Simply Suite is a comfortable and very well equipped property.

The view from the kitchen and living room of the loch was beautiful. It was closer to Threave Castle and gardens than I had realised and we enjoyed visiting them. Finding evening meals in Castle Douglas was a little harder than I expected! Watching the feeding of the red kites at Laurieston was amazing! Dumfries and Galloway is really quiet and beautiful area for a getaway from the busyness of home and Simply suite was an ideal place to stay!

A perfect home from home with everything you could possibly need.

Very quiet location 5 minutes walk from town centre. Immaculately presented. Well worth a visit.

This property was excellent in all respects.

Comfortably furnished, fully equipped, the kitchen was the best equipped we've seen in 50 years of using self-catering twice a year. Tastefully decorated and with a view of the water-lilies on the loch, it is difficult to find any fault with Simply Suite. If we wish top stay in this area of Scotland in future, we will head for this accomodation as first choice.

Spent 4 lovely days at Simply Suite in Castle Douglas apart of our 47th wedding anniversary.

House was immaculate, facilities excellent and view across loch and park magnificent. House decorated to a high specification. This area has many beautiful locations. Would recommend The Ship in Gatehouse of Fleet, and The Mariner in Kippford for lovely lunches and evening meals. My only disappointment was lack of eateries at night in Castle Douglas it's self. Although Kings Arms Hotel won't let you down. Certainly book Simply Suite again.

This is such a lovely apartment, beautifully comfortable and spotlessly clean.

The views across the loch are something special and the walks available are great. Lots of places to visit nearby, and we especially loved Kirkcudbright and Kippford. We definitely plan to return for a sixth time. Thank you.

The property was as listed with excellent facilities and views over the loch.

Honestly, we’ve been to a few different places and we’ve never come across such a clean, well maintained, well appointed place !

There wasn’t an inch of the place that wasn’t spotless ! The kitchen was so well equipped and there wasn’t plenty of everything ! (We’ve been to some places where there’s barely enough cups to have a drink each ! ! The view from the patio is absolutely beautiful and sitting in a morning with a fresh coffee with the doors open looking out was wonderful ! It was lovely to come home on an evening and it be lovely and cosy. The cooker was brilliant and the coffee machine a nice touch ! ! Now, we love a night in with a take away and you won’t be disappointed by Moore’s fish and chips (we walked to get them and took them back it’s literally 300 yards on the end of the road) ! They were mouthwatering ! If you like a cooked breakfast out then Roasters is the place to go ! The full Scottish is incredible ! The haggis is wow ! And I don’t like haggis elsewhere ! You’ll be spoilt for choice for the kids, there’s a lovely park just on the loch side with a great zip wire ! And we went to dalscone play park (30 minutes away and the best day out our daughter said she’s ever had) threave nature reserve is free and a great walk and looking for wildlife. All in all a great place and the flat as a base is fantastic !

One of the best quality holiday properties we have ever booked - everything about the property exceeded our expectations.

Very clean, comfortable and so well equipped that I can't imagine what else we could possibly have needed for a week away in Castle Douglas. Lovely view from the kitchen and living room overlooking the Loch and parkland, really convenient for coastal/woodland walking locally or more further afield. Even with not so good weather, the property was warm and comfortable with lots of local shops/eateries should you not want to cook.

Lovely warm flat, the only setback were the stairs at entrance.

I was told after asking that there was 3steps but it turned out there was 3then another 5.it was not too much of a problem for me even though I use walking sticks .It could be a struggle for wheelchair users.

+very clean, short stroll to the shops and pub, plenty of eateries, very comfortable, handy for walking the dog around the loch, very relaxing, would recommend.

5star accommodation everything was to a very high standard.

Kitchen is well equipped with everything needed to self-cater. We were unlucky with the weather so didnt get to enjoy the fabulous terrace as much as I'd have liked. The welcome pack was a real treat, thank you!

This was our fourth visit to this property and we really enjoyed our holiday here every time.

The house is spotless and well maintained with a great location near to the loch and also local shops in Castle Douglas. We plan to return soon!

Lovely treats left to enjoy. Everything was perfect and it was spotless .

