Description

Washingpools is renovated holiday home where sheep used to be dipped historically and it’s located in West Bexington, a charming coastal village in Dorset.

It’s a lovely retreat for couples as the property sleeps two people. Washingpools welcomes two well-behaved dogs.

The property has everything you need for a comfortable holiday with cosy and comfortable bedroom and a shower room.

Few minutes’ walk across the fields will take you to the famous Chesil beach, a 18-mile stretching pebble beach which is home to rare species of wildlife and common Dorset birds. The property is popular with birdwatchers, walkers and guests who love a quiet location.

Within a walking distance you will find a charming tea room where you can relax with a cup of tea after a walk or you can choose to head home to your comfortable and cosy cottage sheltered from the busy life. Warm up your feet by the fire with a book or a glass of red and enjoy a calm evening.

Get some fresh local produce in a farm shop nearby in the village. If you need a larger shopping, the village of Burton Bradstock has a full-week working shop and the market town of Bridport with many shops, supermarket and a farmer’s market is a short drive away.

Beautiful seaside town of Weymouth with sandy beach perfect for basking in the sun or a swim is a few miles West.

Washingpools is a charming base to explore and get away with your loved one for a week or more and be surrounded by astonishing nature.

The situation is perfect for dog lovers with open field and walks to the beach.

Very quite and has most things you need. The Main sitting room and kitchen are about the right size and spacious enough. The same cannot be said about the bedroom which is on the small side and a squeeze to access though comfortable enough. a lack of storage space to unpack doesnt help, but would be fine if just 1 person. The bathroom has some issues with the toilet roll holder falling of the wall, and the fact everthing gets wet when you have a shower and then takes an age to dry. Really needs a screen of some sort between the shower and the toilet. The Biggest issue is the actual electric shower is falling of the wall and needs urgent attention. It is perfectly located to explore the dorset coastline and ridgeway and generally cosy and warm it just needs some maintenance done to bring it up a bit.

Another restful week at Washingpools; I think this was my fifth or sixth time there, and it's always a special retreat time for me.

Perfect for walking along the coast, or just sitting watching the sea from the window – or the night sky if it's clear. The bed and sofa are both comfortable. The shower room is adequate. There are always a few cobwebs in the unused corners but that's to be expected. Lovely location.

We wanted a peaceful break and this cottage really delivered.

It was in a secluded spot with amenities not far away. The view was stunning and the sea and beach were just in front of you.Feel refreshed and relaxed will be booking again soon.

House Rules

  • Smoking

    Not permitted

  • Property notes

    Note: max 2 people.

    Note: no WiFi.

Note: whilst part of Washingpool's charm is being 'off the beaten track' and surrounded by countryside, please be aware that the access is quite literally off the beaten track! There is a short drive of 2-3 minutes down a private road which is bumpy and unmade in places. The last 20 yards from the parking area is on foot down a concrete slope to a small metal walkway over a pretty little stream and then a few steps across grass to the front door. Please do not deviate from the concreted area as you may get stuck in the mud.

Note: please take care when turning your car, there is a bump in the concrete paving and grass opposite so stay on the paved area whilst turning.

Note: we advise arriving in daylight to find the access lane and onward to the property. Please bring a torch if arriving in the dark.
