The Little Granary

The Little Granary is in a really delightful position opposite a wonderful pond, where we watched a kingfisher once and a heron most days and so many beautiful dragon flies every day.

The owners were very welcoming. The Little Granary is built on the original staddle stones and has oak beams throughout. The area around The Granary is very peaceful and a perfect place to relax and rest. There is a parking area to the right of the Granary, overlooking a field where there were sheep. The kitchen area was adequate and we were very pleased to find there was a small fridge freezer, not just a fridge as advertised in the description of the accommodation.

we love the place and will love to go back in 2027 the best

A beautiful quiet tranquil spot.

Gorgeous pond right outside where I stayed at the little granary. Allowed to walk round fields whilst staying. My dog and I had a wonderful time at the Little Granary. Beautiful quiet location. The pond outside is stunning, and to sit out with a glass of wine or a morning cup of tea, seeing the dragonflies and other wildlife, is a real treat. You are also able, whilst staying, to walk around the surrounding fields, which is great when you have a dog and want to explore. I’m definitely coming back. The kitchen and facilities were great for a few days. The bed was very comfy. Possibly, if a longer mirror could be installed, that would be good, but this is only a very minor comment. Everything else was great. The village shop is great, only around 5 minutes away. It stocks most essentials and has friendly staff

We couldn't fault the accommodation, but we stayed there at the hottest time of the year and the studio was very hot so we didn't get much sleep but then I don't think anyone did!

All in all I would recommend it.

We are already planning our return, we needed somewhere to re-set and relax and the little granary was perfect.

The owner was really lovely and to be at a place that allowed us to walk over fields with our dog was wonderful. It was lovely to be on a working farm again. Sitting outside of an evening and watching birds, bats and dragonflies on the pond was really restful. We will definitely be back and my only negative is we didn’t book for longer xxx thank you for a restful weekend x

Beautiful setting / accommodation BETTER than expected .

Peaceful Quiet setting , Even made friends with one of the resident HENS ! If you see it BOOK IT !

We had a very good time in the Granary.

The owner was very nice to us and the location is perfect.

We wanted somewhere quiet and fairly central for everything that this area has to offer.

This property was perfect for our needs. Situated between Cranbourne Chase and the New Forest, we were within easy travelling distance to all the things we wanted to do in Hampshire, Wiltshire and Dorset. The property itself was ideal for just the two of us. Really comfortable and plenty of space with everything we needed for the week. The view over the pond was a delight to see every morning. Apart from the occasional farm traffic the only noises we heard were the ducks, the sheep, owls and assorted other birds, it was bliss. Special mention to the "ladies" of the farm, a group of five hens who are very sociable!

Evident that the owners know exactly what guests need!

Great location, the pond view is lovely and inside you have everything you may need. The bed was so comfy! Very tranquil ... and on the doorstep to many lovely counties and the stunning New Forest.

The Little Granary is like the Tardis, looks small from the outside but more than enough space on the inside.

Very comfortable and everything we needed for a quiet holiday. We had such a relaxing time here especially sitting outside by the mill pond watching the dragonflies, kingfisher and bats in the evening. A good base for exploring the New Forest too.

Small thing would be to get the plug in the sink fixed so that it holds water.

Also tap needs need washer to make it easier to use ( otherwise it can come out at high pressure and wet area. Instructions where to park could be to just drive past Little Granary and park in space beside cottage

The Granary turned out to be the perfect location for a mid winter sojourn.

Cosy and warm with nice decor the Granary is the smallest of three guest accommodations on the farm. The WiFi and cooking equipment was all good. Just don’t forget to bring your own towel.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at The Little Granary with my dog, and I can honestly say it was the perfect retreat!

From the moment we arrived, we felt completely at ease in the tranquil and picturesque setting. The view of the pond was absolutely breathtaking, providing a serene backdrop for our getaway. The accommodation itself was cozy, immaculately clean, and thoughtfully designed, offering every comfort we could ask for. The attention to detail made it feel like a true home away from home. My dog loved exploring the nearby surroundings and lounging by the pond while I soaked in the peaceful atmosphere. It’s rare to find a place that combines such beauty, comfort, and pet-friendly hospitality. The Little Granary exceeded all my expectations and provided us with a much-needed escape. I can’t recommend it highly enough for anyone looking to unwind in a stunning rural setting—whether you're traveling solo, as a couple, or with your furry companion. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!

Good accommodation suited our needs to explore the area.

Bathroom tap could use some oil as quite stiff and flush button on toilet was loose. Kitchen had everything we needed and bed was very comfortable. Bring a small car as parking space is tight.

Really nice place to stay.

Would highly recommend. Owners friendly and welcoming. Only criticism was a few of the light fittings weren't working.

