Great layout.
Very cosy and well equipped. Parking for 3 cars and very detailed directions. Would suggests lights left on if people arriving after dark as house hard to spot. A few instructions need updating, bin days & central heating. Very much enjoyed our stay. Sound of military exercises close by when arriving in the dark initially alarming but then amusing!
We had a lovely holiday in a beautiful part of the country and really enjoyed our stay overall.
The house and gardens are exceptionally spacious, which was a real highlight. There was plenty of room for everyone, both inside and out, and we never felt short of space. There are, however, a few areas of the property that we feel could be improved. For most of our stay there was a very unpleasant smell coming from the septic tank outside, particularly after it had rained. At times it was quite strong and unfortunately made sitting outside in the garden less enjoyable. The garden furniture is also in need of replacement. Much of it was rotten, leaving only three usable chairs, and one of these actually broke when I sat on it on our first evening. Thankfully, we had brought beach chairs with us, so we were able to use those instead. We would recommend that the outdoor furniture is replaced before the next season. The bedding and towels are also quite old and tired. One of the sheets had a rip in it and, unfortunately, there were no spare sheets available. There are cracked tiles on the bathroom floor which should ideally be repaired, as some of the cracks could potentially cause a cut or injury. More generally, the property is very dated and would benefit from some investment and modernisation. It has so much potential, particularly because of its fantastic size and gardens, and some updating would make a big difference to the overall experience. Despite these issues, we genuinely had a great holiday and loved the location and the amount of space the property offers. With some attention and investment, this could be a fantastic holiday home.
A lovely big old cottage tucked away in a beautiful part of Dorset.
My family, with two young children, were very comfortable here. It was the perfect cottage to come back to. We would love to come back and stay for longer next time.
