Description

The Stables is located on an equestrian smallholding adjacent to open countryside in the village of Chidham in the heart of the beautiful Chichester Harbour Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and on the edge of the spectacular South Downs National Park.

On the doorstep is all the beauty of the natural harbour and its surroundings and, to the North, all the attractions of the National Park making this the perfect location for couples who love the countryside and natural coastline.

The Stables occupies the ground floor of a detached brick-built barn which has been lovingly converted to a very high standard creating a little bit of luxury in the heart of the countryside. Character oak features and comfortable, quality furnishings make this a very relaxing place to be. Level access, wider doorways and a wet room style shower make The Stables suitable for guests with some limited mobility, but the apartment is not adapted for full time wheelchair users. The private entrance door leads into the lounge, where full height windows allow you to relax on the sofa and take in the view, perhaps read one of the books or play one of the games provided for guests. The west facing decking area with table and chairs provides the perfect place for alfresco meals and to take in the views over the horse paddocks towards the adjacent farm fields. Beyond the lounge is the dining area and well-equipped open plan kitchen with modern integrated appliances including a fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washer/dryer and the dining area has an oak table and chairs. The cosy bedroom has a 6′ super-king bed which can also be adapted to two twin beds on request, the mattress is superior quality to ensure a good night’s sleep, and there is plenty of drawer space, a double wardrobe and an oak dressing table and stool, with French doors providing a view across the paddocks and leading out directly onto the decking area, with the doors having a clever lock that allows for ventilation whilst remaining totally secure. The large shower room includes a level access wet room style shower with fixed and adjustable shower heads plus complimentary vegan, eco-friendly toiletries are provided for guests’ use. Sitting adjacent to a separate stable block and 4 acres of open paddocks where the resident horses graze, The Stables enjoys views from the lounge, bedroom and decking across the paddocks towards the adjacent farmland of Chidham peninsula. If you’re not travelling by car, The Stables is conveniently located only 15 minutes’ walk from Nutbourne railway station, 200 metres from the 700 Coastliner bus route and just a 1-minute cycle ride off South Coast Cycle Route 2. Staying in the very heart of the countryside, you can watch the local wildlife and birds from the decking or see the horses grazing in the fields as the wild deer wander through. During the Spring you may be lucky enough to hear the cuckoos and from Spring through to Autumn you may well see the resident buzzards as they swoop between the trees. The closest local pub is just a moment’s walk away, as is the harbour edge of Bosham Channel where you can join the shoreline path and walk around Chidham peninsula enjoying spectacular views across the Bosham and Thorney channels.

Just a short drive away is the beautiful harbour village of Bosham with its sailing club and historic church, famously featured in the Bayeux Tapestry.

Further afield lies Bosham, the Goodwood Estate, the cathedral City of Chichester and the beautiful South Coast beaches of East & West Wittering, Hayling Island and Bracklesham Bay. To the west is the historic Portsmouth and Southsea, and further to the east the flamboyant seaside town of Brighton.

Goodwood Estate is only a short drive away, with its Motor Circuit renowned for The Festival of Speed and The Revival plus the famous horse racing track, home of Glorious Goodwood. The beautiful cathedral city of Chichester is only a short journey by car and offers a good selection of shops, restaurants and cafes.

All this and more awaits at The Stables.

A second property, ‘The Hayloft’ (Ref. 1132696) is on the first floor and also sleeps 2 guests.'

This was an outstanding property in terms of comfort, equipment and cleanliness.

We appreciated the generous welcome pack and the information provided about the flat and the area. The position is very convenient for Chichester and the coast and the bus service is also excellent.

Fantastic place.

Beautiful views with outside chairs and table to watch the Sun. Compact venue which is perfect for 2 people. Comfortable Bed, fantastic shower (still miss that), decent kitchen with washing facilities and comfortable place to sit down and watch TV. Secure off road parking, in fact the parking was so secure i would be happy to bring my Bike next time and leave it in the Car. Owner is lovely and we spoke a few times. We are definitely considering coming again.

This is what excellent self catering accommodation looks like!

Everything we needed and more. The whole area is immaculate, considering there are 3 horses next door , we did not see one piece of hay or straw out of place. We watched rabbits and squirrels and even saw a deer from the comfort of the settee! The cottage is spotlessly clean, great shower, constant hot water, always cosy and warm, huge comfy bed and a generous welcome pack. Close to bus stop, the 700 takes you all the way from Chichester to Portsmouth for £3!! We used the bus so that we could walk King Charles coast path throughout the week. The entire coast is so varied, worth spending a day in Portsmouth and also getting ferry over to Gosport. Thank you Jo and Neil , we really had the best time. After walking 85 miles we’ve come home for a rest.