We loved the rustic style of the of converted granary, and the surrounding area was really lovely and peaceful.

Everything you needed was available . Reasonably comfortable and clean and fine for our short break. Some attention is required to the plumbing fixtures.the kitchen sink taps are loose and the plunger In the toilet flush is also loose, and the plug in the sink doesn't stop the water running away.

Such a lovely quiet location, ample space for the 2 of us and our dog.

Superb accomodation and location.

Couldn't fault it in any way. Thank you.

I felt welcome and relaxed.

Great views. Beautiful location and property. Didn't want to come home as it was so peaceful. Thank you

This was the little haven we needed for a break away.

It had a lot more kitchen items than listed, we were pleased to see a toaster, kettle, utensils, pans and barbecue tools. The hosts were lovely and even helped us when our dog got an injury. Thank you for a great stay

Relax heaven.

how lovely to wake up to the sounds of farm animals and nature. Edward and fiona couldn't be any nicer.we will be going again .all of their rentals are picturesque. We'll worth a visit .

It was a lovely place to stop and you can get to many places to go and walk around

Lovely place.

People was friendly. Lovely waking up to sound of animals

An absolute little gem of a property!

The owners couldn’t have been more accommodating and were so very kind, showing myself and my 7 year old Grandson the cow sheds and letting him join in at feeding time with them and the sheep. A beautiful setting with a variety of things to do not far away. A little constructive criticism would only be that the water pressure in the shower could be much better, new curtains and a deep clean of the kitchen utensils as they were dirty and dusty. Thanks for sharing your wonderful property!! Janette & Archie

A very pleasant relaxing weekend.

The Little Granary is well stocked with all the equipment you need, there are pleasant walks around the farm and my wife enjoyed our visit to see the cows. Our dog had a fantastic weekend and was very welcome. The New Forest and Fordingbridge are a few minutes drive. If there was any issue it was the low water pressure for the shower. All in all a great weekend

We actually left on Sunday morning.

The bed was so uncomfortable we did not want to spend another night there, The steps were so small that it was dangerous. There should certainly be a hand rail by the door. Parking area was too tight. Luckily we brought our smaller car. There was no welcome pack and only half a toilet roll. The mat by the bed was dirty from a previous dog. We would like a refund as this was the worst cottage we have stayed in. Mrs Mrion Cassidy

The Little Granary, An absolute gem of a place.

Deceptively spacious, as photo's don't do the place justice. The owners have thought of everything you would possibly need, home from home, even a bbq. Surrounded by beautiful countryside, this working farm has sheep, cows, horses, chickens, duck pond straight outside the door, also not forgetting their lovely dog trotting by. It is minutes away from the New Forest and also easy access to the south coast. The only thing I would say to the owners is I think the curtains could do with replacing as worn and putty needs replacing in the windows, guessing this maintenance is done over the winter months. These few things would definitely not put me off returning, infact if we do stay in the area again this will be our first choice. The owners are friendly and helpful. We had a fantastic week here and highly recommend.

Beautiful location for a short stay.

Everything you need in the little granary.

It does what it says on the tin

Spot on holiday break for us and our doggy everything we expected and more

We have stayed in the next door cottage, Pond View, a number of times and Little Granary was just as charming and well equipped.

It is well placed for exploring the the New Forest.

Very nice comfortable accommodation, everything you needed for your stop.

Very friendly owners always stopped and asked if all was OK, definitely an area to visit again

Small little cottage, lovely break, awful bed.

The location is good for exploring the new forest. There is no oven but there are some great pubs in the surrounding area. The listing makes the property look larger than it is, it really is and I would only recommend for a short break.

Whilst the Little Granary was very clean and well equipped it seemed smaller than the pictures and also nowhere near as light and bright.

TV was a bit small to see from the bed which was the only place to sit and watch from.

Excellent and we have booked pond view for Christmas.

Absolutely beautiful place, peaceful and great for a relaxed stay.

The owners were friendly and accommodating without interference. Our dog was a nightmare unfortunately but was kept on a lead, we respected the farm but apologise if her barking disturbed anyone. The Granary was furnished very well and was very comfortable and had everything that we needed for a comfortable stay.

Another delightful stay at the Little Granary which is compact but has all we need.

A perfect tranquil location with great walking for the dogs. The Little Granary provides everything we need for our weekend with kitchen facilities, comfortable bed and en-suite after a long day out in the glorious countryside.

The Little Granary, the cottage, is, as the name suggests small, but its location along with the peace and quiet of the area was amazing, this made it a great place to stay and explore the New Forest.

The room was very comfortable and adequate for two people, the cooking facilities were limited, a two-ring hob, slow cooker and a multi-functional micro-wave, but they worked fine and were clean. Outside the chairs were 'tired' and not very attractive, but overall, very good value for money.

