Description

Vine Cottage sits quietly in the pretty village of Alderton, offering a relaxed countryside retreat for families or friends keen to slow the pace and enjoy Gloucestershire at its best.

Full of character and warmth, this pet-friendly home feels like a traditional, comfortable base where days are shaped by fresh air, good food and unhurried evenings.

Inside, the sitting room is an inviting place to gather, with a woodburning stove taking centre stage after long walks through lanes and fields.

It’s the sort of space made for putting your feet up, sharing stories from the day and planning tomorrow’s adventures.

The kitchen and dining area is well set up for everyday living, whether you’re preparing hearty breakfasts before heading out or lingering over supper with a glass of something warming.

Everything is laid out with practicality in mind, making it easy to settle in from the moment you arrive.

Upstairs, three comfortable bedrooms offer flexible sleeping arrangements, ideal for mixed groups or families travelling together.

A family bathroom serves the first floor, while a ground-floor shower room adds welcome convenience, especially after muddy walks with the dog or days spent exploring nearby towns and villages.

Outside, the enclosed rear garden provides a peaceful spot to enjoy the fresh country air.

It’s perfect for relaxed outdoor meals, lazy afternoons with a book, or simply letting four-legged companions roam safely while you unwind.

Off-road parking adds to the ease of staying here, keeping everything straightforward and stress-free.

A gentle stroll from the front door brings you to the village shop (temporarily closed) and local pub, making it easy to pick up essentials or enjoy a drink without needing the car.

Beyond Alderton, the wider Cotswolds opens up beautifully, with honey-stone villages, rolling hills and scenic footpaths easily reached by car.

Tewkesbury’s historic abbey, the views from Broadway Tower and the riverside charm of Evesham all make rewarding days out.

Vine Cottage offers a welcoming, relaxed base for discovering the timeless appeal of Gloucestershire and the surrounding countryside.

The property is in a lovely location within easy reach of places to visit.

Local shop very friendly and close. Easy dog walking from property. Very friendly picturesque village, with pretty church. No street lighting, so take a torch! The main issue we had was the very musty smell. We bought air fresheners to try to counteract this. We searched for a vacuum cleaner to hoover as we were there when it was quite wet and with dogs, so would like to clean during our stay. The kitchen was adequate but very oddly equipped, as we could find lots of cake tins but no roasting tins or casserole dishes. Lots of locked cupboards. Good size fridge and freezer. The lounge needed updating and more comfortable seating for five. We were a bit bemused by the end room behind interior garden gates. We felt that the house was too personal for a holiday let with so many cherished possessions. Having two bathrooms was very handy, but there is a leak on the upstairs WC from the pipe between the cistern and toilet pan, possibly caused by the fact that it was not fastened down properly. We appreciated the welcome pack. The garden was a pleasant space. More information about the locale would be useful.

The cottage is located in a lovely, quiet village which is on a local bus route.

Parking is easily available with the private space at the rear of the garden as well as on-road. The cottage is a good size, good shower downstairs, lots of seating areas. The kitchen is well equipped but there is a shortage of glasses for 5 people. It feels like the house is used by the owners as there are a lot of padlocked cupboards, one locked bedroom and so many china ornaments everywhere. The furniture appears to be quite old (there is a musty smell in the house) and isn’t that comfortable. We found the double bed incredibly firm and the single beds incredibly soft. The tv remote control appears to be broken (confusingly the OK button didn’t work so nothing can be selected) but we managed to watch terrestrial tv. The garden needs some TLC but it has been a hard summer. Overall we enjoyed our stay in the cottage but feel things could be better.

Vine Cottage is a lovely home, right in the middle of the village.

Easy to walk straight out the door and wander round the village, there's a nearby pub that served amazing food, and small local shop which was closed when we visited, I understand it's changing hands, and a lovely village that we were able to walk round with our dog. Being a dog friendly cottage made us feel welcome to bring our small dog on holiday. The cottage itself was spacious and had much character. It was well equipped and served us for everything we needed. The owners were very helpful and communicated to us well. Thankyou.
