Mariner's Rest

Property was very clean and spacious, had a great break at Mariners Rest, only downside was the twin bedroom, the beds were not comfy, and we went in the heatwave and having the boiler in the twin room was unbearable it got so not in there at night.

We did leave an item behind which we couldn't get a response from Sykes when we came back so we have lost that item so make sure you check everywhere before you leave.

Enjoyed our stay, weather very hot, so good addition of large fan, was a must.

We have stayed a few times before, and this time did find the area around has deteriorated with a lot more noise and nearby car park at rear of other buildings being used as a breakers yard. Having said that We have booked for 2027.

When we first entered the property it smelt clean and fresh.

Nice homely feeling. It had everything you needed for a comfortable stay. Ample parking for our van. Short walk to town centre. We enjoyed our stay at Mariners Rest and hoping to return in the future.

A lovely, comfortable and clean house in a great position for the seafront and very convenient for local buses and the train station.

We have stopped at Mariners Rest once a year for the last 5 years and always found it very comfortable accommodation.

It is also handy for walking along the seafront and walking into the town. I would recommend Mariners Rest and bonus it has a parking space.

Amazing property only 5 minutes walk from the town centre and beach.

Clean and comfortable Smart TV and fast internet. Short walk to the seafront with many interesting places to walk to in both directions. Would recommend this accommodation for its comfort and location. Really enjoyed our stay and may well book again.

We had a lovely week at Mariner's Rest - a comfortable stay at a convenient location for access to Weymouth and the surrounding area.

The house provided all the facilities we needed and is spacious. The only minor problem was a small leak from behind the upstairs toilet. We reported it to Sykes and agreed that we were happy to live with it for the rest of our stay so that it could be fixed when the house was vacant. The bathroom could also do with a bit of a refresh. Rest of the house was in good order.

A nice comfortable house in easy walking distance from Weymouth town centre and beach.

We had an amazing stay, the house is beautiful but only two little things could improve it.

The carpets could be a different colour no matter how much you hoovered them they still didn’t look like they had been done. And the other thing is the little garden needs some attention (weeding), shame it wasn’t a patch of grass. The location of the house is spot on, easy enough to walk to places or just get in the car and explore. There are loads of things to do in the area. We will certainly be putting this down as a fav to come back too.

A well equipt house, good value for money at this time of year.

The only small negative was that the bathroom, cutlery and crockery weren’t as clean as they should be on arrival.

Lovely house and good to have own parking outside.

Was clean on arrival. Had an issue with a sink plug but was sorted quickly. Could of done with a couple of fans as we had a heatwave during our stay. And the baby gate left in wardrobe seemed to be broken and needed that to insure dog could not go upstairs. Have already booked for 2026 as enjoyed our stay.

Just home from a lovely week at the Mariners rest, a lovely spacious clean house, enclosed garden ideal for our dog it is also a little sun trap great for sitting out with a drink and a book,the house is with in walking distance to beach.

The kitchen is fully equipped , the only issue was the oven needs a clean inside and out which put us off using, we either ate out or had delivery take aways. I would recommend the Mariners rest & would book again.

This is the second time we have stayed at Mariners Rest, and I think this choice says it all.

It is situated in a quiet part of Weymouth, in walking distance to the beach and town centre. The property is clean and comfortable with everything needed for an enjoyable stay provided. The property is near all the main road routes in order to visit other attractions Dorset has to offer.

Comfortable beds, lovely spacious house with parking. Coffee machine and pods a nice touch. Would recommend and stay again if visited Weymouth again.

This is our third year as a family staying at Mariners rest, which is like a home away from home.

The property is in an ideal location, a short walk away from the seafront and off road parking makes coming and going easy. The property has always been clean and tidy and has everything you need to enjoy a comfortable break away. Would definitely book again.

This is our 3rd year stopping at Mariners Rest.

Th accommodation is comfortable and clean. It is a stone’s throw away from the seafront and you can easily walk into the town. Having a designated parking space is also a bonus. It is definitely a accommodation I would recommend.

On arrival at the property the area around the front door needs a bit of TLC, key access was easy First impression of the property was good and the hot drinks pack was very welcome.

Towels and linen were of a high quality and the bed was comfortable The lounge furniture was very comfortable and the TV was an appropriate size for the room. Unfortunately some of the crockery and cutlery were put away dirty and had not been checked by the cleaning company

A lovely stay in a great location, 5 minutes walk to the front and easy stroll to the lovely harbour.

Property had all the usual facilities... and for once they provided a huge TV! A couple of pubs at the end of the road too!

Wonderful holiday house!

Had everything we could want. Two children had lovely room together and loved how close we were to the beach. Kitchen had everything we needed and living room was spacious and relaxing. Fantastic stay! Would recommend it

Perfect!

This was our 3rd stay at Mariner's Rest and we'd definitely be staying there again! Would highly recommend. Such a lovely property - clean, bright, spacious, well equipped - a real "home from home". Quiet location, off-road parking out front and a lovely enclosed patio area (perfect for our week of sunshine!). Only a short walk to the beach and town centre, with plenty of shops and places to eat. Supermarkets just a 5-minute drive away! Thank you - as always, it's been amazing - we will be back!