The apartment is spotlessly clean, comfortable and stylishly decorated.

It is extremely well-equipped. The thoughtful welcome pack allowed us to put off shopping on the first day. The location is beautiful, though there is a busy road between the terrace and the loch. One note to the owners: all pillows in the apartment were feather-filled, so we had to buy pillows due to allergy issues. The above criticisms in no way detract from the excellence of Simply Suite and of Castle Douglas as a base for exploring beautiful Dumfries and Galloway. We would recommend the apartment to anyone.

A lovely downstairs apartment on the B736 looking towards Carlingwark Loch.

The accomodation was clean & comfortable with everything you need for a perfect holiday. Lots of walks from the doorstep the Threaves house, gardens & nature reserve are fantastic sadly the Castle was closed for repairs. The red kite feeding station was amazing.Castle Douglas has a lovely high street. Look out for the Castle Douglas Pig!

Comfortable 2 bedroom flat.

Great kitchen and exceptionally well equipped. Generous welcome pack. Beds comfy and quilts good weight and warmth. We'd change the light coloured bedding..but that's just us! The sofas, while very comfortable to sit in are a little bit low for oldies with bad knees . Shower excellent, good power and hot water. Instructions for gas fire etc would be useful in folder? Excellent location for town, for park for day trips out. A great find and highly recommended

Third visit to this beautiful, immaculately clean, cosy apartment I can't praise it enough.

Book it and see for yourself I know you won't be disappointed. Castle Douglas is the loveliest wee town and a great bolt hole to visit surrounding areas.

First class accommodation.

Convenient to many places to explore and a few minutes walk to the town centre. Lovely view over the lake.

The place was comfortable and well equipped But we where misled by the photo in the advert We thought we where turning up to a place backing on to a loch In fact the decking was alongside a busy road And the property was an ex council maisonette We could hear most of the people’s lives above us

A very comfortable base from which to explore the beautiful Dumfries and Galloway area, with everything you need for a relaxing stay.

Very thoughtful selection of goodies provided as well as leaflets on things to do. I have no hesitation in highly recommending this property.

This was quite simply one of , if not the best, self catering accomodation that I have booked.

Great location overlooking the loch yet walking distance to the centre of Castle Douglas.

Spotlessly clean with all amenities and extras. Close to Threave Gardens and a good base to travel to nearby Kite Feeding, Galloway trail, Kircudbright and many other interesting places

Really enjoyed our stay.

The apartment was well equipped and very tastefully decorated throughout. The location was great being just a short walk from the shops and cafe's in Castle Douglas and the patio overlooking the loch was a very nice feature. The welcome pack was very generous and the best we have seen. Some minor niggles - the duvet on the double bed was heavy for summer use and was feather filled, as were the pillows which not everyone will like. Also much more hanging space is needed in the twin bedroom. There are two drawer chests but we felt one should be replaced by a proper wardrobe.

Excellent accommodation.

No problems with parking, always spaces. Garden area at back of property to sit for evening sunshine.

This holiday property is exceptional and a credit to the owners.

Thoroughly enjoyed our 4 night stay at Simply Suite.

Property was absolutely spotless and interior decor was first class. Ideal location across from the park and also a short walk to the town centre. The only small negative was the lack of off-road parking which meant it was not always possible to get parked close to the property - but this is fairly typical for a lot of properties in the area and in no way detracted from our overall enjoyment of our holiday. Very much hope to visit again. 5 Stars.

Simply Suite is beautifully decorated, well equipped, absolutely spotless and extremely well maintained.

The owners have thought of everything to make it feel like a home from home. The views across the loch are wonderful. The location is great for exploring the area and Simply Suite itself is just a short walk away from Castle Douglas town centre.

This is an ideal location.

Very close to the town center and within minutes of the A75. The property is immaculate and modern, clean and there is everything on hand that you would need. The property benefits a great view over the lake. The seating area out front is also a plus. This is highly recommended property. The bedrooms are comfortable with ample space.

Lovely wee house.

