge and separate freezer. Lovely walks around the Marina area. Caught a bus to Weymouth and went to West Bay and Bridport by car. Weather was exceptionally cold, but the apartment was lovely and warm. It must be really lovely in the summer with the full length balcony. Would recommend and would visit again.

Bears Apartment is in a perfect location in Portland.

The instructions on arrival was perfect. We did find the apartment mainly clean although the floor wasn't 100% hoovered so we gave this a once over and the bed sheet in the double bed was clean but had a stain on it. The apartment had every item you would need for your stay and the bath towels were lovely and large. A few things for the owner. They have a food waste bins on the complex we would have been happy using them but didnt have compost able bags with us. Also one side of the toaster wasn't working and the small kitchen knife is broken and needs replacing. Highly recommend the bee hive bakery and easily in walking distance.

The apartment was very nice, overall everything was good but wasnt very impressed with the internet, the signal repeatedly went weak.

As I am disabled I needed the ensuite bedroom and arranged in advance for the two single beds to be made a double, when we got there nothing had been done. Despite this we enjoyed the visit, would just have been nice if what had been arranged had been carried out.

There was a slight confusion as details said the apartments were listed as Atlantic house but on the approach road the complex was called ocean view, the apartment itself was clean and well presented, the balcony and furniture provided were in need of a clean and a tidy up as furniture had an abandoned look cleaning items etc were left outside patio doors.

But overall we enjoyed our stay at this lovely apartment.

One key was a bit of a problem for two couples sharing the apartment.

Carpet in bedroom needed a good hoover. Stained quilt cover wasn’t great although had been washed it should be replaced. Building balcony needs some TLC but looks like a massive buildings maintenance job. What a view and a great location for exploring.

We had a fantastic week at Bear's Apartment.

The location is superb and offers great views of Portland Harbour on the 4th floor balcony. The layout is superb, the kitchen was very well equipped and we enjoyed eating outside on the balcony. Good information on the local area. We used the leisures facilities directly opposite. Mixed car journey days with bus travel - 10 minutes walk to the nearest stop. There is literally nothing we can say bad about the stay - perfect for a family of 4.

The view sold it, even the lift was reliable for those who found walking a chore.

Only two things to mention. The kettle seems to leak badly and certainly not from over filling. Secondly the single beds were the smallest I've ever used and I fell out. Otherwise a very different place to stay after holidaying in other 'cottages'.

I was born and lived on Portland until I was 8 yrs old then moved 300miles North.

Spent every childhood summer holiday in Weymouth and numerous visits since. Not visited for 11 years so one last nostalgic visit. Property was 5 star, great position, lovely views, comfortable and well equipped. Would recommend to anyone and only wish we could revisit but at nearly 80, it's too far away.

the wardrobe in the twin bedroom is very shabby and worn needs replacing would be nice to have a tv in main bedroom

Bears apartment is a beautiful 4th floor well presented place with everything provided to make it a home from home feel and a balcony/apartment view with a WOW factor.

The balcony goes all the way from the kitchen to the second bedroom with door access from the kitchen, living room, and both bedrooms, this apartment is a perfect stay for a family of four or two couples, but keep in mind there is only one key/fob which is needed for access to the apartment block and apartment. Parking is included with a dedicated space for the apartment The location is in Castletown alongside the old naval Portland port which is still in use with commercial shipping, cruise liners and the portland cement so this does bring noise from the lorries coming in and out at all hours day and night, there is also opposite a helipad, that is now a SaR training centre, we had the absolute joy of being able to watch the chinook being put through its manoeuvres along with another SaR helicopter this one did do night missions at 1am so if you are a light sleeper keep all this in mind. Regarding the lifts there are two of them, it would be extremely unlucky for the two to be out for maintenance at the same time, we had no issues with them. All in all we had a wonderful time and Bears apartment is in a perfect spot for visiting along the Dorset coast, would definately recommend.

This was our first experience of a holiday staying in an apartment, and it was accommodation we would not hesitate to repeat.

The layout and space of the apartment was ideal, especially for two of us (a bathroom each!), and the views were to die for. We wanted for nothing. Only one quibble. No anti-slip mat for the bath ... very slippery when showering and I fell out onto the hard floor, resulting in a huge bump on my head and multiple bruises, not to mention loss of dignity!!! However, otherwise absolutely no complaints. Oh, and the lift worked perfectly.

Lovely property, perfect location for us and beautiful views over the sea.

Well equipped kitchen loved it and will be back. Only slight gripe is with the leisure facilities being closed sometimes and none of the mobile numbers listed as maintenance to check timings of closures being answered or numbers not in use but not the apartments fault.

A very well appointed apartment and nicely finished.

Excellent views from the large balcony. It is a pleasant surprise to find good quality crockery and cutlery which does not send when you try to use it. Comfortable bed is also appreciated. The apartment is great if you are happy to prepare your own meals. Eating out locally is rather limited

We had a fab time in the apartment the views were amazing and it was so comfortable we would definitely stay again if we came to Weymouth

Unfortunately we found the sofa very low soft and uncomfortable to sit in but that is just our personal opinion.

Lovely apartment in a convenient location, with interesting views over the harbour and the heliport.

Great location to explore Portland and the Weymouth area. We definitely enjoyed our stay and would consider staying there again in the future.

A lovely, clean, well maintained and welcoming apartment with the most stunning views (I spent hours just sitting out on the balcony looking out at the view).

Four adults in our party and we didn't have transport ....prior to arriving I wasn't sure how we were going to cope but once we were there we had no problems whatsoever. We took full advantage of a weekly group save ticket of £55 (for up to 5 people) and we travelled the whole of the Dorset coast . We had a brilliant holiday. Portland itself is steeped in history and the views are spectacular. The welcome pack we found on arrival had loads of info on the surrounding area. What can I say more except it's a lovely lovely apartment. The group consisted of four very tired and stressed older nurses in need of some respite after Avery hectic few years...we came away so relaxed ..so it's back to the wards we go. Thankyou Daphne and Matthew and dream Cottages for the best holiday

The corridors could do with a refresh, carpets and painting.

More importantly though is the fact that the directions don't appear to be correct. Fortunately I had looked at Google Earth before I set off.

The apartment was ideal for us very spacious, clean and well equipped with everything we needed.

The weather was perfect . On arrival the en suite bathroom toilet was not working and were informed would be fixed but on leaving after a week was still not fixed ! We were given £100 to compensate but found it inconvenient to have to use buckets of water for a week to flush the loo.

The apartment is in an amazing location, not too far into Portland, so very easy access to Weymouth as well as the whole Isle of Portland.

The view from the balcony always gave us something to look at, and there are stunning views, and incredible sunsets. Unfortunately, the sofa was a little uncomfortable and one of the toilet flushers broke. Other than that the apartment is well equipped and spotlessly clean. There is so much to see and do in the area that suited the whole family. We had a fantastic week, and I thoroughly recommend. Thank you.

Great Apartment with fantastic views.

Hi -- the flat is well situated overlooking the harbour.

And convenient for a number of site seeing activities and the coastal path. Great to be able to have breakfast and dinner on the balcony. The kitchen has everything you need and both bedrooms and bathrooms were great. Only additional comment -- need to include mention of the parking voucher in the joining instructions and ensure the blue folder with the instructions & voucher are left out for people to find. Would definitely go back again!
