This property was perfectly adequate.

The owners were very helpful when we had a problem with the upstairs toilet. The welcome pack was especially generous. The sofa was extremely comfortable.The kitchen was a good size, well supplied and there was a separate good sized freezer which was really useful.The only downside of the property was that it was very close to a busy road and although we were surrounded by trees and a pleasant outlook, it was still very noisy when the windows were open. Also the downstairs bathroom was right next to the kitchen and did tend to give off a stale odour when the door was closed for any length of time but it didn't spoil our stay and I would still recommend this property. I think it would be too small for 4 adults but for a couple with one or two smaller children it would be fine.

This is an amazing property. It was immaculately clean, with the comfiest beds imaginable. The kitchen has everything you could need making it a real home from home, and has all the things you normally need to bring- kitchen roll, cling film, tea towels, washing up liquid, washing powder. There are books and games in the lounge. Really everything has been thought of so carefully. It makes a super base for exploring the area, not far from Weymouth, Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door, the coastal Path and Charmouth and Lyme Regis are only an hour away.

Mandy and Paul were lovely hosts, easy to talk to and making sure everything was ok, which it was, more than ok.

We received a welcome pack which was great. The cottage is secluded and special. We had a smashing relaxed time in this special place.

We had a lovely weeks stay.

The cottage is very well equipped, comfortable and well presented. A good location as we love to walk with a bus stop at the end of the drive. The welcome basket and Prosecco was very welcome. We are already planning to come back next year.

The holiday property is a home away from home, very comfortable and well stocked with everything you need, location is great for exploring the Dorset coast line , we really enjoyed our stay in Whitegates Lodge.

Light and airy with large patio windows overlooking the large garden. Everything to hand. Well equipped. Pleasant bedrooms upstairs. Welcome pack much appreciated. Good location. Ample parking space. We had a very enjoyable stay.

The property provided everything we needed for a self catering holiday & was very clean & comfortable throughout. The welcome basket was very generous & a lovely surprise! All the things that you’re never quite sure about like loo rolls, kitchen rolls, tea towels, soap, washing up products etc were all provided plus lots of other useful extras, which was great. There was a nice outside seating area with views over the garden, but we hardly had the weather for it unfortunately. The location is perfect for getting into Weymouth or travelling further afield in any direction. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this property to anyone wanting to stay in this area.

Fabulous place to stay.

Everything we could have wished for. Beautifully clean, lovely comfortable beds with beautiful linen and just like a home from home. Mandy and Paul left us loads of goodies to feed us up and, due to very chilly weather, also made sure we were warm and cosy. Altogether a fabulous place to stay. Highly recommend it.

Whitegates Lodge is outstanding.

The owner has provided everything needed for a perfect holiday away - kitchen, lounge, bedrooms, bathrooms all stocked with great essentials. The welcome pack is extremely generous too. Will revisit when we can and recommend to small family or couple of adults like ourselves.

This was our third visit to Dorset this year using self catering cottages.

Whitegates Lodge was by far the best regarding all requirements to make our stay enjoyable - comfortable, clean, well equipped, well maintained and spacious.

The accommodation was the best equipped we have ever stayed in, Mandy and Paul have thought of everything, including a fan, which was definitely needed. We did bring our own too so we able to have one in each bedroom. Great outdoor space which the children enjoyed and the patio furniture was a welcome addition on the warm nights. I don't know if it's possible but it may help others if you list what extra's are in the property? I brought a hairdryer but it wasn't needed. Thank you for goodies, they were a lovely surprise

Whitegates Lodge is beautifully decorated and furnished and very well equipped.

So clean that it felt brand new. The kitchen was lovely with everything you could need. It was very comfortable to stay in. Lovely patio doors to allow you to get to the outdoor space easily. A lovely outlook on to grass and an attractive drive. Comfortable patio furniture and a picnic table made sitting outdoors an easy option. It is completely private. We were welcomed with a thoughtful hamper of treats for our stay. We had forgotten our picnic rug but they even had one of those for our use. We couldn’t fault anything.

It was a lovely cottage with everything we needed for a wonderful week.

A perfect little house in beautiful countryside and just a short drive to Weymouth. Trying to find something to improve but just can't think of anything...

It felt like we were home.

From the moment of booking right you to the departure it couldn’t have gone better.

The lodge was perfect for our needs. Immaculately clean with everything we could’ve possibly needed. Bed was very comfy as was the sofas inside and out. Close to everywhere we wanted to go. Yes, as some have mentioned, the road noise could be heard but as we live near a railway line this really didn’t bother us. Would highly recommend this lodge and booking through sykes cottages.

We travelled as a family of 4, with children aged 10 & 4.

Accommodation was outstanding and kitted out with everything we could possibly need, with lots of added extras to make our stay perfect. Brilliant location to access local destinations; Weymouth, Portland Bill, Chesil Beach, Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door. Would highly recommend to others. Thanks Mandy & Paul

Lovely little cottage - probably the cleanest we’ve ever stayed in!