No noise from neighbours. Well appointed kitchen. Really comfy beds. Great location for walking to shops/restaurants in Castle Douglas or to Threave garden. Park for dog walking and kids play area really close. Looks onto the national cycle route. View over Loch is fantastic. Lots of birdwatching at breakfast. Enclosed terrace. All round great property.

This was our 3rd stay in Simply Suite which, I think, tells a story.

As always, the apartment was spotlessly clean and very well equipped. We love looking over to Carlingwark Loch where, this time, the swans were nesting. We enjoyed trips to Kirkcudbright and Broughton House, Kippford and Rockcliffe, a visit to Drumlanrig Castle which had lovely walks around the grounds, a drive out to Wigtown to stock up on books, as well as the charming shops of Castle Douglas itself. We enjoyed meals at Streetlights cafe and at the King's Head in Castle Douglas, Sunday lunch at The Old School House on the A75 outside Kirkcudbright and at Brambles cafe in Kirkcudbright. All in all, a lovely holiday, in a lovely party of the country, staying in a lovely wee apartment. If/when we come back to the area, we'd definitely book Simply Suite again.

Such a lovely location.

So clean and had absolutely everything we needed . Really close to town . Although on the level there are some stairs to get to front door . Just for accessibility. But it was no problem for us .

Absolutely spot on, the owners keep the property perfect they have thought of everything, the kitchen didn’t lack for any equipment and we had a lovely view, the beds we comfortable as was the living room we all felt right at home .

The only thing I would say is that although the owners provided a few items such as crisps a lovely cake etc a small pint of milk would have been perfect. Would definitely stay again and recommend to friends.

very comfortable double bed, Good size lounge but dining table a little cramped in the corner. All rooms are very nicely decorated. Would stay again. The park opposite is great for walking the dog or just yourselves! Town centre a 10 min walk or 5 mins to an excellent fish n chip shop

I could not have wished for a better place to stay.

Elaine and Andy have paid great detail of attention to detail nothing was required. It was lovely to walk out into the kitchen make a cuppa see the beautiful surroundings and take that cuppa onto the balcony. However, they have set the standards high I would not have any hesitation to stay here again when I come back up to Scotland. Keep up the good work.

We knew theewere goodies left for us,maybe cutback from last year,as there were no eggs,fruit or pate,but enjoyed everything else.

We mistakenly left some Coffee bags in a cupboard but welcome the next occupants using them if they're there,as it's too far to go back for them.Overall,it's a peaceful haven in a lovely setting for a breakaway.

It was wonderful so clean and comfortable.

The Flat is decorated to a very high standard and very clean.

The leather settees are not comfortable. The decking area is to noisey because of the main road out of castle douglas. The patio doors leading out to the decking area were kept shut because of this. The views over the Loch and wet lands are stunning. There is no mention of the six steps up to the front door which do have an old hand rail on one side. We had some excellant meals out in town,and the shops are plentiful on the long high street.

Excellent holiday property.

Perfectly clean, extremely well stocked and some very nice welcome items. Other than a bit of road noise at busy times, no other negatives. The view from the property is excellent and it is situated to make walking into Castle Douglas or to the Loch very easy. Can highly recommend.

50 years self catering experience and Simply Suits is tops.

The flat was immaculate with a beautiful view to the front where wild life in abundance included nesting swans, ducks with young in tow and the loch meadow was entered right opposite which was handy for dog walking. Our dog enjoyed lying in the sun on the enclosed patio and taking the daily walk into CD for the paper and coffee in dog friendly shops. Strongly recommend a visit to Laurieston to the near by farm which for 20 years has at 1400 hours each day out out food for Red Kites (about 30). Seeing these magnificent birds swooping down was the highlight of our holiday. The surrounding countryside was very pleasant with a wide variety of places to visit. All in all Simply Suits ticks all the boxes.

This is an amazing property, simply suite is definitely the wrong name, there is nothing simply about it, it has been refurbished to a really high quality standard.

Elaine the host was so helpful and was always there if ever we needed her, we even got welcome packs. A walk out your front door, across the road and your on a big park with a loch, such a lovely walk. I would highly recommend simply suite and will definitely be going back

A lovely cottage , a short stroll to the town and the Loch across the way.

