Description

123 On The Sea – Captain's View is located directly on the Esplanade of Weymouth beach with stunning 180 degree views of Weymouth Bay. Built in the 1860s for a sea Captain, Flat 1 is on the first floor and consists of two bedrooms. It’s elegant and spacious with original high ceilings. There’s also a private balcony spanning the length of the kitchen, dining and lounge areas. Perfect for an Aperol spritz in the sunshine or morning breakfast watching the sunrise over the sea. The kitchen is well equipped ready for you to cook up a storm and enjoy mealtimes siting with your family or friends at the dining table.

Conveniently there’s a café, The Sandbar located on the ground floor unit of 123 On The Sea, serving locally sourced produce for breakfast, lunch and dinner. You can also take a five minute walk to Rossi’s Ices. Originally founded in 1937, Rossi’s came second in The Sunday Times' “tastiest ice-cream shops by the sea.”

Weymouth Beach itself was named The Sunday Times Beach of the Year in 2023, finishing with more recommendations than all the beaches in the Southeast and Southwest combined. Staying at 123 On The Sea – Captain's View you’ll be waking up to one of the country's most loved holiday resorts on your doorstep. The beach is a stone's throw from the front door. There’s plenty of activities to keep the family entertained. From the Sea Life Centre at Lodmoor Country Park to The Punch and Judy Show on the golden sands of the blue flag beach. The Nothe Fort can provide a day of adventure and Weymouth’s Historic Harbour is perfect for crabbing and eating fish and chips whilst watching the boats come and go.

Venture further out to the county town of Dorchester, to explore a range of attractions, from the Dorset museum to the Dinosaur Museum. Bridport is a picturesque market town providing a relaxed atmosphere with it’s farmers’ markets, independent shops and fashionable coffee spots. Heading out towards the Purbecks you can visit the Tank Museum, Monkey World and the world famous Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove. There really is something for everyone in this beautiful corner of Dorset

123 On The Sea – Captain's View really is the perfect base for your holiday. With its spacious lounge area, snug reading corner and cuddle chair over looking the bay, it’s an idyllic location for a getaway to the Jewel in the Jurassic Coast’s crown, no matter the season. The collection (accommodating 10 guests) also includes Victoria's Place, The Eaves and The Cubby, each offering its own unique character while sharing the same outstanding location on Weymouth's famous Esplanade.

Fabulous location, apartment and view, however some improvements could be made.

The entrance and stairway give a poor first impression. The carpet in the lounge was very stained and needs replacement. The bedrooms are very small with only a double bed in the master, which larger people may find a problem, maybe this apartment should be made into a one bedroom to give more space with sofa beds in the enormous lounge. The road outside the apartment was being relaid whilst we were there, which meant noisy road resurfacing vehicles in use from 8pm to 6am each day. Having said all this we enjoyed our stay and would be happy to return.

This was our fourth visit to 123 on the sea and have not been disappointed yet again.

(In fact we are already booked for next year!). Only change this year was that the owners have refurbished the upstairs apartments (Victoria's Place and The Loft) so had to give "our" apartment a new name too - Captain's View. How appropriate. The comfort and peaceful ambience is just perfect for that break away; the weather was very kind to us but even if it weren't, one can't ignore the beautiful view you have from the windows looking out to the sea. The beds are incredibly comfortable, with squishy pillows and all very cosy. There is nothing missing in this apartment - careful thought has gone into the provision of everything you need to make your stay comfortable and memorable. All very tastefully done. What helped incredibly was that knowing that parking is at a premium in Weymouth, we had our very own parking space at no extra cost. Bliss! Lovely touch was the welcome pack- which was provided by treetophampers.co.uk - tea, coffee, biscuits, chocolate and milk. Lovely treat. The addition of a starter pack for washing up etc was a great help too. Do we have to wait another 12 months to come again? Just have to be patient! But thank you. Excellent place and excellent value.

Perfect location, parking is brilliant, the place is set out lovely, the balcony to sit on to watch the world go by, enjoyed watching the horses and boars in a morning, no issues with the facilities, WiFi was great, kitchen was well equipped, cleanliness could be improved on but not enough to not put us off rebooking