Place filthy especially bathroom.

Called Sykes Cottages who contacted owners cleaners had to come in as did electrician faulty light switch. Lights flashing like disco. Area property situated in very run down. There is very strange smell in lane where property situated. Lot of noise from flats opposite comings & goings all night.

Very well equipped & very comfortable.

Lovely to have some outside space. The tea & biscuits on arrival was a nice surprise. Ideally located with parking all in all would stay at this property again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Mariner's Rest which was very comfortable and had everything we could possibly need.

We were quite taken with the attention to detail such as the folder of useful information, the chest of games in the living room and the books and dvds in the television cupboard. Great thought had gone into providing all these little extras which added to the welcoming feeling we got from the minute we walked in.

Great location, a very short walk to the seafront with is many shops, bar and restaurants.

The Mariners Rest is located in a quiet road. It has off road parking to the front of the property with ample space for a large vehicle. Inside we found the accommodation to be pleasantly decorated, clean and very spacious. With all the amenities you would need. There is also a small private enclosed courtyard to the rear with patio furniture. We really enjoyed our holiday here and would not hesitate to book here again in the near future.

Quite a few stains on the carpets.

This is our 2nd visit to Mariner’s Rest and it was as clean and comfortable as the 1st time.

Bonus you can walk to the sea front from the accommodation. I would recommend this holiday accommodation if you wanted to visit beautiful Weymouth.

Excellent property clean and well equipped.

Quiet neighborhood and only 10 minutes to beach and town.Couldn,t fault it. Only slight problem could be that it shares refuse bin with next door property and if a family of four were renting it could get overfull ,there was only 2 of us but we had a job to get our weeks refuse in.

We would like to come back again. Thank you. P.S. There is no dishwasher. But there were 2 bits of dishwasher detergent in the kitchen. Therefore I thought there was a dishwasher, so I looked it for.

Lots of dust and black dog hairs on bathroom/cloakroom floors and skirting boards

We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely return.

However, the bathroom shower /bath needs a good scrub (I had to do this myself, before we could use it) Also, We booked because it was dog friendly, but when we cleaned the carpets on departure alot of the dog hair that was not from from our dog so the property could benefit from a stronger vacuum cleaner.

We had a lovely stay at Mariners Rest.

The house was well equipped with everything we needed, it was clean, a great location and I liked the little personal touches such as books,dvds & games etc. Loved that it was in walking distance to the beach. Local supermarkets were only 5 minutes away. It felt like a home from home.

The cottage was clean and in a good location but lacking in a few amenities (toilet rolls, kitchen roll, cleaning products (eg bleach), condiments), yes these can be purchased by the occupants, but after staying in many cottages over the years, it’s the first time we have had to go out and get these items.

The description is also incorrect, its states gas hob but it is electric. Only the small oven worked which made cooking difficult this needs to be repaired or replaced especially if a family of 4 were staying there. Suggest the cottage has a guest book so that guests can let others know what they found locally that could benefit them (good and bad). Despite all the above comments, we did enjoy our stay and would recommend to others, but the owners should take note accordingly.

The house was very clean, easy walk into the town, we personally did not find the sofa's very comfortable, but that is the only problem that we had

The house was lovley, sofas could be a little more comfortable, the guest in the a joining section were confused of where they should park caused a bit of a disagreement at the start probably needs marking out for clarification for the guest.

We enjoyed our stay very much.

My only concern was that the garden light was on 24/7, and not "light sensitive" as stated. And we could not find a switch to turn it off. But it did not affect our enjoyment at all, it was just a waste of power for the owners.

Lovely little holiday home, well kept and close to beach, local amenities and amusements, but far enough away from the hustle and bustle for a good sleep!

A really comfortable stay in a house that functioned just like a family home.

This was by far the best equipped rental we've stayed in with absolutely everything you might need for a family. Large rooms, lovely outside space, which was very secure and perfect for our dog. Warm, well decorated and very clean. Fantastic location a 5 minute walk from the main beach with supermarkets very close by. We'll definitely book again. Just a few points for the owners to consider: - Would be great to have heavier curtains/blackout blinds. - An outside washing line would be useful. - We only had two toilet rolls provided for a family of four for a week, some spares would have been welcome.

Lovely house, great location with parking and enclosed garden, close to beaches and shops.

However let down by lack of cleanliness. My two year old granddaughter managed to find a tablet left on the floor and was about to put it in her mouth. Luckily I saw her pick it up and stopped her. This could have had dangerous consequences.

The property was clean and quite comfortable (not a lover of leather sofas).

It was well situated and convenient for shops, large and small as the major supermarkets are all within a short distance. Walking was easy to Weymouth town and beach, even further if you wanted. A problem with the cloakroom light switch was fixed quickly. On the negative side the bath could benefit from grab rails we both found it difficult to get out having used the shower. A shower cubicle would be better. The tv is old with no internet access to access iPlayer etc. No DVDs so the DVD player is useless. All in all we enjoyed our week and the weather was kind.