Very comfortable beds and sofas. Most well equipped kitchen we've ever stayed in ! A great welcome pack on arrival. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and loved all the touches in the cottage and would definitely stay again. We did experience some noise quite early morning from the flat upstairs moving around but we were generally awake then so wasn't an issue but if you like to sleep in might be a slight inconvenience.

View of the Loch from the kitchen and living room windows are stunning ,even when it was raining. The property fulfilled all our needs. Great location for walks with our dog, shops, pubs and takeaways. We all really enjoyed our stay and of course the goodies hamper! Would definitely recommend this accommodation and hopefully we will return again soon.

A,stylish, comfortable,clean,well equipped flat.

The on road parking was never a problem. Tesco, Co op and independent butchers and bakers not far away.Well situated for places of interest in the area.

Simply Suite was in a great location overlooking Carlingwark Loch.

The accommodation was spotless and of a high standard and we enjoyed the welcome selection of goodies. Parking on the road was never a problem and a few minutes walk took us into the Town itself. We can recommend The Kings Arms for a hearty evening meal (we've been going there for years) and Moore's Fish and Chips. There is a bit of road noise, so sitting out on the patio in summer might be a problem, but the bedrooms are at the back so we heard no noise. We will definitely be coming back to stay here again.

The welcome treats were an unexpected bonus, thank you so much. Central location in CD, so handy for everything, but it was lovely and quiet in the flat. We really enjoyed our short stay and look forward to returning sometime.

Wow what can we say ?

One of the best Sykes cottages we have stayed in. It was immaculate, beautifully furnished and in great condition. The attention to detail was great. There was a welcome hamper upon arrival which was really unexpected which was full of everything you could need. Thanks for this saved us running straight out to the shops. My boys were delighted with the ice creams. The place was lovely, warm and cozy. Great location close to some lovely places. Tesco is only up the road to grab any essentials aswell. Thanks so much for letting us stay in your beautiful holiday home we we definitely be recommending you to all our family and friends. We will definitely be back soon ☺️

This property really was up to a fantastic standard .

No junk shop/ charity shop tat as is often the case .Beautifully presented ,owners love it and so did we.No long lists of do and don't but enough information to help you .Lots and lots of just lovely extras like the food in the fridge and the snacks provided .A big thank you to the owners .The apartment is in a great location ,view is so tranquil Castle Douglas is quite small but a lot of independent shops .I wish all properties were like this .Unfortunately I suspect that Sykes don't check their properties and some of the reviews of some pretty shabby properties appear to be a little too kind .Once again thank you to the owners ,you really have set the bar high.

This is a great property.

High quality, great location base for visits. View of park and loch from window. No mention of busy main road in front of property which could be a factor for some families but front area very secure from road. Would visit again.

The cottage is beautifully appointed and lacks for nothing.

The view across to Carlingwark Loch is outstanding with large flocks of swans and wildlife visable.The welcome goodies left for us were wonderful,and to be honest we had so much it was a struggle to get through it,but we managed haha.It was truly a home from home and very comfortable.

Excellent facilities and home for the week and we’d consider a re-visit.

Great location and aspect. Missing it already! We’re still confused however, why the town is regarded as the food capital? It’s very sweet but less than we expected. But this is something out of the Owner’s control. A car definitely needed to go see attractions.

The flat was very well appointed and well equipped.

There were lots of treats left for us including food in the fridge.It was within walking distance of Castle Douglas.However,one thing that spoiled it was the photo was misleading.Between the patio and the loch was a fairly busy road with consequent traffic noise.

Simply Suite is a great place to stay in a beautiful area.

Impeccably clean, extremely comfortable, the superb welcome pack found round every corner. I’d looked up the site of the flat beforehand so the road wasn’t a surprise, and while fairly busy, I live on a much busier road so it wasn’t an issue for me. The bedrooms being at the back they were very quiet. Nor did I hear anything of the neighbours. The kitchen was amazingly well stocked with everything I could possibly need - I was surprised at only finding a very fine grater, until I opened another cupboard and found two more (and that cupboard hiding within it so much more in the way of mixing bowls, measuring jugs, and more). I’ve not mentioned the views over the loch which are a delight, as was the birdsong. It may be by the road, but so much higher you look over the traffic to the trees, the peaceful water, the swans. I’ll be happy to book there again.

