Description

Fordingbridge 3.2 miles.

Situated just outside of the traditional Hampshire town of Fordingbridge, in a peaceful, isolated location, surrounded by rolling countryside, is The Coach House.

Resting on the extensive grounds of the owner's home, this spacious coach house is in an excellent location for exploring the Cranborne Chase AONB, the New Forest national Park, the cathedral city of Salisbury and the coast and beaches of Bournemouth, so would be ideal for a couple or small group wanting to enjoy the fascinating surrounding area.

Accessed through an electric gate and up a long, gravel driveway, you can unload your vehicle at the front of the property, before parking up around the back.

Step inside the property into a lobby area, where there is a desk with chairs, along with some maps and useful information for your stay, and from here, you will find a living/dining room with cosy neutral carpet, a choice of sofa and two armchairs to relax onto while you enjoy watching the Freeview TV, with the heat from the woodburning stove filling the room, or on a warm day, open the patio doors onto the rear garden, which has a ramp with wheelchair access.

The dining room has seating for the whole group as well as charming oak furniture, and is a lovely space to enjoy meals together, prepared in the large, contemporary kitchen, which has lots of storage space, a fridge, freezer, microwave, dishwasher and a breakfast bar you can grab a quick snack at, there's even a washing machine and tumble dryer, should you need to wash any muddy or sandy clothes after a day of adventure.

The ground-floor has a self-contained living space for any guests with mobility issues, consisting of a large, bright and airy super-king-size bedroom with high ceilings and lots of windows allowing in natural light, along with a TV and an en-suite bathroom with wetroom-style shower and a separate bath with a support rail, and there is also a cloakroom with WC and basin on this floor.

Upstairs, there is a small break out area with seating in front of a window, so you can curl up with a good book or just take a moment to yourself and admire the view, along with the second bedroom, a king-size double with zip/link feature with vaulted ceiling and ample storage space inside the room and in the wardrobes just outside the door, while the family bathroom with shower over bath completes the interior.

Outside, there is a rear patio with furniture, a real suntrap to enjoy the good weather and stunning scenery, along with an extensive lawn, shared with the owner, which guests are welcome to use as far as the hedges, which line the lawn, as the rest of the land is private.

Whitsbury village has two pubs in walking distance, a swell as a stud farm and racecourse, while the town of Fordingbridge is around three miles away and offers a wide selection of shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as a small local history museum, displays of original work of artist Augustus John, who lived in the town for many years, plus its medieval Great Bridge, with seven arches, spanning the River Avon and has stood since the late 13th century.

The city of Salisbury is a short drive away, with its medieval cathedral home of the Magna Carta, as well as a traditional market, an arts centre, the scenic Queen Elizabeth Gardens and the National Trust's Grade I listed Mompesson House, while the South coast and wonderful beaches around Bournemouth are 20 miles away, as well as a pier and amusement arcade.

You are well-placed for exploring the fine countryside of the Cranborne Chase AONB, as well as being on the outskirts of the New Forest National Park, where you can explore thousands of acres of moorland, heathland and woodland, frequented by ponies, as well as a host of quaint villages and charming country pubs.

With a wealth of opportunity for days out exploring your phenomenal surrounding, make The Coach House a welcoming base for your next holiday in Hampshire.

We found the Coach House offered us everything we wanted.

The Coach House is situated in a magnificent and tranquil location close to the village of Whitsbury.

The main lounge/dining area rear patio doors open up into a stunning, well-kept garden. There are great walks directly from the property into the amazing, surrounding country side and the main attractions of the New Forest are easily accessible by car. The CartWheel Inn is only 15mins walking distance from the Coach House and the ambience, service and food quality are excellent (highly recommended). They also have three exceptional, rotating well-kept cask ales. We really enjoyed our week’s stay at the Coach House.
