  • "A lovely relaxing holiday, great view of the lagoon and sea!"

    The house was very clean, and the welcome pack left for us was great and much appreciated thankyou. Beds very comfy. Would definitely stay again. My granddaughter loved the cow pictures, made her giggle everyday! We had amazing weather and a sunset every night, perfect!

  • "Overall the property was lovely, clean and well situated."

    Views outstanding!! The welcome pack much appreciated after a long drive. The flowers were a nice touch and the colour coded keys ingenious and very handy. The beds were comfy and after the first night we realised why there were so many throws around, it was really cold. The garden was great (& those views), but it could do with it being a bit more secure. Our small terrier almost got into the next garden through some larger holes in the fencing, so I had to watch her every time she went out. The seating in the living room could be more comfortable and cushions on the bench seats in the kitchen area would be helpful. The bathroom was well equipped but could definitely do with a shaver point as there wasn't anywhere to charge our toothbrushes. These are all suggestions and in no way detract from the stay we had except the weather which was awful unfortunately. We had 50mph winds and lashing rain at times and at others 30mph winds and a glimpse of sun. If it hadn't been for that amazing view, which I spent a good deal of time gazing out on in the conservatory and the wonderful, albeit windy, walks down to Pirates Cove and around the hill looking out over to the sea, which Pepper the terrier loved, the weather would have ruined a good holiday. We did manage to get out to Portland Bill which is well worth a visit and on our last day a visit to Weymouth. There is a small area on Weymouth beach for dogs which Pepper loved, but not the surf so much. We have a small suv which just about fit on the driveway so for a bigger car it might be a bit tight. Tesco Express is within easy walking distance for those essentials, Lidl's in Portland is definitely an easier drive/better access and easier parking than Asda in Weymouth. A walk on Chesil Beach is also a must! All in all a relaxing stay in a lovely house in an excellent location. I could look at those views forever

  • "Overall 'Lagoon View' we would rate as the best holiday residence we ever rented (across the Netherlands, Spain, US and other countries)."

    It was modern, clean, comfortable and with all we needed for the daily life and large enough for a family of 4, with nearly adult kids, and with a dog. The only downgrade we would give in the overall rating is for the benches in the dinette. For having a relaxed breakfast and also longer evenings, when playing cards, it would be much more comfortable to have some chairs with backs.

  • "Had an amazing stay here July 2025."

    Really comfortable layout with conservatory, roomy downstairs WC and kitchen with washing machine and dishwasher. Has an additional WC and shower room upstairs. No bath. Unlimited hot water included. Small smart TV that has freeview but Netflix and Prime plus other apps built in. It is about 5 mins drive from The Fat Badger that serves breakfast, lunch and dinners with licensed bar. And 5 mins ftom Billy Winters brunch served all day overlooking Weymouth Bay. Wyke Regis is not far from Portland where you can visit a lighthouse and restaurants with views over Chesil Beach and Weymouth Bay. Weymouth is a small town with pedestrianised shopping area and more restaurants, pubs and ice cream establishments. There's also the Sealife Centre and Sandworld within Lodmoor Country Park.

    Kitchen had all utensils you would need. Access to hoover ironing board etc. Lovely grassed garden, great location with stunning views and great local walks for the dogs. Local pub friendly. Would definitely return. Only downside …… had to go home

  • "I visited Lagoon View for a week with my daughter, friend and dachshund Daisy."

    As soon as we arrived we loved the property, and the view was fantastic. The whole place was very clean. The kitchen was very well equipped. Lovely soft white towels. Vase of alstroemeria in the kitchen were beautiful. There is a large enclosed garden which Daisy loved. The only downside is the shower was not very powerful, even though the water pressure was good downstairs, and the bedding was not cotton. Apart from that I would recommend to other future guests. We had a lovely week

  • "A truly lovely holiday home with everything you could need provided by the friendly owners."

    The location was perfect with wonderful views and enjoyed sitting in the lovely quiet garden watching the tide coming in out of the lagoon. The bird life is amazing, buzzard families out hunting plus many small birds nesting in the garden bushes. There were 4 of us (2 couples) and found the home spacious and comfortable in every way - beds were super comfy! Thank you for the generous goodies (Prosecco, biscuits, tea, coffee, milk, bread, crumpets and butter) such a nice surprise and gratefully received. Finding the property was easy with ample parking. We would most certainly recommend Lagoon view to friends and family and look forwards to returning next yearl

    It was so well equipped with everything you need for a self catering holiday and the extra little touches like fresh flowers, butter, milk and bread were very much appreciated. The view is spectacular and the area fairly quiet. Beds were super comfy. It’s a great location for Weymouth and Portland, with shops, beach and pubs nearby. Highly recommend

    Lovely sea views from bedrooms and conservatory, our dog loved the large enclosed garden, Lovely neighbours both sides. Minor detail, another sofa would be appreciated in the lounge as some of the seating although decorative is not very comfortable.

    We settled in straight away. The house has everything you need. The keys with the colour stickers were really helpful. Our only suggestion is it would be good to have a second settee or proper armchairs. I swapped the chair in the dining area with the single chair in the living area. It is not really comfy for sitting on. That was the only thing. It is a beautiful house with a an amazing view. Thank you. Ps. We loved the cows in the bathroom and toilet. Made me chuckle every day!

  • "I'd like to write about how awful this was, just so the place is available whenever I might wish to return."

    There is nothing I would have asked for extra on this holiday. There was only two of us plus a very large dog. I imagine if there were 5 people the place might seem a bit small. The view is why I booked it and it didn't disappoint. It was lovely to find walks without having to use the car first. A very peaceful area. A really clean and well equipped house. So restful - fabulous relaxing holiday.

The property

Nestled in the little village of Wyke Regis, on the south western side of Weymouth, is this delightful property, Lagoon View.

Affording glorious, uninterrupted sea views, Lagoon View invites families of five looking to escape to this charming Dorset location.

After a day on the beach, wash away the sand in the shower room before heading to the open-plan living space to reflect on the adventures, equipped with a Smart TV for catching up on your favourite shows.

Cross over to the kitchen and get to work on a home-favourite dish, whilst the dining table is set with crockery and a bottle of fizz is agreed upon.

Patio doors lead out to the extensive lawn where you can enjoy a cold beverage whilst your canine companion roams the space.

WYKE REGIS

Weymouth 2 miles; Dorchester 9 miles.

Wyke Regis is a village on the south western side of Weymouth that sits on the northern edges of Portland Harbour and reaches as far as the back of Chesil beach and The Fleet, just two miles from the centre of Weymouth. There are local shops, cafés and restaurants including the famous Crab House café, with it’s own oyster beds on the doorstep. The National Sailing School, an Olympic legacy, offers a wide variety of water sports and is just two miles away on the edge of Portland Harbour. The Fleet Lagoon that runs between Wyke Regis and Chesil beach is an important area for wildlife and there are many species of birds to be seen in the area, whilst Chesil beach is also a renowned spot for fishing. The Fleet is probably most famous for being the testing ground for Barnes Wallis’s bouncing bomb, immortalised in the film the Dam Busters. Wyke Regis is the perfect location from which to explore many of Dorset’s most iconic locations on the Jurassic Coast.
