Explore the pretty village famous for its chalk giant on the hill and take a short stroll to the 3 historic pubs, The New Inn with its pretty courtyard, The Giant and The Royal Oak where you can quench your thirst with a pint of real ale or treat yourself to a delicious home cooked meal, or if you prefer, walk to the traditional village shop to stock up on local produce to prepare a hearty meal from the comfort of your holiday home.

There's plenty to see and do to keep you entertained during your stay, including the quirky experience of badger watching, or if that's not your thing, take a scenic stroll through the well-maintained gardens of Mapperton House, a striking sandstone manor, or spend a fun-filled day with the family at Kingston Maurward Animal Park and Gardens.

Historians may wish to venture to the town of Dorchester, known as the birthplace of renowned British author, Thomas Hardy, and home to eight fascinating museums and the Iron Age hillfort of Maiden Castle.

Within easy reach is the idyllic market town of Sherborne, resting within wooded hills and an abundance of greenery, where you can explore medieval architecture, discover the historic remains of two remarkable castles and the magnificent Sherborne Abbey, or dine out at one of the many restaurants that decorate the streets.

Lovely cottage, very comfortable and everything of a high quality.

And the best welcome package we've seen in years! Would happily return, and still lots more of Dorset to explore.

We had an excellent stay at Blueberry Cottage in Cerne Abbas in August 2026.

The house was very attractively decorated and spotlessly clean, very quiet at night and contained all the facilities we needed. The house is clearly looked after extremely well by the owners (and the cleaners), and was very relaxing to stay in. We have no negative comments about the property at all.
