Follis Cottage

We had a wonderful stay in Follis Cottage.

The cottage was clean, comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked to be able to cook. The owners were very welcoming and even bought our son a birthday card, which was a lovely thing to do. It is ideally located to visit numerous attractions and places. We would definitely recommend this cottage as a place to stay and would definitely stay again if we are in the area.

3rd time now at Follis Cottage,clean,comfortable,quiet and ideally situated with very helpful friendly hosts who live next door should you need them.

Lovely open green space beside property down to lawn, witnessed birds and 3 grey squirrels feeding. Ideal location for discovering Weymouth, Portland, Dorchester and coast west and east. Approached from old Dorchester road and road out to coastal road useful to have. Scenic area with views to the Corton downs that divide Weymouth from Dorchester. Excellent cottage, our 3rd visit

We had a wonderful, comfortable stay and the hosts were very accessible and helpful.

The only thing we missed was IPlayer but I think that was a temporary omission. We would certainly stay there again in the future.

Enjoyed our stay in this cosy cottage which had everything we required for a comfortable stay.

Follis Cottage was all it was described … well equipped, spotlessly clean and cosy with comfortable beds.

The owners were very friendly and helpful too. Unfortunately the weather was horrendous as Storm Benjamin blew in however the cottage was toasty warm. This cottage gets 10/10 from us.

We had a lovely stay at Follis Cottage situated in a rural area just 3 miles from Weymouth.

The owners live on site and are very friendly and helpful. The cottage is furnished to a very good standard and is very clean and well equipped. Heating is by electricity convectors. Kitchen has an oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer and plenty of crockery and cooking utensils. Clothes washer and dryer available in an outhouse. Beds were very comfortable and bedrooms have lots of storage space. Bathroom has a bath with shower over. Plenty of hot water available and shower is strong. Telephone signal was good and wifi a bit prone to dropping out. A good choice of supermarkets and other stores within two miles. Lots of public footpaths on your doorstep if you are keen walkers. We plan to return.

Positives: Good location and a clean property and the kitchen well equipt.

Negatives: No welcome pack which meant we had to go shopping locally as soon as we arrived. After we saw a mouse running across the floor we reported it and pest control was called out. We were told the garden was exclusively for our use but most mornings there were 3 builders vans parked in the field. It was a hot week so a fan would have been welcomed. The fact that the shower had a fixed head in the middle of the bath made it not particularly accessible.

This cottage is better for 2/3 people as the living space is small for 4.

There are some lovely walks from the cottage and the hosts are an absolute gem, very friendly and helpful. Thank you

Follis Cottage is ideally situated for getting around the Dorset coast by road.

Local buses run regularly into Weymouth and I found my stay quiet and comfortable. The only downside was there is no welcome pack, so you need to bring everything you need to start your stay trouble free. I would be happy to recommend this cottage to anyone.

2nd time staying here,would definitely stay again when visiting Weymouth.

Clean ,tidy and everything you need in very peaceful surroundings with very friendly hosts on hand if you need them

We arrived in a torrential downpour.

Before we could open a cat door, we were greeted by a smiling face under an umbrella. With me being disabled, our host helped my wife unload the car. He then showed my wife where what and how in the cottage. The cottage isn’t overly large, but was a good size for a week away from home. The internal doors are all wide enough for a wheelchair. The mattress is a little on the firm side from what we are used to, but we had a decent nights sleep. The cottage is traffic quiet. Most of the day is filled with birds calling to each other.there is a field where children can safety play next to the cottage.we will most likely book again for next year once I know next years Hostpital appointments.

Our second stay at Follis Cottage, perfect cottage in a quiet setting and immaculately clean.

My wife and I had a very nice week at Follis cottage it was clean and comfortable and the host was very friendly however we found that the shower being fixed in the middle of the bath could be a hazard for us older people

It had everything needed to make our stay a home from home, and what's more it all worked as it should. The location of Follis Cottage was perfect for Weymouth, and exploring the beautiful county of Dorset. Could not fault it. Everything about Follis Cottage is 1st Class. Situated in a beautiful place, with lovely views, and very peaceful. The owners John and his wife could not be more helpful, close at hand if there is a problem also giving you your privacy. Would recommend Follis Cottage as a place to stay.

The hosts were friendly and welcoming.

However the outside of the property needed a good tidy up also more typed instructions needed for gadgets and equipment. We were surprised the hosts lived so close to the holiday home.

Owners were welcoming but did not intrude. Just a couple of points which might help other guests: Whilst there was basically everything necessary provided, we were rather surprised to find that only one, rather thin, toilet roll was provided for a week’s stay, and there was no kitchen roll and barely an inch of washing up liquid provided. We had to go out and buy these on our first day. (most rental properties these days do provide these basics, and generally offer a small welcome pack of at least one or two tea bags etc. for a first cuppa after a long journey - fortunately we had taken plenty of supplies). Whilst there were the usual local brochures of nearby places, it would have been helpful to have a note of things like recommended places to eat and drink, and phone numbers for local doctors etc. A note also for future renters - if you need good, reliable Wi-Fi, perhaps for business etc.,the Wi-Fi is very unreliable and sometimes took half an hour or more to come through. There are boosters in the bungalow but they aren’t very effective due to the bungalow’s position surrounded by lots of trees.