Lovely cottage in great peaceful location ideal for exploring the New Forest and beyond.

Highly recommended

Lovely little cottage, within easy reach of the New Forest.

Very clean and comfortable. Perfect for myself and my dog. Only problem was the parking space, as I have a large car, it was rather tight and not much turning room.

Another wonderful stay at the Little Granary.

Such a peaceful place on a beautifully kept farm, perfect for both us and the dogs. Looking forward to our next visit already.

Good accomodation in a lovely setting.

Easy access to great walks and pubs. Property owners were nearby, pleasant and helpful. Everything we needed was provided. A very enjoyable, relaxing stay.

Had a fabulous time the granary was lovely just right for what we needed and Location was good to visit all places we wanted too.

will book again

Really lovely accommodation, well appointed , clean and tidy.

Hosts were very welcoming and around should we have needed anything. Most of all the location on the farm was perfect being next to the pond.Walks around the farm were also lovely.

We spent 2 weeks at the Little Granary and found it very comfortable and well appointed.

Even though it was a single room it was uncrowded, attractive with beautiful views. The owners Ed and Fiona were pleasant and very helpful and they encourage walks on their working farm where possible. We would certainly like to return there. Patricia, October 2021

Great quiet location and base for walking in New Forest and surrounding area.

Everything you need for self-catering in a welcoming, comfortable room with view of the pond. Really enjoyed our stay and wish we could have stayed longer.

You know we left after less than 24 hours and we told you why.

Why do you send us E mails, simply because your set up system takes no account of our conversation with you. Please either telephone us or remove our details from you list. A simple phone call from you days ago would have helped

We loved the Little Granary.

What it lacks in size it makes up for in charm. We had everything we needed to cook our evening meals, all to hand and easily found. We overlooked the pond and watched the moorhen and four chicks when they ventured out from the Reeds. Handily located between Fording bridge, with small shops and a well stocked Co Op (also a Tesco Express) and Rockbourne, a lovely thatched cottage village with a great pub, the Rose and Thistle. Rockbourne Roman Villa is within walking distance and well worth a visit. We had a couple of walks in the New Forest, but no time to get further west to Lymington etc. So we'll be returning next year if we can.

It was a beautiful place to stay, lovely and quiet, the owners came and asked us if we needed anything, spent a lovely 4 days, would go again and would recommend.

Beautiful location.

Peaceful. Friendly owners. Near forest and the coast. Perfect!

A great short break at The Little Granary.

We had everything we needed in this delightful little place. The owners were very welcoming and friendly and were quick to help us with a slight problem with the WIFI connection. If I could make any suggestions to improve our stay I would suggest a stronger shower (for those of us with long hair) and a bigger TV.

Had a great time, perfect property for just me and my 4yr old son.

He loved the animals on site too so plenty for him to explore. Also perfect position to access everything new forest can offer, lots of family friendly walks, bike hire (family friendly routes), beaches, Paultons Park and moors Valley Country Park all under 40 minutes away! Great location. The only downside I would say was the property was obviously popular with dogs so when my son was sitting playing on the floor he got covered in dog hair which irritated his eczema a little. However, PLEASE NOTE the property was spotless and they couldn't be seen prior to him playing on floor. We will definitely be back. Thank you to the fantastic and friendly hosts.

Superb accommodation.

For the size of the property it had everything that we needed. The owners were extremely helpful and friendly and we were made to feel completely at home throughout our stay. The cottage is located in fantastic surroundings and has been extremely well furnished and equipped. The pond is extremely picturesque (keep a camera handy as the kingfisher might show it's face) An excellent base for exploring the New Forest. There are excellent walks around the farm and a host of wildlife to see. We really couldn't have asked for a more peaceful and relaxing holiday. Everything about our stay, even including the COVID precautions, was perfect and completely exceeded our expectations. We will definitely be back. Vaughan and Sue.

Lovely owners, lovely grounds.

Nice and peaceful.

This is hard to evaluate as we booked this for dates in May to coincide with a reunion event in nearby Verwood.

Then came the virus and lockdown, the reunion event was obviously cancelled but this was not an option on this cottage without losing our full payment so we had to change our dates (for which we were charged extra). So a cottage which would have been perfect in May when we didn’t expect to spend much time in it was less comfortable in mid October. That is not a criticism of the cottage which was nice and set in a delightful location but it is a criticism of Sykes and their policy of not allowing a cancellation with a full refund. I’m sure that we had been choosing a cottage for October, we would have chosen something a little bigger and more comfortable. Sadly, we have the same problem with a cottage originally booked for July this year. Because of the extended lockdown in Scotland we had to move this to next July! Again, at extra cost to ourselves. No cancellation was offered. Our emails weren't even answered. We have been loyal customers over a number of years and stayed in a number of cottages but will not be booking a cottage holiday again.