This is one of the best holiday accommodation I have stayed in.

This is a very comfortable and well appointed flat. Everything was thought of with many little extras and nice touches. The view from the patio is breathtaking. i would never get bored with looking at the loch at any time of the day. I can thoroughly recommend this property and would have no hesitation in staying here again.

We had a lovely stay in Simply Suite.

It felt like home from the moment we arrived. Everything was easy, even the roadside parking. The kitchen had all we needed to prepare our meals and our host had supplied an amazing range of goodies. Best of all was the view, watching the swans and visiting red kite kept us occupied when the stormy weather arrived. There's lots to see in the area and Simply Suite is the perfect, cosy and immaculate base.

Superbly equipped ground floor flat 5 minutes from Castle Douglas town centre.

The flat had everything we needed and a fantastic welcome pack was a pleasant surprise. Tea, coffee milk eggs bread cheese, pate and biscuits were a delight. Many good walks in easy reach. Great butchers in town with good local restaurants and pubs. Dog friendly too...We will be back.

This place is a gem.

It is spotlessly clean, comfy and well thought out. The hosts have done their very best to make sure that you have all you need. The kitchen is the best equipped i have had in a holiday let. It is only a few minutes walk into Castle Douglas where there are takeaways etc, and opposite is a nice park and a circular walk around the lock. All in all,spot on.

Simply Suite was perfect for our family.

It was very well equipped and furnished with a fantastic range of kitchen equipment. It was also spotlessly clean. The view over Carlingwark Loch was lovely and the main road didn't disturb us at all. In fact, the bedrooms at the rear, were very quiet. Parking on the road outside the property was straightforward as was key collection. Thank you for the fantastic goodies in the welcome pack - they were very much appreciated. Thank you for having us and we would definitely stay here again.

The accommodation was excellent - superbly equipped and comfortable with an exceptional welcome pack of treats.

The view of the loch opposite the property always had something interesting to offer, especially the swans and the lovely trees. We will certainly hope to return to this place.

Excellent accommodation very well presented how ever some of the photos are wrong it shows the loch at rear the of the property and not the front also it would be good to highlight that there is a main road it was not a problem for us but it might be for someone else

Lovely flat.

Very comfortable and well equipped. Even had a dishwasher which wasn't listed. The welcome pack left by the owners is excellent and saves you having to go shopping immediately on arrival. Very much appreciated. Only one negative you are on a main road and traffic can be quite busy and noisy although after a couple of days you don't notice it. Would definitely return again

Great accommodation with everything we needed particularly as we couldn’t eat out and needed a fully equipped kitchen.

Beds were comfy. Lovely treats awaited us which were appreciated. One area that let us down particularly as it was a cold week with nightly frosts, the boiler didn’t always work. The air extraction also wasn’t working and it was very cold in the bathroom with the window open to get rid of the condensation with no heating. We were either boiling hot or very cold. Fortunately the gas fire worked in the lounge. Beautiful view across the road to the loch and swans. The directions in says the house was on the right when in actual fact it’s on the left which confused us for a while. Great position to go to coast or Galloway forest. We really enjoyed our week.

Simply Suite is a modern yet cosy property in a great location.

The main street of Castle Douglas is only a couple of minutes walk with really good shops, especially for food and drink. This is also an ideal property to stay in should you wish to take your 4 legged family member with you as there is an entrance to the park directly over the road from the front door. The welcome pack was the cherry on the cake for a great week getting away to a great part of Scotland.

The accommodation is excellent with a full range of equipment.

It was very welcoming, comfortable and warm with very comfortable beds. The situation is excellent within a few hundred yards of Castle Douglas main street full of varied and interesting shops. The view from the front window is beautiful and a walk round the Loch and the park is recommended. The whole area iis well worth exploring and we would recommend this accommodation to the most fastidious.