The bungalow is warm clean and comfortable With good views across the valley to the hills. Parking is easy and easy to get to Weymouth sea front in ten minutes. The owners are very nice And live next door and are helpful if you need them We would love to stay again Thank you for a nice stay.

This stone built cottage in the historic village of Nottington is in a quiet location perfectly situated to explore the county of Dorset.

It sits just north of Weymouth with easy access to Dorchester to the north and via the excellent bypass link to Portland, Abbotsbury and Chesil beach in the south. For those without a car, there are frequent affordable bus links into Weymouth from the nearest stop a few minutes walk away. There is also a Morrisons and a Sainsburys within a five minute drive. The couple who own the property live next door and are very helpful even going the extra mile to make a fuss of my nine year old daughter. There is no central heating in the cottage but there are electric storage heaters in every room although I never had to use them even in October because the walls are so thick. The kitchen is well appointed and has all the mod cons including several sets of crockery and a brand new dish washer! The open plan lounge diner is big enough for a family with two children and the huge TV is a nice addition to keep the kids occupied in the evenings. The two bedrooms are plenty big enough and the shared bathroom is sufficient. The shower bath may be a challenge for some with a centrally located, wall mounted shower head but we found it worked ok. Parking on the hard standing outside is big enough for a family saloon and additional parking may be available for larger vehicles in the adjacent field. Follis is now our go to choice for an Autumn break and we would recommend it.

If you are looking for a peaceful setting this is the cottage for you!

A great big field for children to play in and a separate wash room with washing machine and tumble dryer. The owners live next door and are very friendly and helpful but willing to give you privacy if you prefer. Only down sides are the internet is a bit intermittent due to its location and we would have preferred heating that wasn't just portable electric heaters. (However there is a towel heater in the bathroom).

Very quiet and peaceful. Easy access to Weymouth and its attractions. Supermarkets just up the road. Excellent base for a holiday. Friendly, helpful hosts.

The property was excellent, we had the full run around the property, would be ideal for a family as it has a large field next to it for them to run around.

Hosts were brilliant had some great conversations with John the owner and the situation of the property was very good few minutes from Weymouth and about 30 from Monkey World and The Tank Museum. Would definitely book again if I was in Dorset again.

This was a wonderful holiday in such a great cottage, I believe the best cottage ever.

It was very peaceful had everything we wanted in a very good position where we were able to use the buses, although plenty of room for parking the car. The owners were very kind and there was nothing that could make the holiday any better.

We would certainly return to Follis Cottage if we could manage to book it as it is certainly a very popular Cottage for obvious reasons.

Owners are very welcoming. The cottage has everything you could want and was spotless and well prepared. Good location, out of the way and quiet but easily accessed and within a few miles of several major towns and the beach so quick to get to places by car.

This cottage is in a perfect location.

It is very quiet, but within short driving distances to beauty spots/shopping. If, as in our case (petrol shortages) you don't want to drive, a 10 minute walk takes you on to bus routes.

Great peacefull location and yet still just minutes from the beach and necessary shops.

John the owner was very friendly and on hand for any technical issues.

We returned here this year to spend another peaceful relaxing week at Follis Cottage.

It's location is perfect: set in the beautiful, quiet countryside yet central enough to enable easy travel to many places. The accommodation is very comfortable and well equipped and the lovely owners so friendly and welcoming.

John the owner was very lovely man.

Made us feel very welcomed. The cottage was beautiful and had everything we needed. Very clean and spacious. We settled in very well. We had a visit every day from the deers. Was lovely to see. My son Is autistic and he settled in very well Didn’t want to go home. Will definitely be returning in the near future

We had a great break, we weremet by John the owner who gave us a lovely welcome with a cup of tea in their house.There were lots of places to visit and the cottage was vry comfortable. The only downside was that the heating took a while to warm the cottage, but we had a lovely time

The owners, who lived next door, were very friendly.

The weather was certainly challenging the week we were there, watching the waves at Portland Bill was a highlight as was a visit to the Look Out station.

The cottage was so comfortable and cosy and a real home from home feel.

A lovely cottage with great views and perfectly located for all visitor attractions.

Our hosts were great and very attentive to our needs.

After spending a lovely week at Follis Cottage, it is now our favourite Dorset holiday home.

It is comfortable, well-equipped and clean. It is also extremely quiet and peaceful. It is the perfect base for visiting places inland or on the coast, and is within easy travelling distance to shops and take away outlets (Daniel's chip shops are wonderful!)

The cottage is absolutely lovely, the pictures do not do it justice. The owners are on site and very much feel like those friendly neighbours we all wish we had. We were given 'the run of the mill' on the grounds and made to feel literally like family. The cottage itself had everything expected and more to cater for our stay.
