  • "We had a lovely stay and the accommodation was just as described."

The weather was terrible so it might have been nice to have a small heater just to give some immediate warmth, as we didn’t want to light the fire.

  • "Although there was nothing wrong with the cottage/dairy itself, in fact on the whole it was quite nice, there were a couple of disappointments to deal with when we arrived."

Apparently, there had been vehicle damage to a telegraph pole and there was no Internet. Obviously this was outside the control of the owner, but knowing about it would have been nice as I had taken some work with us that I couldn't do. This was coupled with problem that we couldn't get any type of Internet connection via 4g, or even slower, while in the area of the cottage. We couldn't even get a telephone signal of any kind. No Internet, so no WhatsApp, no telephone signal, so not even texts. I am with O2 and my wife is with Vodafone. I don't know if that is the usual situation or the problem is related to the issue with the telegraph pole. We were asked to move our new car from the front of the property to the side, because it was in view of the guests from the other holiday property (their car was at the side of their property). We did this but I was a bit concerned about all the conkers that fallen all over that area. However it wasn't windy so that wasn't a problem. When we came back one evening the new guests from the other property were parked where we'd been told to park, so we had to park at the front anyway. Also, again no fault of the owner, but the A35 was closed for repairs each night between 8.00pm and 6.00am, so getting back after 8.00 was via single track country lanes, but there are passing places. On the plus side the property has pretty well everything you are likely to need and it's handy for anywhere accessible from the Dorchester to Honiton road. There are some nice eateries a short drive away, particularly The Loders Arms. The food is good and the service too, but don't go if you have a problem with dogs, although all very friendly, there's a lot of them. It's our 6th visit to Dorset and apart from the aforementioned inconveniences, we had a good holiday and we will, God willing, be returning to Dorset next year.

  • "The Dairy is a well furbished holiday cottage; all the appliances and furniture are high quality and work as they should."

The underfloor heating and woodburning stove kept the Dairy warm and cosy, even in a damp February! Friendly welcome from Carol, the owner, who lives on site. We would recommend this property to anyone wanting to stay in the Bridport area and do some walking and exploring,.

Thank you for choosing to stay with us and for your kind words. Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely stay at the Dairy."

The property is very well laid out and a great deal of thought has gone into making the property comfortable and welcoming. Very clean and good quality furnishings. Good location for coastal and inland walks. Road noise (mentioned on the listing) was not at all troublesome and wi-fi was fine. Would recommend this cottage and would definitely stay here again.

  • "A wonderful find - The Dairy has everything anyone needs in a holiday cottage and it is all of such excellent quality."

Obviously meant for four people but luxuriously comfortable for two. Carol, it was the personal touches that made it a delight to stay in and the beautiful headboards have to receive a special mention. it’s in an ideal position for exploring Dorset too. Just one suggestion - a long handled floor squeegee in the wet room would be useful. Pat and Rosie

  • "It would have been nice if the owners who lived opposite came to introduce themselves and see if everything was alright."

The property itself was lovely and well equipped however I do take exception to us having to strip the bed before we leave as to my that’s the owners job. Both my wife and I suffer with breathing problems and doing this made us suffer after we had a lovely holiday.

It has a beautiful setting and the owner was extremely helpful to us even late on a Sunday evening!! You can hear some Road noise from the living room and outside but the bedrooms are placed to ensure that we found them very restful and quiet.

Central for Dorset, Devon and Somerset. Great facilities and was very clean. We did miss a washing machine though! The only suggestion we would make is to have grab rails put in both bathrooms. Will definitely be back!

  • "I would definitely stay here again."

It was a good size, clean and had everything we needed (no issues with WiFi). The wood burner kept us nice and warm in the evenings. The location was perfect for us as we were on a fossil hunting mission so travelling to the various beaches worked well. We were inside so the traffic noise from the A35 wasn't an issue but I could imagine it being irritating in the summer when outside/windows open at night. Easily booked and informative email confirmation/guidance/instructions.

About the location

BRIDPORT

Lyme Regis 10 miles; West Bay 2 miles.

The attractive market town of Bridport grew up around the River Brit, and was shaped by its extensive history of rope and net making. The long, wide streets and alleyways between the houses were once where the flax strands were twisted into rope, while today those streets are filled with an interesting variety of shops, restaurants and inns. Bridport’s market is regularly featured on the River Cottage TV programme. 2 miles south of Bridport is the dramatic Jurassic coast at West Bay, now a World Heritage Site, home to the backdrop for TV's Harbour Lights and the coastal setting for popular Broadchurch, whilst the picturesque resort of Lyme Regis is within 10 miles. A superb base for exploring wonderful West Dorset.