Beautifully decorated in whites and neutrals - clean, modern and clutter free. Love the new rectangular dining room table too (not presently shown in pictures). Set within the grounds of the owner’s house, which meant we had full use of the front/side garden - with outside seating too. This was perfect for our children as they had a large area to run around in. The garden entrance is down a small driveway, so it’s no where near the road. At the same time, the positioning of the lodge means you have complete privacy from the main house. Osmington itself is absolutely beautiful - 5 minutes from Weymouth, overlooking the sea - with several secluded beaches - Ringstead Beach is stunning, just 2 minutes drive from the Lodge. The owner made us feel extremely welcome with local teas, coffee and cookies on arrival - even a pint of milk. We thoroughly enjoyed our week and wouldn’t hesitate to return - in fact, we’ve already booked again for next year!

A very comfortable place to stay with lovely outside space and within easy reach of many resorts and places of interest.

The only one drawback is the busy road and the tricky entrance to the property which can be easily missed.

Was really impressed with the property.

Very clean and tidy and had everything we needed. Only issues was the noise from the road, which is out of anyone's control and the shower wasn't great but we managed.

We stayed at Whitegates Lodge the last week of August with our Grandchildren.

The lodge was spotless and there was absolutely everything you could need. The hosts were lovely and were there if anything was needed. The garden facilities were great with a lovely undercover outside sofa area and picnic bench. Weymouth was only about 8 min drive away and had everything you could need for a family holiday. The location was also good to visit other holiday places and attractions. If you are looking for a lovely place to stay near to the seaside I would definitely recommend Whitegates Lodge

Just came back from a week at Whitegate Lodge, what a lovely place, Mandy the owner has thought of everything!

We will definitely be going back. I couldn’t recommend it enough, the cottage was spotless, everything we needed was there in the lodge! The grounds are spotless too, my kids played out on the lawn and absolutely loved the space we had. The cottage is in a great spot for everything, Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door practically on your doorstep, Weymouth is about 15 minutes drive. I absolutely love this cottage! Had a fabulous stay .

I really loved the cottage it was well equipped in the kitchen and plenty of towels, it was just perfect including relaxing seating area outdoors.

Although perfectly functional, this property didn’t meet, our probably high expectations of comfortable accommodation.

If you are just using it for a base, apart from the bathroom facilities is ok. The accommodation is not particularly welcoming or decorated to a high standard. Furnishings are basic, although has a very well equipped kitchen. The bathroom is below standards, having no window to provide ventilation; the smell is quiet terrible and despite having quick showers, having the door open and the extractor fan on it still smells of damp. The shower itself is very low powered and had a tendency to shoot water out either too hot or cold without any adjustment of the temperature dial. There was a lovely outside seating area if you have the weather for it. Overall, a functional base for exploring a lovely coastal area and well placed however don’t expect any luxury comforts. Having stayed in many skyes properties we would not rate this as 4 star in comparison to other properties.

Fantastic outdoor space. Road noise was there, but we were expecting it from the booking info and it did not at all detract from our stay. What we would say is it lacked a few luxury’s, such as a dishwasher, a powerful shower and mixer taps in the bathrooms. Overall we had a very relaxed stay at Whitegates Lodge.

The house is perfectly situated for exploring the local area and very private. The house was very clean and well laid out with everything you need for a short or long stay. Lots of little details the host has thought about to make your stay easier. We have two small children and they thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

It was a very nice, comfortable compact place - perfect for a family of 4.

Very clean. Quiet, we all slept very soundly. Well equiped kitchen. Good location for exploring the East Dorset coast. Only tiny issue was it was difficult to get a good shower with the electric shower. Would stay again.

Whitegates Lodge is just a lovely, warm, comfortable, immaculately clean property and the welcome pack was much appreciated after our long drive.

We had a great holiday, lots to see and do around the area, we filled everyday even though the weather was mixed.

While the accommodation was very clean and the owner had provided for many things, a busy main road wraps round the property and the set up of the accommodation I would suggest is not suitable for toddlers for the following reasons :- no stair gates; the ground floor accommodation is split level; lot of stuff in the property - while this makes it homely it is also a parents nightmare for any child under 4 and over 9 months as much was not suitable for this age group and had to be removed to prevent damage or accidents; fixtures & fittings are also not child friendly such as the patio door blinds which you feel have to be drawn at all the times for privacy.

We have a 16month old and while it was nice to get away, with the local area beaches and walks being great; I would not recommend this accommodation for anyone with a baby/toddler.

This was the first time we had done this sort of holiday and we were so impressed with it all that we would not hesitate in doing it again

The right turn in the direction of Weymouth is really tricky to get out of.

Other than that everything thing was excellent. The property was super clean.

The cottage was perfect.

Warm, cosy, with all the little details considered. The owners had obviously thought carefully about dotting every 'I', and were that perfect balance of attentive enough whilst giving us space and privacy. It felt like our home for the holiday, not a holiday home. There is nothing I can fault, we both agree it is the best cottage we have stayed in. And to respond to a previous reviewer who complained about traffic noise: it is not silent (it's near a fairly large road ) but it is far from noisy. There is a low hum which you can notice if you look for it, but nothing more. It certainly did not disturb us in the least.

The cottage description mentioned road noise in the garden, it should be made clear that the road noise is very audible in both bedrooms, even with the windows closed.

Whitegates Lodge has gorgeous gardens - we were lucky enough to be able to breakfast alfresco & have drinks in eve sunshine. Well-equipped cottage is immaculate. Location is ideal for exploring Dorset coast: Durdle Door, Lulworth Cove, Worth Matravers, Weymouth, Portland Bill & Chesil beach etc. Smugglers is a great pub & has lovely beach cove.