We were really pleased with the accommodation, we realised it was going to be compact but it met our expecations.

The owners made us feel welcome and quickly sorted a little problem we had with the wifi connection. We loved the view of the pond from our door and the peaceful countryside setting. We hope to be able to come back again!

A warm welcome and delightful stay once again, our little ‘hut’ is perfect for us for a weekend with the dogs.

As always a fantastic field available for the dogs to have some really good runs in a safe environment. Can’t wait to come again next year.

Petite but perfectly formed, that is how I would describe The Little Granary, with its very own parking space.

The property, location and owners were wonderful. Due to Covid-19 we took more advantage of the self catering side of the property than we normally would have, and it was brilliant. Whether we used the dining facilities in the Little Granary, or chose to sit by the lake on the picnic benches just outside, the experience was magical. So quiet and private, it was a great break away and yet access to such things as a Co-Op, Tesco Express or a petrol station are just a short drive away in Fordingbridge of around ten minutes. A variety of walks on the doorstep, a Roman Villa a few fields away and conveniently placed for trips to Salisbury, Stonehenge, the south coast and much more. Can't wait to go back.

It was a lovely little place basic facilities but everything you need made very welcome and beautiful quiet location, smashin’

Perfect - exactly as expected on a very pretty, quiet and private setting.

On a farm but felt comfortable walking the dog around without feeling we were intruding. Helpful, pleasant owners. Could do with a little more hanging space for coats and things but other than that, we loved it, have already recommended to our friends and would go back as we feel very rested, thank you :-)

Had a great stay at the little granary cottage.

Perfect for a couple. Located well for the New Forest and a couple of national trust properties. Owners were on-site and were friendly and helpful.

Nice little place on a farm very peaceful and relaxing.

The owners were very helpful but do not intrude on you. It has a lovely view out over the pond and is very quiet Fordingbridge has a good CO-OP for your shopping and is only 2 miles away. Very nice stay had at the Little Granary.

The accommodation was fantastic.

It felt very welcoming and homely. The setting was idyllic and very peaceful. We were shown the chickens and pigs, who then became a daily feeding spot. The people running the farm were extremely helpful and friendly. The only downside of staying at the Little Granary was we only booked a week.

Lovely spot if you want peace and quiet but within driving distance for sight seeing.

The farmer and his wife were very nice and helpful husband even went for a tour round the farm with farmer. Would recommend this place if you want to get away from it all.

Wrong type of holiday for 80 year olds

The Little Granary was a perfect holiday venue for my dog and I.

The setting was sublime and included wonderful walks around the farm, through woods and meadows. It was a really peaceful break with only the sound of the birds and animals. The owners were perfect hosts, leaving us to enjoy our stay but there for information and advice when required. I certainly consider The Little Granary as my 'bolt hole' in the future.

Lovely people, beautiful locations; very peaceful and we felt very safe there too.

As it stated that it was dog friendly, we took along our 11 month old Red Setter puppy!

There was NO garden for him... and the cottage was definately NOT for the larger breed of dog, which I feel should be stated in the listing. There was also NO sofa to sit down on to relax at the end of your day - just two garden chairs! It was little disappointing that there was no welcome pack as we have received them in other places with milk, biscuits etc its always a special touch for people when they arrive. We were booked for 3 nights but left after two as we just wanted to get back home. Sorry but we will not being going back.

We had an amazing time staying at The Granary.

It was lovely being able to help out with the calves and the farmer was happy to share his expertise with us which was very interesting. Mr and Mrs Olivier, the owners, were extremely friendly and helpful and made our stay very enjoyable and they went out of their way to help us after we became stranded with a flat tyre after hitting a pot hole unexpectedly! The Granary was perfect for our needs and the surrounding countryside and views from the front door was beautiful - looking out onto a pond, horses and sheep. The dogs enjoyed every minute of their stay too and are now sulking to be back home! Thank you for the best break in the New Forest yet!

Great spot lovely people perfect get away

Lovely setting.

Lovely little building, ideal for the weekend we stayed there for located on a farm.

Plenty of space to walk our dog and a handy grass area by the duck pond when a quick stretch of the legs was needed. The only real downside of the 'Granary' is that there is no secure outside space attached to it.

good location.

Mr and Mrs Oliver very helpful and friendly. Good for dogs. The garden opposite the Granary very nice over looking the pond

We've had a lovely time at the working farm location, relaxed, natural surroundings, welcoming and friendly hosts.

Thank you Sykes.

Very peaceful in great location really close to New forest national park.

Great little getaway!

A tiny 1 roomed cottage that was just the right size for two people and a dog. Great fun on the farm and a short car journey to the local village. Only criticism would be the weather, rain all weekend!! But still had a great weekend!