Downstairs toilet light didn’t work .

Upstairs landing blind was stuck fully open . Recommend blackout curtains in the main bedroom. Really comfortable loads of space nice courtyard garden great location to the dog beach and close to the town and harbour . Property was tidy modern and spacious very comfortable would visit again.

We enjoyed our time at Mariners Rest.

It was comfortable, quiet and bonus a parking place. We liked it so much we have booked it again for June 2023. It was also good to have an outside space to sit relax and enjoy the sun. An umbrella for the patio table would be a good idea so you had some shade when the temperature rises to hot,hot, hot. Weymouth is a lovely seaside resort and we were only 10 minutes away from the beach.

A very comfortable cottage with a five minute walk to the sea in one direction and a five minute walk in the other direction to local shops.

The only complaint was that the curtains and blinds were too thin and the glorious Weymouth sunshine woke us up at 5 am.

Everything we wanted & more. Clean & beautifully presented, we loved the special little themed touches too. Very comfortable & well equipped, a home from home. A great place to be based for so many places to visit & so close to Weymouth sea front. Would definitely recommend it to anyone.

Lovely house in a great location.

The house was super clean and had some lovely touches like the bottle of fizz and the Christmas tree and decorations. The only thing letting it down was the garage conversion that is halfway finished. Lots of rubble outside, that whilst didn't spoil our stay it was a little bit of surprise as we pulled up, to the point we weren't sure it was the right house. Also, not sure if we could park in front of the garage. If we had known prior to arrival it would have helped. Would definitely return.

The cottage was lovely and the fact you have your own off road parking space right outside your front door is great.

A few minutes walk to the beach and in a nice quiet area, so no late night noise. Secure garden for the dog as well. Would definitely recommend.

The location of the property was perfect for us, within walking distance of everything we needed so the car didn’t have to move.

. I think maybe the property itself could do with some tlc. Although beautiful on first appearances we did hit some problems along the way. And the building works front and rear from 8am were a little annoying.

Marina's rest is a fantastic place to stay, we have stayed twice now and loved both times.

The house is lovely, spotlessly clean and has everything you need and being only a 5-10minute walk from the beach makes it even better. We would definately return.

It might be an idea to let people know that there is a big building project going on opposite the front of the property, the noise started at around 8a.

m and woke us most mornings. They had excavators and diggers and was generally quite noisy, luckily we went out for a fair portion of the day, but missed having holiday lie ins. The property is fantastic, clean, well equipped and garden is a real sun trap, we loved the location as well.

2nd time at Mariners Rest and it did not disappoint.

This is a beautiful, comfortable home within 10 minutes walk from seafront. It has a fully enclosed garden for your dog and there is a newsagent, fish and chip shop etc within easy walking distance. I would happily stay here again. The house was immaculate. There was some building work adjacent to the property but this was not a problem and we had been told about it beforehand.

The accommodation itself was ideal.

Clean and spacious. On a one way quiet road woth off road parking. Owned by dream cottages which has its own shop situated in weymouth so.only a phone call away should you have any issues. Private secure garden for you dog. Everything you need fir a great get away.

Dustbin was full when we arrived not emptied during stay had leave refuse in property as no safe place to leave.

Collection date not clear in property handbook fri/sat. Several lights not working left details,but otherwise a good property in a good location.

We had a wonderful time in Weymouth.

The house was spacious, well equipped and clean throughout.Nice and quiet on a one-way street, close to all facilities and the beach front. A small park at the bottom of the lane for the pooch to have a wander and the dog beach about a fifteen minute walk away. Spot on.

Lovely property, excellent location, had a wonderful holiday.

Really good customer care as needed to ring to have a broken toilet seat fixed all sorted within 24hrs. Would definatrly come back and recommend.

Great location, had a great time

We found the second bedroom very cramped and uncomfortable.

It would have been better to describe this as a single bedroom only and to have opened the second front bedroom. Either rent the whole house out or state the house is for 3 only and remove the second bed from the small bedroom. One of the lamps in this room had no bulb. I looked for a spare in the cupboard under the stairs but there wasn't one. We only had one smallish car but felt parking would have been difficult if we had arrived in two separate cars.

We both really enjoyed staying at Mariners rest.

The kitchen was so well equipped we could have been at home. We will definitely be staying here again. One small addition we would like to see. That is a handle on the wall at the end of the bath as my wife felt there was nothing to hold onto when getting out of bath/ shower

House is ideally placed for the town and seafront in a very quiet lane.

Weather was very warm for the end of February so we were able to sit outside. It would be ideal in the summer.

Everything was just great. It was excellent accommodation for all of us including the dog. Nice quiet location but not far from sea front. We would definitely recommend this holiday accommodation. Stayed September 2016

One of the best holiday cottages we have stayed in. It is lovely ... clean, beautifully decorated, comfortable beds and the cute little garden is completely dog safe. It is easy walks to the beach, a few nice pubs, a good fish and chip shop and more shops a little further. We could happily stay there again. Stayed April 2017
